  1. He's gone up in my estimation from "a local kid who loves the club" to a player we would now genuinely miss if he isn't playing

Balls to them...they're light years behind, and it would take a miracle for them to get anywhere near us now. I mean dropping all of FFP restrictions and them being taken over by the mythical Sunderland fan with a few billion to spare. They are only rivals in the local sense of the word now. Kind of like a flea on a cat or dog...yes aware of it and a minor irritation but nothing anyone could realistically take serious as a threat. At present they're nothing to us. Their sole claim to superiority is based on our debatable ownership, while theirs is based on a young lad who does not at present have the resources to contribute anything remotely required for a top league club.
  3. Got to admire his increased confidence to try that half volley that misses by millimetres. Almost a shame that Matty didn't progress in the same way
  4. It's no coincidence...they work well together. Probably our best line up. Longstaff is getting better every game, and isn't far away from being an essential component
  5. Got to love Schteve in the background with the "what's going on here" look slapped all over his chevvy chase
  6. He did indeed, but it was his freakish chimp dna which made him one of the best attackers going
  7. Never got this weird obsession we seem to have about putting any defender who can remotely pass in to midfield? On the few occasions we've tried it it's been nothing short of a disaster. Has it ever worked out for anyone? Can't think of a single defender who moved to midfield and did well. Worked OK for Mascherano going the other way, but even that was a massive exception. Possibly Marquez about 15 years ago Needs to be killed...killed with fire.
  8. Didn't realise Cameron Ferguson was up at Forfar. We clearly don't rate him as that league is utterly dire...watched them regularly while at University, and I could walk in to their team now despite being 40+ and pushing 15 stone
  9. The revenue will start to drop the longer they're away from being the best...remember up to about 1997 we were so close to them in terms of everything financial. A few bad years coupled with massive increases in tv money put us decades behind in the space of a couple of years. It might take longer but reputation doesn't last forever...the longer they stay away from the top, their global influence will start to decrease and eventually the ability to bring in the most lucrative deals will start to fail. It's starting already....I'd never seen a kid wearing a Man City shirt around here until the titles started rolling in, but now they're 10 a penny
  10. Think they'll have a bit too much for us to win, but can certainly see them being a lot more worried about coming here now than they have in about 20 years
  11. Issue is that we're quite unpredictable at the moment, and still have incidences of shooting our selves in the foot. A few more minutes of concentration against Liverpool, West Ham and Wolves, we'd be sitting in second and being talked of as title challengers. Yes I know...if only me aunty had b******s she'd be my uncle, but that combined 30 minutes has cost 7 points, and those brainfarts have a massive tendency to hit us just when we're feeling good
  12. Certainly looking that way at present, but ten Hag was considered one of the most up and coming forward thinking managers in Europe. Wouldn't swap him for EH now, but at the time, liars aside most were disappointed that we didn't get a "big name/exotic" manager in.
  13. Don't think he's a fraud, just not right for them. Does no-one remember how gutted most of us were when he turned us down and we got EH instead? He will work better at a club where he brings youth players through and doesn't have to worry about massive fees and egos
  14. A whole world of nope to this....exactly what BSA tried in 2007/8 and we all saw how well that worked. Casimeiro is their Cacapa
  15. Boo hoo. They're not winning every match and trophy going. Welcome to the world of about 80 other league clubs. Pundits go on about "long suffering Man U fans" give them another 20 or 30 without a trophy then that can be sort of justified. The Glazers get stick for taking money out, but they've still managed to comfortably keep spending in the City/Chelsea brackets. How long until unrealistic expectations are mentioned? Even with a perfect management system, backroom team and infrastructure they can only be expect to be second possibly third best while the City/Guardiola train keeps on rolling. Quite easy to say that Tottenham and Arsenal are comfortably better placed, and we're not too far behind them at the minute either. They've become the Villa/Liverpool of the early to mid 90's. Reputation has carried them for a good 10 years, but that's starting to crack now too Personally think Radcliffe will be an absolute disaster for them ...a fan running the football side of things? Whilst he's clearly a very successful guy, his involvement with the Merc F1 team has shown that he doesn't have the nous to affect changes to advancing competition. I freely admit I could be massively wrong but his track record in sport isn't great
  16. Well it sounds like we gave them a decent game...could have won if the chances were taken. They weren't, but Dortmund are supposed to be one of the best so there's no shame in narrowly losing this one. There's still 3 games to go and we're still in control of our own destiny....does no-one else remember the last CL games we had where we had to hope for other teams results. We're in a much better place now, and playing against harder teams
  17. Absolutely...if he can't be arsed to continue in a Saudi game because he's losing, then he's got no chance in this league let alone with us
  18. ££££££££ if that doesn't make sense you are truly lost in present day football
  19. I think we have a very good chance again this year. Almost 2 years of EH management has shown that we don't get the Bruce/Pardew streaks of 5/6 straight losses. Yes there might be a few dodgy games, but he's never got in to a slump, and there's always optimism that well win the next game
  20. Who cares if it was fluke...he took a chance and it went in. Yes it may well have been accidental, but it was still forward dynamic play. Yes he might not be a superstar, but he works in Eddie's team....think he'd comfortably be a first choice player for at least half of the league
  21. He might not be one of our best, but he's been pretty effective in this team. Plus watching him you can see the joy in his face almost for just being here. Will live in memory for his sh**housery waving bye to one of the opposition. Likeable, good solid backup, won't take us to next level but has shown he can be relied on when needed
  22. "somebody told me Newcastle would be an easy win ?"
  23. Well can't argue or complain about anything in that performance
