So to start up we have Dubravka. Probably the best of two less than ideal options I think is my straightforward analysis here. Feel free to post your thoughts and make sure to vote

So a while ago I did a ranking our squad thread where we all ranked our players. I thought it might be a more interesting idea if we did it player by player and put in a poll so everyone can vote and we can come up with some overall rankings. I'll keep this post updated with everyone's score and at the end we'll have a fully ranked squad from the brilliant minds of NO. I don't think i've made a poll before so hopefully this works Grade System A - World class. Could play for any team in the world. B - One of the best in their position. Would get game time for most teams but they're a level below the elite. C - Solid PL starter. A team consisting entirely of Cs should be comfortable in the PL but wouldn't challenge for the top places. D - PL squad filler. Everyone needs a squad. These are the players who can help with rotation and backup but you wouldn't want them starting too often. E - Not good enough either by virtue of general ability or being past their prime. Grades A Howe Isak A- Tonali Guimaraes B+ Burn B Botman Gordon Hall C+ Joelinton C Barnes Livramento Miley C- Trippier Schar Pope D+ Dubravka Murphy Willock D Targett Krafth Longstaff D- Osula E+ Lascelle E Wilson

He'll get a nice hefty payout from it all least. We often say managers who take this type of poisoned chalice job can come out of it with their reputation relatively unscathed but I'm not sure that's the case here. He struggles to get another top job until he shows himself working elsewhere and with more flexibility than he has shown here.

People don't have a problem with the "Shots" and "Shots on Target" stat and have long quoted them in discussions. xG is just an attempt to be a more detailed and accurate measure than them. High xG = "you created lots of/good quality chances" - something we can all agree is a Good Thing.

You can see why we were looking to buy a CB in the summer. Once again PSR ladies and gentlemen. Even if money was available anything we spent limits what we could do in future windows so presumably the call in the end was we thought we could get another year out of the defence we had. I think it's pretty clear that Trippier and Schar are past their peak and well into the decline phase. Trippier I still think is one of the most impactful signings in the clubs history. And Schar has low key been one of the leagues best defenders. Age catches up with everyone. The club clearly identified it was an area we needed to address but the rules are really limiting our ability to do so.

And if he's performing well I wouldn't object to Joelinton spending a bit of time on the bench in the knowledge he has to bring his A game when he gets his chance.

Fair enough if that's how you were reading it. I think it's pretty much a given though that our lack of transfer activity at this point is PSR related even if the term people are using is "backed".
