  1. There are a couple of things that do not sit right at the moment: 1. Why has it taken 7 weeks for the FA to charge him for such a serious offence? 2. IF Shelvey said something, why did not a single player react to it? If I overheard someone racially abusing my team mate, I'd definitely have something to say like. 3. If Shelvey does deny it, you'd have expected a strong statement from both him and NUFC to that point. The Chronicle reporting that they are 'considering' an appeal? I'm sorry but if someone accused me of being racist when I wasn't, I'd be appealing it immediately. It seems bizarre that Shelvey would have done this, but if he has he deserves everything that he gets and a popular player would have just ruined his reputation with the fans. I for one would struggle to stand and support a racist like, we're not Chelsea. Hoping it is not true, but because of point 3 above - I fear that it is.
  2. Generally if you're consistently very good, you'd argue that you're above the level that you're playing at. His only experience in the PL was with a terrible Villa side with terrible managers, if you play in teams like that especially as a defender, you'll frequently make mistakes that result in goals/chances because you are under pressure 90% more than any other defender.
  3. Ridiculous that Leeds & Forest can give such tiny allocations despite their ground sizes. Even with Forest's reduced capacity they still hold 24,357. 10% would give us over 400 tickets more. Give them both 500 when they come up to ours, wankers.
  4. Will be interesting to see what evidence they have to substantiate the charge. Cannot imagine there is a clear TV camera shot, so then it relies on people giving evidence. I'd have thought the ref would have sent him off if he or the linesman had seen it, so I can only presume the player himself reported it. They cant take one players' word for it if Shelvey denies it. Strange.
  5. I'm not sure racism is acceptable to any ethnicity to be honest
  6. Bizarre for it to not surface until now. Obviously hope it is not true, if it is he deserves everything that comes his way.
  7. Only a handful of tickets remain according to NUFC. Wont drop any further than 70.
  8. Not sure if it has been mentioned anywhere else but Everton's new owner had an interview on TalkSport yesterday and came across very, very well. Has huge respect for Koeman and given him free reign as Rafa has here. Well worth a listen if it is online anywhere.
  9. I like him, think he's spot on about quite a lot. One of the better pundits.
  10. Would think someone like Gibson at Boro would be ahead of him. The chairman? Ben Gibson Makes more sense now although I've never heard of him. I've not followed the PL closely this year as we're not in it and I've seen next to nothing of Boro.
  11. Aye, I was joking Do Sheff Wed still have the band playing? The one that goes to England matches?
  12. Would think someone like Gibson at Boro would be ahead of him. The chairman?
  13. We need a fat shirtless man with a drum. Works a treat at improving atmospheres at other grounds. Edit - the only thing I'd be totally against is them fucking clappers that Leicester have. Anything else is fine. Top work to those involved.
  14. He hasn't been particularly defensive so far, he just organises the team very well. Pardew was defensive, hoying 11 men behind the ball and praying for a moment of magic. I've not seen Benitez set us up like that, even away at Anfield last year we went there to score goals.
  15. Every time this thread is bumped my heart sinks. Great to hear the above story though, ujpest.
  16. I think so mate, not sure why you are asking me directly mind.
  17. When they took about 40 to Norwich You have to applaud those that turned up. They're a small club who punched above their weight for a while. Always find it strange taking the rise out of some teams support to those that actually make the effort. I absolutely applaud those who travelled, especially because it cant be much fun to go to an away game with that few others and it looks like a night game in the travel nightmare of Norwich. If the ball was egg shaped and the players had a few more Sunday roasts, I think they'd have had a lot more turn up. Wigan is a rugby town, which explains their low (or shite, depending how you view it) support. I'm much happier to see lower league fans rather than those who take the option to cling onto their 'big teams'. It was great to see so many young kids at Preston in the home end the other week.
  18. wrong Hypothetically if Rafa came in straight after Pardew on the same terms as he is with is now, would we have ever gone down? the scale of rot demanded a rafa-level manager and pardew started and embedded the rot in the club...mcclaren let it fester We should and could have gone in for a Rafa style manager straight away. That is my point. Our club was tredding water from Jan-June that season, where any competent manager could have been resolving a lot of our problems. Pardew was s****, but if we'd employed anyone competent then we'd have been fine. Pardew didn't set any random curse on us. We had ample opportunity to resolve Pardew's s*** long before we went down but Ashley's choices after Pardew went, gave us no chance of doing so. so your point is we should have went for a world class manager? alright then, seems fairly self-explanatory to me but you initially said 'any manager worth his salt', they're two different things imo When I said 'Rafa style' I meant in relation to his demands on full control. Any top level manager would have realised taking us on would require them to have fill control. Cannot remember who was available at the time, but I'd throw a guess there were some managers who could have came and sorted it. The issue being Ashley wasn't willing to go for it. Pardew started the rot but it was harvested and escalated by Ashley. Pardew is gone, that is that. We can all snigger when he fails but don't necessarily need to obsess over him.
  19. They finally win and everyone else shits on them Lose to Hull and they're firmly back in the shit.
  20. Wayne Bridge going on I'm a Celebrity. Could be some interesting chats about Terry.
