We have a problem where our CMs look absolutely terrible if they have to play on the opposite side than they're used to. Both the Joe's were awful when they've played on the right, Longstaff and Tonali both similarly looked poor playing on the left.

The QF round fell on the same day they were on the other side of the world. They would have had to have either forfeit it or send out an academy side. They were never going to take the competition seriously because of that.

Pep was happy to lose that tie as the club world cup clashed with the QF round anyway for them. Haaland would have came on if it was a competition they could have actually won.

He was rotating Isak/Wilson, Miggy/Murphy and Longstaff/Tonali a fair bit. Barnes/Gordon rotation had just started when Barnes got injured after 8 minutes in his second start. Played weakened sides in the league cup other than the Chelsea game too. It's not like he's purposely played the same 11 each week recently he's just favoured a kanckered Gordon or Miggy over Ritchie etc which is fair enough really.

Do you think the fatigue issue has just dissapered by us having to play even more games in such a short space of time like? Mistakes were possibly made in lack of rotation and brining back players too soon earlier in the season but right now there's not a whole lot we can do. I'd love to hear what the solution is. Clearly going backwards and failed every competition? The squad was in great shape after the summer window we've just had an insane amount of bad luck with injuries (+our star signing being banned) and the most brutal draws in cups you could imagine, and still are one point of 6th at the halfway point. Hopefully Eddie gets us back on track and certain posters go back into hiding again.

We had to start two wingers who physically can't run anymore There's only so much you can expect really. The average Newcastle fan is out of breath walking up to their seat in the ground so it's a bit pointless listening to them claim fitness and fatigue has no effect on the performance.
