  1. An important reminder in difficult times of what real bravery looks like. Thank you, Michael.

Crazy thing is he's looked this good and he's pretty much only played in really difficult fixtures so far. I'd be amazed if any of the elite RBs in Europe would look this good being thrown in at LB as well.
  3. I mean it's quite ridiculous and funny that we aren't allowed to spend £50m on Neves if we wanted to because that would break FFP rules but we are allowed to just use the Saudi connection and loan a £50m player for free.
  4. Chelsea have spent 1b recently and finished midtable. If it was purely down to money spent why aren't Chelsea and Man United winning everything? PSG and Bayern are examples of one side having a massive financial advantage over the rest of the pack. I don't see how City is comparable to that at all. Less spent on wages, less net spent, less total spent than Man United in Peps whole time there. Of course he's spent a lot, nobody is denying that but he's the main reason they've won so many titles in recent years. Klopp would have a few more titles im sure in any other period of the PL, they finished 2nd on 97 points ffs
  5. I mean they are 6th in terms of Net spend in the last 5 years. The notion they are dominant because of a financial advantage is ridiculous IMO. Pep has a plan for everyone he signs and nails nearly every transfer making them better players and constantly evolving the way the side plays. He's on a totally different level to any of the other PL managers.
  6. City are dominant because of Pep mainly to be fair.

Whatever you think of Southgates managerial ability he's nowt like Pardew or Bruce howay. Like most other international managers he's a bit pragmatic and nowhere near as good tactically as top club managers.
  8. They took a fair amount of time to appoint him, have hired all the right people in the right areas and have shown with transfers they are sensible and won't act desperate or be reactionary. There always seems to be the long term picture in mind. Obviously there is no way to know for certain how they'd act but from the moment he's been appointed there seems to be the narrative from non nufc people that he'd not last long and the owners would want to bring a 'big name' in. As soon as we lose a game or two there seems to be talk of it again from the outside. I think things would have to go catastrophically bad for them to even consider it.
  9. Different drinks for different....needs.
  10. If you can get banned from the ground for shite opinions most of the forum wouldn't be allowed anywhere near SJP.
  11. Whilst a lot was made of our 'time wasting' last year we mainly used the stoppages to get a bit of a breather and recharge rather than run the clock down. Sides like City, Liverpool etc can press like mad but then comfortably hold the ball for long periods of time to get a similar result. We have a couple too many players who just aren't great in possession. Purely on eye test we give the ball away way more cheaply compared to any of the other top 6 sides. I think that's a big reason we spent big on Tonali, he has the physicality and engine to press well but with a lot more quality on the ball than our other CMs bar Bruno. I think give it a few more windows and we'll have a similar quality and profile of player all over the pitch.
  12. Didn't realise Palmer was of Kittian heritage.
  13. Really can't see anyone wanting away already. Any drop in position won't be down to a lack of ambition or fault of the team, it's just a brutal schedule with a ridiculous amount of injuries that is hurting us. Our signings bought into the project and the bigger picture when they joined it would be odd if they suddenly wanted to jump ship after dropping a few places in really hard circumstances. We should be able to go pretty big in the summer window and I think we'll be in a really strong position to challenge for top four next season regardless of where we finish this one.
  14. Wood was £25m on a 2.5 year deal. In terms of FFP that's the equivalent of a £50m player on 5 years. The fact that we found someone to take him off our hands for such a fee was a miracle really.
  15. The whole we should have signed player in X position arguement in the summer seems a bit daft. We went into the season with two strong 11's. There's not much you can do when the first choice and their replacements are both injured/suspended.
  16. Gordon Wilson Miggy Barnes Isak Murphy I mean we've got 5 out of our 6 attacking options all injured. I don't think that's an excuse to hide behind. Bournemouth played like they had nothing to fear from us. Even the Joe's have played more football than we'd have liked I think after their injuries. Everyone is absolutely gagging for a rest, it's amazing we've done well so well so far given what we've had available recently.
  17. Probably luck it's Bournemouth were playing, most other sides would have put 5 or 6 past us like this.

Guess being player of the tournament at the u21's and one of the best wingers in the league this season is overrided by being woefully out of form and playing for Man United.
