Just seen a headline stating that the European Leagues were planning to resume in July.
-
Just remembered their was a Charlie Nicholas volley, for Arsenal, that people tried to copy. For me it was Ray Wilkins' goal against Belgium at Euro '80.

I've always thought, since the time that there were ridiculous amounts of money pouring into the game, that the amount could easily be reduced in the form of lower admission prices and cheaper subscription to the broadcasters.

I just wouldn't pay the greedy fuckers. Let them take me to court. I think extenuating circumstances might play a role. Could even set a necessary precedent. If I was a billionaire. And I would put their salaries into a high interest account, just in case.

Probably Glenn Roeder vs Man City, final home game of the season, late 80s. Bullet diving header form 30 yards he was at least 12 feet off the ground. I was in the front row of the benches which might have altered my perspective, a little.

Still hasn't scored [in the league] since August. It's unfortunate because I'm sure it was just a matter of time.

The world has flipped. When I was in school people would do that shit for money, completely unaware of the attention that would come with it. This was before capitalism REALLY took hold, too.

I mean they've always paid their wages. Who gives SKY the money to throw at the league? Who gives the money to the advertisers to throw at the league?

Of course it isn't down to other staff members to pay other's wages, but if you're earning the average annual salary, weekly, then you can afford to do without for a year. It's not as if they're earning their wage. They have expenses too and again why should they go without a years salary? The onus is on the club to pay for staff and if it can’t, then the onus is on the government provide some relief and after that... government == us (through tax) on a company maying a profit (2019 overall profit after tax of £18.6m). Owned by a billionaire. NUFC using the bailout is completely humiliating. It is morally corrupt. I don't want to associated with a company that does this. I agree, my point is, the players themselves shouldn’t have to bail out staff. Now if they took a pay cut so the club could pay others, great, but we know that won’t happen. Same thing. Nobody is suggesting that the players get the staff in on pay day and divvy up their pay packet. Logistically it would be a nightmare.

The only justification for their ridiculous salaries is that they ern the club more, that ain't happening right now.

"The premier league have been notified about the group's interest" means fuck all, TBH. It certainly doesn't imply that any deal has been concluded.
-
Most of the players could stop their wages on 11.4.20 and still end up with a higher tax bill than the general staff.

In his early management days, he wasn't. But he had Fazackerley.

It was voted the best comedy [by who, fuck knows] so they probably think it's a worthy treat for the nation. You know? Like the Queen's speech at Christmas.

We could end this season at a time that would make the WC seem like it was in July.

That's why Mike hired Kinnear as DoF, to distance himself. Then Kinnear fucked up (well, did about as well as anyone thought he would do), and was sacked shortly afterwards. In the present day, it's hard to imagine Ashley not being involved in individual deals. Back then, for that period, it was different. Yes. During that period he was prepared to trust the football experts.
-
well if he understood the difference between the offer in Euros and what Mike wanted in pounds. He was sacked not long after. Sure you're not thinking of Llambias? It was definitely Kinnear that sold Cabaye - and the story goes MIke sacked him for getting £20m when he could/should have got £25m+ Aye, you're right. Llambiarse left in 2013. I just remember it being a bit of a shock that we only go £20M, knowing it was Kinnear, I'm surprised we got that much.
-
One other thing with Ashley is that he has no idea on when to sell players. He sees an increasing value being a permanent fixture and never sees a cash out point - see Cabaye, Y and Tiote, C as examples. Unless a stupid bid comes in for ASM or Miggy (£60m plus) then they will be here next year and they will either leave at the end of their contract, when we get relegated or get pushed out of the team and end up on loan in Greece Disagree. He sold Carroll and Cabaye at the highest point arguably perez too. Demba Ba forced his hand with the clause in his contract. Carroll was a stupid offer (as in my £60m example for ASM), Cabaye was more attractive in the summer when more clubs were after him. Perez was also a contract clause, without it he would still be here. Without it the contract likely wouldn't have been signed and he would have left for next to nowt.

He's toeing the line that is drawn for him.
