  1. What development? He was never afforded any time to develop, he came in as one for the future and within weeks he was given the responsibility of being the man that would get us the premiership goals we needed to survive. You might say that with a 12million price tag, we should expect him to be up to it, but then you remember that 22 years ago we spent £15 million on the man for that job.
  2. We've always been at war with Eastasia lol
  3. Because he's under contract, they can justify what ever they like. They can ask, even demand, whatever they like for a contracted player but justify it ? Surely it's the team spending it that need to justify it.
  4. His brother is 20 and never got a chance? I reckon he'll be telling him to leave while he can.
  5. Barnes = Tony Jimenez (2017 Edition) Incorrect. Barnes' niche is attracting investment or finding ways to raise cash. He won't have any impact on blocking Charnley, if anything he's there to ensure that Charnley is doing things by the book and avoiding any more tax drama. I reckon he's there to make sure the club does everything it legally needs to do in order to avoid another constructive dismissal claim in the courts.
  6. Can't even follow his own information. Are you a bit special? It doesn't specify if the £70m is including the sale of the fringe players like Darlow, or if the sales would increase the £70m. Any sale would increase transfer funds, although if the starting budget is £40m + a proposed £30m in sales (and the Darlow sale is extra/not budgeted for), its a lot different from £70m + sales. If the £70M budget is dependant on sales then we don't have a £70M budget at all.
  7. Nowt worse than red traders, especially the French ones.
  8. What? According to the rumour mill, if Rafa resigns HE has to pay compensation to Ashley.
  9. I wasn't worried about Rafa leaving until I heard that Ashley is set to make money if he does. Especially with this lawyer overlooking everything, making sure Mike is doing just enough to fulfil his legal commitments.
  10. Be quality if we signed Lejeune today, if only for the fact that it would make Ryders fake account more reliable than the real one.
  11. Maybe we moved late on him because Swansea forced our hand. Makes sense if we are planning to do business in July, but one of our targets was getting away.
  12. He's had all year to look at the squad... If Mitrovic goes and scores a hatrick against Bradford in pre-season, im not sure that changes his mind on buying a striker or not I'm pretty sure Rafa will have made a decision long before the game v Bradford.
  13. What you on about? there is actual proof that we typically don't bring in many players in June. And certainly not on a fee. People on here are just getting in early, in the hope that they get that glorious opportunity to say "I told you so". That isn't it at all People are just concerned history will repeat itself and they are right to be concerned tbh. Not based on a lack of transfer activity in June they are not. Everything else yes.
  14. Surely it makes sense to wait until you've seen your squad before making any major decisions. Imagine we spent £30M on a striker, and Mitro returns like a lean. mean, goal-scoring machine, and Shelvey returns like Brian Glover

  16. Our plan before seemed to be Graham Carr loading the latest Football Manager and sending Graham Carr on a scouting mission across Europe for players whose contracts expire in the next 2 years.
  17. Yeah, even when you actually splashed the cash, in the relegation season, it was spread around a bunch of mediocre players because DEALSSSSSSS. We need a balance. Sure, get as many deals as we can to bulk out the squad, and maybe the odd gem. But when it comes to making sure we have a certain level of quality in every position, you've got to be prepared to bite the bullet.
  18. Aye, right. He did kind of say 'go for it' to McClaren. So logic would suggest he'd say the same to somebody of Rafa's calibre. We're still waiting, of course.
  19. Maybe the title could be changed to reflect that. I came here thinking nothing had happened.
  20. £400m is about right. Club will generate that in less than 3 years in the PL. Usual rule of thumb is a business is worth what it generates in revenue over a 3 year period. Profits maybe not just revenue. ?? A very rough way to value a small business is a multiple of profit = revenue - expenses. If it was just a multiple of revenue even Sunderland would be worh £300m plus How much profit did we make in the last 3 years? As I said it's a very rough way to value a small business. Revenue is meaningless was my point. Ah. missed the bit about small business, sorry. I can see how it would apply to a small business, looking for investment. But selling a business outright, especially a football club is a lot different.

  22. I wouldn't read a word of the sun not even the bit that says Page 3? I do get the occasional urge to indulge in the political meanderings of Prosecco (18) from Croydon. Not. Granted. Though you should probably just look at her tits But that would not constitute reading. Do you hear me? Do you see what I'm saying? Are you...
