  1. We'll see how this one goes. IIRC another fullback on Frankfurt-Chandler was getting games instead of him at LB. Which is only noteworthy cause Chandler is the guy with more experience that couldnt beat Yedlin for the RB job for USA (Chandler is normally a RB). Now the timing may be off on when CHandler played there and Willems but I think they were both there for Frankfurt. He is pretty well removed from the days where there was a ton of hype around Willems after PSV but maybe he can re-gain that quality.
  2. About the same that Wolves spent on Adama Traore IIRC. Seems the price to pay for a winger that doesnt have end product in the hopes that they will. With end product that value triples

    Joelinton

Really difficult to put all the garbage outside of this aside. So I get the negativity. When it comes to the actual player, Ive seen him 15-20 times over the last couple seasons. At times he looked lights out even though he was used in different ways. Sometimes, when Kramaric, was missing he would play more like 10. He definitely has potential but man this is a lot of money for the actual production he has given. With that said, I wouldnt even be questioning it at 25 so I guess 40 makes sense given the state of the sport especially in the Premier League. His ceiling is enormous...problem is his floor is troublesome in my eyes. I do know that a year ago if you asked me Joelinton or Raul Jimenez for example.. I would have said give me Joelinton just based off what I think they could become....so hopefully that rings true since Jimenez did a helluva job, even if its a 10x better team as built. Just a year or so ago, in Hoffenheim circles, he was being likened to Roberto Firmino. He obviously has so much to prove with a mountain of expectation on his shoulders. I hope he does well, truly do...but... Chances are he is just another meh player that money was thrown at to throw off the narrative among the masses who will eat the crap that is fed to them. Now taken in totality.....yeah whatever Ashley...thanks for pissing on this club to the point the best manager we could likely hope for leaves and then decide to spend. Yes it feels shady when taken in that context.

Maybe Gayle is thinking he can impress a Chinese side and make that money. A Chinese side was recently offering Jozy Altidore like 9 million USD a year and whatever transfer fee. So maybe he sees a big money deal

US U-20 international (well 21 now). At one point there was a lot of optimism about him so maybe he could develop. Bit of an odd one though.
  7. Bruce Bruce maybe better than a Moose...all I got
  8. Already getting a Championship manager then
  9. Drops Mike (off a 4 story building)

    Transfer rumours

Call up Schlake and see if Wagner wants Yedlin for that "American" connection. The level of fullback play in Germany (as a whole not the top tier clubs) is not all that great especially compared to Premier league quality so he should fit right in. That said Yedlin as a backup wouldnt be terrible considering the circumstances. On the other hand, he did a job on the cheap and has probably met his expiration date with the club. Might as well get back what was put in. Also the source for that tweet Roger Gonzalez is someone I have never heard breaking a story about US players. So I wouldnt put any stock into what he says. If Grant Wahl or Taylor Twellman say something, then that is when you listen when its about American players.

    Miguel Almirón

The origins of the story are from a few days ago but yes anything more localized on the rumor is definitely trying to sway attention.
  12. Very well put across the board. Ashley has something wrong with him. At this point Im left wondering if I just want him to lose as much as possible financially. I guess its just that kind of day cause that means we would be in a lower division but I hate that fat prick.
  13. Despair doesnt even come close to what Im feeling. Apathy cometh
  14. Good little knock on by Yedlin to Rondon who controlled that very well on the flick and Ayoze does Ayoze things
  15. Seething. Almiron fouled in the corner which should have been the final whistle. Traore diving and Boly arms around Dubravka's neck leveraging him even if its just a little. Is this a League One ref cause the type of stuff he was calling and not calling made it seem that way.
  16. A point here would be fantastic. Cant see it though. Still if you told me we would have 3 (or more) points from City/Spurs week...I would have been laughing. Gonna say 3-1 Spurs. I expect them to come out fast today trying to put this away early.

    Miguel Almirón

Any sort of talk on how long until he is ready to atleast play some time? I know MLS is just coming off its offseason. My worry about this move now is the expectations that come with the biggest spend ever for the club and the fact its midseason plus the fact that Atlanta played all the way into December and fitness is surely an issue. Hopefully he gets in a couple weeks from now. Ive seen him play a bunch and I think that if he was given some time to acclimate that he can be really good...just worried that he will be put under so much pressure, whilst in preseason form that it could easily go wrong.

    Gelson Martins

The front office is touching their monitors watching youtube videos of Martins in Lisbon. Then checking the Sofifa dot com ratings and salivating. Instead of approaching the situation, they use the financial takeover function on Fifa 19 career mode to buy him. Talks fall apart cause the player recently moved and wont move again (I hope someone in here plays career mode and understands my lame sarcasm).

On Atlanta and their DP situation...there is a saying among MLS Fans here in the states....."MLS gonna MLS" and if they are over their quota, MLS will find a way for it to work probably via forcing one of the sides with an open DP slot to take Barco on loan or some other fashion. Im 50/50 on Almiron to begin with as a player at this level given the pressure that would come if he came here for the reported amount. Not that its really all that much for almost every team in this league, it is for this club and the added pressures nevertheless the time it would likely take to find his footing, probably wont go over well. The difference between MLS and EPL is stark, not saying he couldnt be a fantastic attacking mid...just that coming off the MLS offseason after a long season for his club...I just dont see how it helps much right now.
  20. He isnt a very good crosser of the ball but there have been plenty of times that he has had a cutback totally fluffed by an attacker or midfielder. Atleast 10-15 times on cutbacks alone. Ive always said this about Yedlin, he plays up or down to the standard around him. Its best when he is the weaker link in a side cause he cant nor should be relied upon at this level. Im guessing his contract situation is coming up soon and maybe there would be takers abroad (I say this as someone who has watched him since high school in the Seattle area). He wouldnt be a bad backup if there is ever new ownership and he definitely is someone who atleast cares enough to give it his level best. I mean I think he has started 49 of the last 51, while some of that is because the lack of other viable options-its obvious that Rafa trusts him. Also when playing RWB and allowed to venture forward more often he does, at the very least offer width, which creates space for others. Its not on him specifically that the class isnt there for other players to do something with that space more often. Just a thought but presumably if there were better threats up top, that width he creates and attention he demands from wide players defensively would be much more valuable a commodity in the side. Ive said all along that he limited himself by not focusing on the sport till very late nevertheless the hamstringing of growing up in the US system which is lacking immensely in technical nuance across the board. Had he had a proper football upbringing like many are afforded in Europe, the sky would have been the limit for him given his athleticism. Unfortunately for himself it is what it is, and he has had plenty of hardships in his life that he overcame. Still long term he has value to the club in a myriad of ways even if he maintains a starting role as long as the rest of the side improves around him and I see plenty of places that probably need focus more so than spending decent money by our standards to replace him. I get the complaints though and dont have really any argument against someone saying, we need to upgrade.
  21. Coming from San Fran. Does Larry Ellison like the sport. He has like 60 billion USD reportedly.
  22. As a Sounder supporter here in the Seattle area, I can attest that Yedlin was the fastest guy on the team (not surprising) and Oba was the 2nd fastest. They overlapped by a year or so. It really is too bad that Yedlin didnt start focusing primarily on this sport until he was in high school here (15 years old I believe he began focusing). Had he been taught correctly from a young age with a european type tutelage...the sky would have been the limit for him. Cause he has all the athleticism in the world but the technical ability is obviously lacking.
