    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Any chance he’s been texting Joselu asking about bridges and steak bakes?

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Not sure loans are the way forward these days. Talk of Mitchell wanting to restructure (for want a more suitable word) the youth setup so they play the same way as the first team, suggests more of a Man City approach, where they value training regularly with the first team ahead of going on loan. That’s not to say loans can’t be beneficial like, obviously there are certain things that are only ever learnt from playing competitively at a certain level. Be interesting to see our approach going forward.
  3. Assume because you don’t pay until you’re successful in the ballot?

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

In the grand scheme of things does it actually matter if any new players aren’t involved in the first couple of games? They’ll be getting signed for 5 years not 5 games. Exactly as proven with Isak, getting the correct player is far more important than getting a player ‘now’.

    @Jack27 about now….
  6. Sounds like Dan didn’t do his due diligence on Yoro if he’s made of glass…
  7. Surely if it’s only this transfer and not the Anderson one that’s under investigation, it’d only potentially be Forest that could be in the shit PSR-wise?

Looks like there was something posted on the Villa forum on Thursday but the image isn’t showing now, so assume it was a now deleted tweet or something?

The true mindset of 98% of the fanbase…
  10. Hasn’t been introduced yet, but if and when it is, yeah that would seem to be the case.
  11. Good to see at least an indication of movement towards this:
  12. I’m sure he’s been in ‘advanced talks’ with Saudi clubs since January.
  13. Nah, the theory being that there’s significantly more seats available to choose than ballot winners, so all those not selected by the ballot winners will be available in the general sale. Obviously all guesswork to a degree until we see how it plays out next week.
  14. What was the availability like when he eventually got in?
  15. Looks like @LFEE‘s theory on them holding plenty of seats back from the ballot is probably right. Hopefully means there’s a bit more chance for folks in the general sale.

Yes, it’s not a perfect example, as there’s generally always a degree of external factors that feed into any transfer, especially big ones. But the fact remains, if we’d gone in earlier on a Pedro, or whoever, we wouldn’t have Isak.

Alright, I’ll put it another way. Should we go for number 3 or 4 on the list now, if we think there’s still a realistic chance of getting number 2 later in the window?

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

I’m sure everyone, Eddie included, would have preferred to have all his signings in by now, but it just doesn’t always work like that. Eddie’s best signing has been Isak (maybe Bruno, but for the sake of this argument I’ll go with Isak). He was signed after the season started. We could have been impatient, and coughed up for Joao Pedro or someone to be in for the start of the season a couple of weeks prior, but we’re all rather glad we didn’t.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

It appears our primary targets were Tosin and Olise. If our bids had been accepted for them everyone would be cock-a-hoop (even though there’s a reasonable chance Olise isn’t available for the first couple of weeks). Unfortunately it doesn’t just work like, ‘we didn’t get him, right we’ll have him instead’, easy as that. Liverpool have arguably had one of, if not the best, transfer strategies in recent times. How many players have they signed so far this window?

So you’d already answered your own question really.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Rushing to buy someone that we’re not convinced about because we want them to play against Southampton at home, is not a coherent and robust transfer strategy.

That bloke’s got 327k followers, so assume he’s legit?
  23. There’ll be more seats available than ballot ‘winners’, so you are guaranteed a seat if you’re successful, it just depends how keen you are to sit in a particular area, or if you need a number of seats together, that will necessitate trying to be as close to the front of the queue as possible at 10am tomorrow.
