Keep having to remind myself this is Tonali's debut. What will he be like once he's used to the league??
-
Yawn , typical Sky. Why's it a story that we're paying the going rate for players ? Villa for example have signed Diaby for 55 million , Torres for 33 and last season bought Carlos for 31 million and Coutinho for 20 million. Clubs buy players , clubs with more money tend to spend more on players , never this fuss when Liverpool are spending a load.

Allan Saint-Maximin (now playing for Fenerbahce, on loan from Al-Ahli)

The saving on the bandage budget in real terms brings the fee up to £40 million. -
Lavia looks like could be a real top drawer player .

How are Liverpool not in breach of FFP ? They've spent over 240 million euros in a year and have brought in about 80 million euros.

No-one knows if Szoboszlai was a genuine high level target. We all know the vast majority of the transfer tittle tattle comes from agents flapping their gums to the chick in the nests type journalists. For weeks it's been Maddsion this and Maddison that and now it seems we've not spoken to him since the turn of the year, of course it's not hurt his negotiating position with Spurs (when you're trying to get to the truth behind a lie always ask yourself who benefits ? Hmm Maddison and Caa Base Ltd, who incidentally represent 8 or 9 players on Newcastle United's books, maybe we allowed ourselves to be linked to Maddison to do them a favour) . The club and Ashworth have clearly had a strategy when it comes to transfers, the Isak deal only really went public when it was almost done, the same with Tonali, even going back to Trippier and Wood these happened fairly quickly with very little speculation except in the final few days before it being announced. We had a little more insight with Gordon but that was mainly because he was swerving training for Everton etc. I don't doubt we've spoken to various player's representatives at one stage or another in recent weeks and months but by and large we've shown we do very good business these days. If we have been looking at Szoboszlai it'll be up to a certain price and up to a certain wage, the minute that doesn't look like working for us Ashworth and co will be onto the next. It's very early in the window, Newcastle United in this era are a completely different animal, they're smart and experienced enough to have a considered plan but also smart enough to adapt on the fly if it benefits us. Howay The Lads !!

Me and you could play midfield against this lot
-
We have to play Joelinton left side of attack against Leicester. He'll destroy these. With Targett in behind as Maddison can't be arsed tracking runners so we'll have the overlap. Look at Jones's goal from Diaz's run . Its exactly what Joelinton has done several times this season

Has anyone even been booked for Leicester? Cant recall anyone in their midfield even throwing a tackle in all game
-
Bunch of shithouses this Leicester side. Maddison has had one or two great passes but wanders about like he doesn't have to lower himself to do anything else. He'd be wrong for everything Eddie's instilled here. He needs a free role in a 4-5-1 with some proper grafters around him. Don't get me started on Tielemens either

Tough game . Burn poor with the ball and Bruno tended to want a touch to many or try and turn again too much. Officials not great , we didn't get the luck and Arsenal managed the big moments well. We had a good go through and they had to be at their best to get the win the day . The days of teams coming up here and not having to work and battle for a result are thankfully well behind us. Need to switch on for what will be a dogged game against Leeds . Howay the lads !!

Gordon has a terrible habit in the build up (regardless of which flank he's on) where when the balls played in to feet to him he often cuts back and runs with the ball directly in the direction of where the pass just came. It's like a tick and kills the momentum of the move

Isak's run OMFG !!!!!!
-
Gordon on !!! Howay eddie
-
Oh that Wilson goal
-
The jo jo combination works yet again
-
Need changes here otherwise Everton are finally going to make something happen. Almiron doesn't look fit to me, well off it
-
Bring Gordon onto the right for Miggy let him rile these fuckers right up
-
We've not been anywhere near the standards we've set mind
-
Looked well off
-
Yes !!!! My magic works !!
-
Refs very much a homer with i think two or three challenges on our players after the ball (Joelinton, schar and Bruno). Wilson and Miggy have been really poor.

Everton vs. Newcastle United: 27/04/23 @ 19:45 (BT Sport)
Keggy_Keagal replied to HaydnNUFC's topic in Football
Everton will pack the midfield and the back line, everyone behind the ball with Calvert Lewin up top on his own. They'll try and get Gray and McNeil in behind our full backs on the break (and even today Spurs were able to do that on occasion , obviously for Kane's goal). Threat from set plays with Tarkowski and Coady and we've not always defended corners well. The Willock/Joelinton switcheroo on the left should provide plenty of fruit particularly as they have Holgate out and Coleman who I presume will play right back is older than dust. Let's hope they don't bring their super sub of a stop oil protestor on , he was very good on the far post . -
Newcastle United 6-1 Tottenham Hotspur (23/04/2023)
Keggy_Keagal replied to Disco's topic in Football
First 20 or so we were elite. That run off the full back from from Joelinton (much like he did against West Ham it gets blamed on poor defending when it's as much about him judging it perfectly), Isak's movement and of course that Willock ball. We've all seen games this season when we've hammered teams but the chances just haven't gone our way . They're really starting to fall our way now. Days like today are to be savoured, we've just destroyed one of the big 6 of recent years. Howay The Lads !!
