Allan Saint-Maximin (now playing for Fenerbahce, on loan from Al-Ahli)

Had a far better game and did well for the assist. I was screaming at him to go outside Dalot more mind. -

Think we've just one of the biggest indications that Asm will be moved on in the summer. Offered little first half and Graeme Jones was apoplectic with him. It seems with Maxi it's one step forward and two steps back. Looked good at times last week but when Murphy's offering far more to the side and with a fit Joelinton due back it's looking like cameos at best in future. -
Well done for resisting the "not comfortable with crosses" gag .

Thought Burn and Botman had the baby oil bandit well under control barring that early run and cross -

I like Maxi and he's certainly trying but I just wonder about his decision making. So often he runs towards traffic when there's space on the outside for him . Even in the cup final he had Dalot on a yellow and never seemed to go at him again before Dalot was swapped for Wan Bissaka,. -
All keepers have odd moments and mistakes . Allison at Liverpool has , so has De Gea at Manchester United , Lloris has had loads this season (including against us ha) and of course our old pal Pickford. It's Pope's turn in the spotlight and understandably so with what happened in the Liverpool game and then missing the final.

Gerrin !! Howay the lads !! Isak has to be first choice. What on earth is going on with Wilson he looks absolutely knackered even jsut coming off the bench. Willock tremendous in midfield.

Isak giving me Henry vibes the day

As others have said Dubravka out as number 2 and Karius in for me.

Newcastle United 0-2 Manchester United (26/02/2023)

Need to use this disappointment as fuel to push on. Let's make fourth ours and get the Champion's League place. Schar needs to be upgraded on this summer as does Miggy and Burn can't be the left back any longer. All three are still good squad options however. As for Wilson, barring a positive turnaround as dramatic as his recent decline he needs dropping and we need to be starting Isak and giving him as much game time as possible to get him used to this league ready to hit the ground running next season. -

The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Postecoglu told to rack off by Spurs
Keggy_Keagal replied to cp40's topic in Football
If they get Bielsa he won't stand for any messing from the club like previous managers have had to put up with . As he's always done he'll give a list of the players he doesn't want, they won't be near the first team squad for training and he will rule every iota of that club or he walks. The mid week Murderball session will sort out the shithouses. In all honesty, though I adore Bielsa's coaching, if Everton get him I don't think he can keep them up . His style of play is based on a hard running game and I'm not convinced it can be properly instilled mid season. He'd be great to get them up out the Championship though and they'd be playing some liquid football. -
It's worth exploring. See what the naming rights deal is and what the proposed name would be then put it to the supporters for a vote. So long as there is transparency about the process. The owners have supporter trust at the moment it would be foolish to disrupt that.
-
"Devoted" ?? Whoever wrote that for him is taking the piss.

He never seems fit enough, quick enough or strong enough for box to box. As a defensive midfielder he was woeful today and poor against Tranmere, I don't know who has less confidence in his first touch me or him and how many times was his passing found wanting ?

1992-93 . We'd escaped by the skin of our teeth the previous May. Kevin had already had to have a bit of a tussle with the board and it kind of gets forgotten in retrospect that he was just utterly ruthless. The man was adamant that if he was going to lead Newcastle United he was doing it his way or not at all. The confidence and positivity he exuded is well documented but it was like a line had been drawn in the sand and he just demanded that this club acted and be treated like one of the great clubs in the land, and it had been soooo long since anyone had done that and for many of us never in our lifetimes. He pulled it all together by force of will and made it look effortless and in doing that pulled us into the Premier League. It was the closest thing to a magical manifestation I've ever seen and a privilege to see the black and white snowball start to roll. Hardy in his book Touching Distance does as good a job of trying to encapsulate that as any journalist or author can and is a cracking (if somewhat painful) read but I truly believe that experience is unknowable unless you were part of it. That was the key thing that always got missed by the rest of the country and the supporters that never got to feel what the club was like then. YOU were part of it . YOU were it, and Kevin never let that be forgotten. He never made these incredible achievements and moments about him or the players. He made them about us. He was and is an absolute legend and to be part of that golden era was his wonderful gift to us.

The pain of seeing Murphy come on though !! -
Made up this fella is our manager . Had some reservations initially but he just seems a class act all around.

Sounds fine to me . "I’m sure we can hopefully a land a player who can make a difference", gives me the impression it's pretty much one more big player and then done.

England: Burn and Gordon named in latest squad (Official)
Keggy_Keagal replied to Nobody's topic in Football
Never been 100% convinced by Saint Gareth. What's Southgate good at ? He picks his favourites, tries to maintain this Club England theme, cracks on like we're still a developing team rather than having a side with some of the best players in the World and Europe. and get's an easy ride from the press because he's re-established media privileges. His sides aren't set up for great attacking play and despite the conservative system are still sloppy at the back. We were a goal up against a side of Italian pensioners in a final and we conceded from a set play. Then he was lost as to how to change it. Croatia in the World Cup we're a goal up after 5 mins and again he doesn't know how to see it out or to build on it. We'll always be nearly men at best with him when I don't see a team with a better pool of players to pick from. -
Ian Wright, watch some of his goals , ridiculous finishing. Treated appallingly by Graham Taylor. The point about Serie A is so true , Signori was incredible uptop for Lazio but was nearly always played on the left for Italy .

Terrible players who become Messi/Ronaldo incarnate when playing us

Most recent example is Iwobi. Know a few Evertonians who think he's awful and can't wait to be shot of him .
