Newcastle United 0-2 Manchester United (26/02/2023)

Maybe it was specific to your area. I dunno. 133 just in front of you was certainly loud for large portions. But again… it’s unrealistic to expect everyone to be going full pelt for 90 mins. -

What I will say though is that passion is shown in multiple ways. There’s a large chunk of our away support who, although they sing when things are going well, spend the rest of the time pissing and moaning and generally being twats. Guy behind me screaming at the players after the second goal went in… “you’re a fucking embarrassment… you don’t deserve to wear the shirt”. Just pricks who use a match day to vent all of the anger from their miserable lives. It’s pathetic. He left to go to the bar 5 mins before half time, and was gone before the end of the game. They’re the ones who claim to be super passionate and vocal, but most of the time it manifests itself in man-child billy-big-bollocks behaviour. It’s not support… it might be loud… but it’s not support. -

I genuinely haven’t got a clue what you’re banging on about. Perhaps your section was quiet (so much for sage standing to improve atmosphere), but the seated area of 133, 134 etc behind the goal was standing all game and singing for very large parts of it. Not necessarily blaring out tunes start to finish all in unison, but showing a lot of support and big pockets of songs. I just think you’re unrealistically expecting everyone to be full pelt for 90 mins…it has never been like that and isn’t at any club. Man Utd fans were in large parts quiet as a mouse… certainly until they scored. They were loud at the end of the first half and towards the end of the game. The scarves were pretty pathetic. But that game also didn’t mean as much to them as it did to us. There clearly wasn’t the excitement in the fanbase on the levels of ours. -

It was incredibly loud where I was sat for about 50% of the game. Obviously when we went 2-0 it died down a bit, but first 25 mins and then second half I thought it was great. (and I was sitting in block 133… the bit you claim was quiet) -
I know what you mean, but he’s a player capable of much more creatively and as proven last season, can pop up with plenty of goals if given the chance. I do think long term we should be looking to try to play him further forward, but for now he’s doing a great job where he is.

Just back to the hotel after quite an amazing day (despite the result). Off the pitch it was a dream come true… walking up Wembley Way, clinging to my little boys’ hands as we walked up the ramp and through the turnstiles, to see the look of amazement on his 8 year old face when we saw the stadium, the flags, the atmosphere. True, life long, memories were made today. I’m so very proud of and grateful to the players, manager, staff and owners for giving me and my boy this moment together. On the pitch I can’t fault the lads effort and endeavour. First goal was dubious at best, some very dodgy decisions went their way, and second goal was just unlucky. We matched them in most other areas. We just lacked the confidence in front of goal. They, quite clearly, just had more game-changers available to them. It’s hard to really pin any blame on anyone, and I have no interest in even trying to. A day I will never forget. And we lost. Just imagine what it’ll be like, in the not too distant future, when we actually do win something. Special times are coming. -
That’s basically what I mean. I don’t think it was a purposeful thing… instinctual maybe… Just seems harsh to miss another game / 3 for something so irrelevant. It’s not dangerous. It’s not malicious. It’s a momentary lapse that already cost us in one game.
-
I don’t think he did it on purpose like. I think slipped, tried to header it, and reached out his arms as he fell down. I don’t think the intention was ever to catch the ball.
-
Actually quite proud of the team tonight. Other than 3 poor moments from us in the game, I thought we were really good. Looked plenty dangerous. Maxi was great. Big Jo was really good. Almiron put in a massive shift. Isak and Maxi seem to have a bit of rapport. Can’t fault the players effort at all. Pope had a moment of madness but it seems really fucking harsh to miss the final / 3 games for a momentary brain fart. Surely missing 70 mins of a crucial game is enough punishment? Anyway, on to the final. Win as a team. Lose as a team. It’ll be a fucking glorious day either way!

Absolutely horrific news… bless him. Always thought of him highly as a player in our darkest days. RIP.

To clarify, if Joelinton gets a yellow is he out of the final or not? -
Pickford ?
-
Eddie post match suggesting that Miggy and Maxi injuries don’t look too bad, but Willock’s might be a concern.
-
I think our recent downturn will almost certainly have to do with the upcoming cup final too. Whether it’s conscious or unconscious, the players haven’t been flying around the pitch at full intensity, and there’s definitely been a hint of pulling out of challenges. Can’t really blame them to be honest.
-
Poor performance but all round bad day. Injuries to Wilson, Maxi, Almiron, Willock and Joelinton’s card. Just fucking miserable.
-
Why?
-
When do we expect them to be found guilty / or not?
-
That’s the worst take I’ve read on this forum since the takeover. Wow.

I didn’t hear any moaning in the stadium today like. The odd moan and groan and misplaced passes, but certainly no booing or anything. I think today was quite simply a comedown after Tuesday. The players generally looked leggy… this coming week will do them good… and the fans too. A lot of emotion came out on Tuesday. Today was always going to be a tricky game on the back of that.
