  1. It fucking pisses me off tbh Barnes is so much better, our best attacker full stop imo. He does a serviceable job on the right, but from the left he's so dangerous and we're not really playing well enough to be shoehorning players.
  2. Barnes finds himself on the left and produces our best moment of the game. I'm shocked...
  3. Woltemade needs to control the ball better like, I appreciate he receives it under pressure but he loses it so clumsily and unconvincingly quite often.
  4. nah Bruno gets a permanent pass, he's so often the only one willing to try something creative and dynamic, maybe alongside Barnes
  5. New Peter Gabriel album as well? What a day
  6. Just thinking about me and the kids from now on, full of snakes here hun x
  7. Should just be black without the brick pattern. Would have been perfect. I rarely like it when there's a pattern printed into the fabric, it often feels like designers adding elements for the sake of filling space rather than being assured of the essentials.
  8. Absolutely absurd for a 19 year old out of position at this level of the game. I remember a while ago now, maybe last season even, listening to a Howe interview where he posited the idea of Miley as a full back. Almost like he knows what he's doing.
  9. Love the runs from Wissa and the early signs of a partnership with Gordon forming looks promising. It should give Bruno a welcome additional outlet to showcase his vision and class.
  10. Not terribly surprising tbf, both given the club we're talking about and the simple fact that he's just not that good and his football is tediously boring for the most part.
  11. It's those two games against Arsenal for me, to shut them out entirely over two legs with two very different note perfect performances was special. And then the final where we completely dominated and blew away the best team in the country at that time. I love that the cup win wasn't even necessarily close-run in what would be typical Newcastle fashion, we were the best team in the competition by some distance. Player wise, I love them all for what they achieved, but during the year I felt particular fondness towards Murphy, Joelinton, Schar and Bruno.
  12. 6 home games out of 7 after this. We're going on a title charge.
  13. Would love to see us really try to hone in on the Everton away blueprint. As far as I remember, we had a strong emphasis on getting players much, much closer to Woltemade/the striker and were quite fluid in how we went about it. Hall & Tino were often playing as inside forwards and we had almost a front 5 as a result which completely overwhelmed them. I really am bored of watching the same rigid, touch line wing play and the resulting hopeful crosses into the box looking for a bit of luck on the second ball.
  14. Tuned in to see his post match press conference. Now I know how Jacob Murphy feels.
  15. Can't wait until he scores an overhead kick like, seems to try them every time he's on the pitch. Mad bastard.
  16. Agree with those saying that the current system really isn't helping his game. He's been poor and regularly makes a mess of simply passes, but it's not all just on him. Gordon for Gingland.
  17. Finally brings Barnes on and puts him on the right. Please Eddie, I really want to back you.
  18. Genuine question, not rhetorical, can anyone with tactical awareness of the game describe what our plan seems to be? I see us working the ball out to Murphy which is fair as he plays some good crosses, however there's never anyone there for him to truly aim for and he's just hitting spaces (and doing so well mostly tbf). Surely there's more we're attempting than that, but I can't see it.
  19. If Tonali is hurt here, it’s a direct consequence of our meandering, aimless, total nonsense brand of football that puts our players constantly in dead ends and desperate situations.
  20. I like him, I think he offers us something unique. There's been an ongoing discussion for years now of our need for a "10", and the Ramsey profile is as close as we will get without having to shift systems entirely. He offers certain qualities we attribute to a 10 eg. comfortable in tight spaces, good with both feet, finds pockets of space between midfield and defence, good technical ability. Just hope he can stay fit and keep building momentum and progressing.
  21. Very true, something I overlook tbh. From him coming in and looking like he belonged in the Champions League a few years ago, to now filling in at right back superbly. You would consider it an achievement for a youth player to come in and do a serviceable job, so it's quite remarkable that he's looked accomplished more often than not and made massive contributions to a quality team at the highest level of the game.
  22. Big fan of Chalobah pointing at the ball at the end there like, admire the audacity.
  23. I really didn't like the crowd getting immediately on his back like, he needs a bit of backing and a lift to give him a chance.
  24. What's more alarming is that he appears to lack basic football awareness and instinct, he seems constantly behind the flow of the game, taking up the wrong positions which in turn make him unable to close the ball down effectively or be in the right position to receive a pass after the ball is turned over. It's these less tangible things which are causing me to feel sorry for him at this point such is how far out of his depth he looks for us.
