Got in the Premier League team of the season the year before that goal and was well regarded and liked long before that, would have been in most people's all-time back fours until relatively recently. Probably only Woodgate would have featured more. Couldn't have had his name on my shirt 2years before any goal.

Puts in simple terms the City dominance as a unique thing and existential to the league/football to bed. Boring though it may be, its no different to Man United back in the day. And prior to that Liverpool won eleven out of eighteen.

Don't think the pecking order of the cups has changed except fluctuations in the Europa & League Cup. Its more just the standard and standing of the Europa and Confrence have dropped massively from the UEFA/CWC days. I'd definitely have preferred the UEFA last millennium but not since really.

Not allowing investment in clubs has cut off the only chance.

Both comps are the English clubs cups to lose. They're going to have to change the rules or formats to change that.

I mean, we got to a QF and were thinking about finals even with the CL drop-outs under Pardew/Ashley and even before the CL drop outs Lazio, Spurs, Lyon, Bilbao, Inter, Napoli, PSV, Fenerbahce, Athletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool were in it - and its hugely diminished from even then now.

Definitely not the season that comes to mind for me when thinking of a similar one to this apart from the boring games against Manchester City. There's not many I'd put above 94/95 for results/performances/entertainment probably not even 96/97. This season has been more reminiscent of the Dalglish, Gullit, Souness seasons. Just middling.
