  1. I used to think it'd make a change to have someone other than Man City - but when its gone down to the last day between Liverpool and Man City, my feelings have been all in on Man City, so now I know better
  2. Man United had a 12point lead in March (later than us) in 97/98 and lost the title to Arsenal with games to spare. 91/92 they were top on February 22nd and won 2 of their next 13 league games. Leeds stole in winning only 6 of their next 14. They were so severe that Sheffield Wednesday were a point off top until a last minute goal for Palace in their penultimate game.
  3. I like them winning because the alternative has been Man United, Liverpool and Chelsea
  4. Yeah, think its just Liverpool have less of the ball and have to do more defending these days so its more pronounced
  5. Liverpool deploying official intimidating gamesmanship tactics....also well i never.
  6. Arsenal deploying dark arts and game stiffling tactics......well I never
  7. Everything is worth an appeal now, decent chance VAR could find something to give a penalty/free-kick for in a crowded area even they have nothing in mind for the appeal. Hate the cunt.
  8. Its like this idea we've 'lost our soul' - what from the Ashley era!?!? - Would have a case if they'd taken over from Hall/Shepherd but it wasn't possible to be more souless than what we were under Ashley. Villa are one of the clubs whose attendances from the same era, more often and since. 22,000 when top of the league in 1990 always stands out but many 15-19s too, in the top-flight, not the lower reaches of the 2nd division. Its because they're not heralded enough contemporarily to warrant it. Flattering really. Its all there for every club outside Arsenal/Man U/Liverpool and you don't have to go that far back for any of the others.

    Anthony Gordon

Was surely just a time killing sub, no indictment of his performance credit Lascelles and Ritchie mind for being professionals about their useage
  10. Reminiscent of Derby away under Sir Bobby 2-0 down 2-3 up with a second-half blitz after an iffy display. Same time of the year too. Hoping for the same outcome in the season overall.
  11. I don't know if we can absorb this. The work they'll do in training now only to have ASM miss most of the season. As opposed to someone available. Not sure he's worth selling now either (price wise) because of it. Conudrum.
  12. Suddenly seems very clear Forest, Leicester, Southampton
  13. Was wondering why its rattled them so much, but forget that being anti-NUFC is a fundamental and the essence of their support to a lot of them.
  14. Wrexham v Notts County on Monday. Tasty.
  15. Some boy this bloke. Expected him to be sumptuous to watch, creative, different but not prolific with goals. Snip of a signing. The recruitmanship now might even pass Keegan's.
  16. Have looked forward to us getting a lead like that with the other team trying to get back in to see what we'd look like. With, for example, freshly brought on Miggy, Maxi and Murphy running at them. Turns out, unsurprisingly, we'd be decent.
  17. I don't mind Moyes at all. He often seems to have these seasons though - was like this at Everton, over-achieve, then under achieve. Good solid mid-table and cut out all the mood swings would probably be better for him. Victim of his own success, or maybe regulator of his own under-achievement I suppose.
  18. That's the game I was at, not the 1-5 one so couldn't say for sure. Down to ten too. Was very frustrating but strangely positiive too with the fight. Sir Bobby's fire in his post match was fantastic along the lines of 'you wouldn't know who was down to to ten' - Lineker made some glib comment back in the studio like 'you got stuffed Bobby' and remember argueing with people that weren't there that we were actually pretty good.
  19. "Can’t wait for next season when hopefully teams like Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea at least make a fist of the top 4? Some strong opposition in the CL will also be most welcome." (Joey Joe Jo Shabadoo) copium much? Be a right laugh watching your hated rivals playing at the highest level of club football, beyond what you will ever experience, because three other clubs will be a stronger challenge to their quest to finish in the top4 (also beyond what your will ever experience). Just the cure for losing to Rotherham and Stoke that like.
  20. Gabby's just referenced the Coventry away game in 98, also 1-5. iirc much like this it wasn't as sublime as it lookied, though we thought it was the start of 'sexy football' under Gullit. also iirc we played better the following season and lost 4-1
  21. Cursed in front of goal. Would love a notch just to see if we goes on a Miggy. Never hides from a crack mind. The assist was percentages. So great seeing him contribute like this. Looks as happy as toon fan playing for a quality toon team.
  22. Apart from a good portion of the game, its like what Man City do to these there on a regular basis
  23. Scrappy really, but we know Eddie will be on that, confidence from the result will coarse through the veins, Howe will moderate that too. good that Brentford haven't been battered scoreline wise too weekend in mind
