  1. Apropos of nothing, got a feeling Northampton will nick it at Carlisle
  2. Palpably felt myself with that first dive and inevitable very soft free-kick in the second-half.

    Dan Burn

Not even fair to Burn at this point to keep plugging away with him. Its not like he's been sub-par, he's been very poor recently.
  4. Bodes well for a response against Spurs mind Got to make the Targett for Burn change.
  5. Getting beat fair and square so this is a side issue - but the referee is as much of a homer as I've ever seen
  6. Felt all season that when a players playing badly the grass isn't greener on the other side, such is the nature of the squa/over achievement re subs. Its much more a team performance that needs changed. Its kind of flattening to continue on with them but not exactly encouraging whoever comes on. Like micro versions of Viana/Robert against Wolves in 04.
  7. Wonder what he'd have managed at Bournemouth and with us in a year. Every one of your posts slaughters the team/manager/club is the point generally and specifically how the bed wetting (whether through excitement or distress at a bad performance) can backfire when context is abandoned.
  8. Maybe don't base things on 45minutes like a baby/idiot/depressant/troll Like "Rice is by far the best player on the pitch and normally I don't particularly rate him." at West Ham a few weeks back.
  9. Wasn't before Bruce, was one of our better grounds, hadn't lost there for nearly 9years, and had lost 7 league games in 28years
  10. Was a day kick-off on a weekday, mind Anfield was mostly empty for a night game so maybe more about the ticket prices - £45 in 1996. England, Scotland and Holland were the only teams that played in full stadiums. Gets forgotten about beneath "its coming home" and all that but it was a poor tournament on and off the field. I was excited about Hagi, Stoichkov, concievably Ginola and Cantona but most English football fans apparently weren't bothered about football outside of the country, unless its Brazil, not that their shallow or owt.
  11. Shame we didn't do a five in a row 02-07 because of all the challenging for titles and Champions League football and what not and as a consequence it went entirely unnoticed, busy as we were concentrating on our own betterment. Sad bastards sure know how to live.
  12. Its not new that Real Madrids fans are demanding and dispassionate, they even used to get pretty poor gates in Europe until the millennium on the other hand its Real f*cking Madrid
  13. its not a question of his ability so much as its a question of his lack of availability as opposed to having someone else. Woodgate was, probably still is, the best defender I've ever seen in a Newcastle shirt but wasnt concerned with selling him because was an injury waiting to happen and managed to play about a third of the time. Especially baring ffp and squad size in mind, it would be foolish NOT to think about moving on and I'm sure its a consideration within the club
  14. "Weighing it up, the Stadium of Light, as a stadium if far superior, it's not even close at the moment." -Harbour Boy
  15. Euro96, 2012 Olympics, 2015 Rugby World Cup, 2022 Rugby League World Cup, potential Euro2028 One more for the 'Landfill' and "their eye-sore".... its almost as if things aren't actually how they see them
  16. if just two of Blackburn, Millwall and Preston win two of their remaining 5games (6 in Blackburn's case) they'd require 10points, 3wins plus from 5 games and by far their best form of the season. Millwall and Preston are playing each other iirc so good chance one of them will be halfway to that. Any other walk of life than football and you just cant see it.
  17. Entirely boils down to whether they stay up or not. If they go down it was a pathetically stupid suicidal appointment, what good is 'steady' when you've got relegation written all over if they stay up it did the job its not like Rafa who was a good appointment period. Its a rotten appointment beyond the interim, sort of thing Ashley would fetch up.
  18. A short sharp shock doesn't always work but someone who took a team down with a whimper (1win in 16) less than a year ago with a far lower reputation than they guy you've just sacked has got to be demoralising all round. The interim situation is better suited to wild cards or over-matched manager to the club, reigns them into a concenrated period not for mediocrities.
  19. Its always been harsh on any team that just misses out on automatic promotion but its just tough shit really though I personally hate the play-offs if it was two automatics the season would have been over months ago.
  20. Millwall Preston play each other next, likely not make up ground on at least one of them, then there's three left no idea their fixtures however.
  21. Preston gonna sneak a play-off spot. Only team below Luton in any form.
  22. Preferred the Samson the Cat mascot to this Gollum one.
  23. The only two Ashley seasons that weren't boring prior to Rafa's arrival we were a complete shambles and got relegated with far more at our disposal. Half a season of Keegan and Roeder aside, you're going back to Sir Bobby for the last time it wasn't boring or entertaining in a completely shambolic and disasterous way. Boring was a virtue by comparison. It was more 'boring' than McLaren's football in the same way that not falling out of a window despite being ushered towards it is more boring than falling out of a window despite being ushered away from it.
