  1. Think the rant about the remark about people leaving early was mostly about the result. Its been a hardy perennial and by no means just here, for thirty years now.
  2. Were not going to finish top 4 but it was a bonus to be in there in the first place and would have been a pleasant surprise to maintain it.
  3. It was sung in good faith but you'd have to have some ego on you to think it was appropriate. I'd never think to do that with the Blaydon Races at someone elses ground for a minutes silence for one of their former players.
  4. Lack of goals is by far our biggest problem. We've struggled all season to get the goals we've deserved for play and chances created. Didn't think Wilson would be engulfed in it like Wood but he only is.
  5. Feel like we've more momentum from this than we'd have had if the final was tomorrow after Bournemouth/West Ham.
  6. Would have snapped hands off for this after 20minutes. Was totally thinking that farce under Pardew
  7. You know, how much weaker are we than we were in 3rd at the turn of the year and everyone happy? Probably not at all. We've injuries and our best player suspended otherwise there'd be no difference. I presume the biggest plaintiffs also slaughtered Wood mercilessly.
  8. Absolutely. Cant ask anymore with the game gone than an encouraging performance of character. Not comparable to Derby in 92 with eight men - but I like to think since we won the next thirteen games something can be gotten out of this
  9. Earning a start next week with attitude alone.
  10. January/February results in the fondly remembered promotion season of 92/93 under Keegan. West Ham a 0-0, Bristol Rovers h 0-0, Portsmouth a 2-0, Southend a 1-1, Luton a 1-1, Rotherham cup a 1-1 January/February results in the Entertainers season of 93/94 under Keegan Wimbledon a 4-2, Luton h cup 1-1, Luton a cup 2-0, Blackburn a 1-0, Southampton h 1-2 (and I think that was all consecutive)
  11. Exceptions and rules. He's lost two league games. Think the others more than balance that out and afford him a little credit.
  12. They were fine until a goal against the run of play ffs
  13. Were down to 10men and were all over them until they scored.
  14. Actually thought our best chance of winning the final was penalties and Pope. Oh well. Didn't think we'd win today or next week but fair to say I never envisaged it could go this bad.
  15. One thing that couldn't be levelled it him was not being there for chances
  16. Brighton manager hired for the least Brighton-esque operation in the sport not working out, Who'd have thunk it?
  17. 14' stoppage time at Huddersfield where old Warlock leads
  18. Momentum of a new manager notwithstanding - Carrick's looking some boy. 6th bottom or something when he took over. They're going to catch Sheffield United.
  19. Hate not being able to give the likes of these our best crack. Obviously wouldn't grumble with a point and no injuries and suspensions
  20. Leeds v Southampton next. Interesting.
  21. Sounds like its about revenge for the 6 in a row with some. I'm totally placated and secure with the way things are I don't feel that way or the need to have them be anything more than a laughing stock/harmless lower league neighbur that we'll likely finished ahead of every season for the rest of our lives. That's anything but a losers mentality possibly. We won thirteen league games in a row then lost at home to Grimsby without scoring. Football isn't science. Just personally us playing them would be the first time in a decade i'd actually be watching them live so it might be isolated but certainly applies to me. (the oblivion thing).
  22. They are in oblivion now for as much as it concerns us and have been for years. Playing them would bring them out of that. Besides it doesn't work like that. We've had by far the better team several times and won shit games narrowly or didn't win at all. Even if we actually did it wouldn't be as much of a hammering as them not even being good enough to get to play us.
  23. Owen and Inzaghi are the worst footballers there. Crespo was like a similarly raw but better version of both. Ronaldo, Shearer, Shevchenko, Crespo, Adriano, Larsson Inzaghi, Owen
  24. More nuts than wanting local rivals to be promoted? I didn't want better Newcastle sides than this to play them. What's to gain for us anyway but especially when every game is important again to us now? Aside from the fact nearly every one has been a bad game. - The mackems did that in Washington which actually is 50/50 (or was) when they got to a final. I say was because some shop fronts already looked like that before we'd reached a final. Takes me back to the 90s
