What the actual funk happened today? Amazing game. -
So, what's the biggest lead Arsenal's had at the top of the league this season? If they manage to lose out on the title will they have dropped as big a bollock as we did during 'that' season?

So, just watched the highlights on MOTD, yeah we had an off day, it happens. Our defence looked slow to react and the Villa attack looked like they were playing out of their skins, Watkins in particular had a stormer. That said, it probably helps highlight areas that need improvement in the next transfer window (not that I think Eddie or the owners really need much help there). Hopefully it'll act as a refocusing for the team, to be honest though Villa deserved it, just a shame they have some right knob-ends in their fanbase who seem to have this weird idea of some sort of rivalry between us and them - as far as I'm concerned, as a Newcastle fan, they're nothing to me other than having some small-time style fans.

I read this morning that Liverpool have decided against going for Bellingham, I wonder where he'll be off to then. Still like Maddison for us though.

The lads have played as a team all season and even if that meant a sub got subbed for example, it's for the benefit of the team and a tactical decision made by the manager. Regardless of passion or wanting to play, Gordon shouldn't be acting like this, it's petulant and disrespectful to Eddie and his teammates.

I'm afraid I'll never be able to forgive him for his part in Sir Bobby losing his job. Was an excellent foil to an aging Shearer, loved to see him winding up other team's players, but we were already on a downward slide by the time he had his bust up with Souness.

Very much so, with the shit, homer officiating, dodgy VAR and a couple of sitters missed, it deffo looked like it was going that way! Good three points though against a team who deserved nothing from the game.

Alexander Isak - Nominated for Player of the Season
Armchair Pundit replied to Disco's topic in Football
First half was great, second half, not so much. Need to be starting Isak, some of the players deffo benefitting from a rest and being subs instead of starting. No way Wilson should be starting over Isak any time soon, think the season's been catching up on us since Christmas, we need these rotations for the remainder of the season I think. Hopefully win the next match and keep the pressure on the teams above us. -
Bloody baaaah! Why couldn't Man Utd play like that against us in the final, typical shite this!
-
We looked good previously with Burn and Botman in central defense, just need Targett back. Shame about Big Joe, but at least with Maxi back available it softens the blow a bit. Our biggest problem is we don't have a clinical finisher up top and our midfield have lost their scoring ability as well, maybe it's a confidence thing, probably just knackered though.

Think I prefer Lacelles to Scharr, on corners at least.

Newcastle United 0-2 Manchester United (26/02/2023)
Armchair Pundit replied to Disco's topic in Football
Anyway, back to the football, thought yesterday was a good match all things considered. It was end to end stuff and apart from Man Utd being more clinical in the finishing for their two goals I didn't think there was much between the team tbh. When you think about how far behind we are as a club, 15 years of being held back and the complete lack in squad depth, I reckon it's right to think our future is bright. Hopefully it'll help show the chairman what we need to improve and it'll be a good bit of experience for a team who have outdone themselves to get where they are in the league and cup this season. -
Hoping Madders comes on and injures Rashford enough for him not to play in the final

I doubt that greatly, it's in his dna to be like it I think
