Something that's occurred to me (and it might have been mentioned already), I assume us getting to the final gives us an extra opportunity to be in Europe next season - not from winning the final but with the other finalist being Man Utd, so as long as they finish in the European places we'd essentially get their spot from the cup if we don't manage it ourselves? All in all, we should be in Europe next season unless something drastic happens.

Imagine a transfer window of Gordon and Maddison coming in, holy shitbags, that's some serious intent! I assume they'd replace Willock and Longstaff (and I say 'replace', more that they'd be moved to being squad players, giving us much more strength in depth'. Not sure where it'd leave ASM though, I mean I can't imagine him being content with being a squad player for much longer)

Buying these players isn't the same as developing them, especially if they were doing it to swamp the market. Besides, they buy/bought that many some were always going to slip through.

Chelsea used to do that under the previous owner tbh, buying all the young players coming through or just pretty much anyone with potential, then loaning them out or just letting them rot in their reserves.
