As much as I hate to admit it, I'd say Ferguson. Hitzfeld and Scolari must be close, all three won with different teams at different levels. That's before putting other names in there who did amazing things with smaller teams, like Clough, Stein, etc. There's others on par as well who won with multiple bigger teams, like Cudicini and Jose - of course, I'd be being biased if I added Robson in there, but what he did with Ipswich needs a mention. -

I've always found it a bit tedious with the whole 'Pep is the best manager EVER' thing. I mean, it's not like he's ever really had that hard of a job has he? Every club he's managed has already been there or thereabouts and also has generally had masses of cash to spend to bring in the best players for the league they're in. Could he successfully manage a worse team and actively get more out of worse players? I'm not so sure. Then again, it's just another reason the current crop of pundits comes across as being lazy or just agreeing with whatever fits the current Sky agenda. Edit - for the record, I'm not saying Pep's shit, I quite like him as it happens, but I'm just not convinced he's the best. -

Fuck me, now they're rattling on about Man City losing to Tottenham - got to talk about those 'special' teams, right? -

Same old shite from Sky, makes me laugh when 'Spitter' Carragher is even tossing one off over Man Utd, predictable bollocks over the same rigged teams -
Nope, don't want him, unless it's at a massively knocked down price.
-
Weirdly, definitely seem to play better with him in the team - although, that could also just be the turn of the recent dip. Either way, we've looked better of later and if people want to give him credit for that, I'm not going to stop them

The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Frank in at Tottenham
Armchair Pundit replied to cp40's topic in Football
Feels a bit like another 'Steve Bruce' appointment to me, put out there and encouraged by the media because Jose has a tenuous link to us and it'd make good soap opera football for them to report on. (obviously has a bit more about him though than Bruce) -
Wanted by Fulham, Southampton, Crystal Palace and Brentford in January apparently... of course, to Crystal Palace we'd need to be starting off at £50m... then raising it by £5m each week, until the end of the transfer window

Poor bloke, it must be devastating to get a £15m pay off when you've done a shit job of something... -

I don't really know anything about this guy, other than a brief look at his wiki page. I'm probably missing something, but he doesn't strike me as being skilled or experienced enough for a Prem club the size of Man Utd... still, if it all goes further to shit for them, who am I to argue -
£70m! Bwahahahahahahahaha!

There's a big difference in the following of International football over club football, I've never felt that comfortable with the idea of anyone without a vested interest, from a nationality point of view, having anything to do with another country's team. I understand that's not a popular view with some, but I can see there being so many conflicts of interest or just general excuses for issues on both sides.

Financial Fair Play / Profit & Sustainability
Armchair Pundit replied to Mattoon's topic in Football
I imagine the PL are finding themselves in a very difficult place, I suspect that the Americans are holding them to ransom to some degree over the potential of them leaving for a 'World Super League' or other nonsense as well. What an utter, utter mess. -

Armchair Pundit replied to Mattoon's topic in Football
Well, if rumours are to be believed and the PL are calling another emergency meeting this morning, they'll probably come up with yet another half-baked, anti-competitive rule to stop us and Man City, which would then start the whole nonsense process all over again, until the next legal challenge a year or so down the line. The PL and it's American cohort of conspirators are blatantly corrupt at this point and will do pretty much anything to stop competition and hide their dodgy dealings.
