  1. Amexx is notorious for being the worst ground to get back from isn't it?
  2. Well yeah, I think we all agree with that, but the point is that selling Minteh wasn't the egregious part of it, that bit of it was fine.
  3. Only really true if you conveniently forget that the potential alternative was to sell Anthony Gordon to Liverpool
  4. "Who would have seen this at half time!?" Literally anyone who's familiar with Spurs, Alan.
  5. Mad that Brighton look this bad when they have the world's best right winger.
  6. Have Brighton heard of defending?
  7. There had to be something wrong with it, it's in Werner's contract that he's not allowed to score.
  8. Can't believe the team leaving us behind were absolutely shite and held at home to Man United.
  9. Aye but again he was only 22 and I don't think anyone would argue he was good enough for Liverpool either then or now, though 'carthorse' is OTT imo. The injuries point gb was making was about him having a great career, not being good enough for Liverpool or being a top notch centre forward. All by the by anyway tbh, Carroll on paper wasn’t the type of striker I really like at all, I'm much more a fan of the Henry type player, or Suarez. Didn't matter, I absolutely loved him and was devastated when we sold him. Nothing changes that really.
  10. He was also 22 when he went to Liverpool, gbandit said he'd have had a great career, not that he was a top centre forward. Think the bit about him being from Gateshead is wrong as well. He was unplayable for us, particularly in the air, for a good 18 months, no need to downplay that. We still look back fondly on Cisse's (not a better all round centre forward imo anyway) purple patch, so no reason not to with Carroll.
  11. Said it before, but he strikes a ball like in those dreams where you throw a punch and it does nothing.
  12. Do you really think there should need to be an other than that? You're talking about a pen, a perfectly positioned one on one, and a lucky clearance off the line. Those 3 mixed in with a good handful of decent chances, half chances and opportunities and that doesn't strike me as below what should be needed to win handedly.
  13. The pen and one on one were more than enough to win the game alone. Gordon doesn't fluff his lines and no one is talking about how we didn't create enough imo.
  14. Depends where you look. I've seen our xG as 1.79, 2.05, and 2.8. Bruno cleared off the line Gordon inexplicably cushioning a header back to Joelinton Bruno skying it Almiron volley Tonali blocked shot Tonali from a corner About 40 instances of Joelinton, Barnes, Gordon, Murphy, Trippier, Tonali, Livramento getting played in and putting in a poor final ball.
  15. It should be mentioned, mainly because it's literally the first instance of it I've witnessed, but Pawson was good last night. Could barely believe it when he blew up for full time and had got through the match without an insane decision.
  16. It's not a comparison, as I keep saying it's not about better or worse, it's about different. Burn is in better form than Guehi, but we can't play a high line because Burn's too slow, without a high line we can't press, without pressing one of our main attacking threats is lost. Guehi, even in poor form, facilitates that.

Totally understand if the criticism is that we should have signed someone more ready-made or that you don't agree with Howe's bedding in methods. Daft if you're asking why he's not getting a sniff though, you should know Howe by now.
  18. Like I say though, better and how you play aren't the same. If Guehi plays (in Burn's position until Botman's back imo, with Hall, Burn, Kelly rotating at LB) then we're much more likely to play a high line and it completely changes the way the entire team plays.

Thought he was decent if not spectacular. One misplaced pass early on and then spot on. Maybe would have liked a bit more from him as an attacking threat when it became apparent that our forwards couldn't finish their dinners, but not really his fault.
  20. Playing well is different from how you play.

    Anthony Gordon

I think that was something I've never seen before. I've seen players bottle it, shrink, get revenge, play the panto villain etc. I don't think I saw Gordon do any of that, it looked to me more like someone overdosing on confidence. The pen and the one on one aside he was very good and he seemed unaffected by both misses, which in itself seemed a bit odd.
