  1. It's that he's moved from the arms behind to not behind position that does it.
  2. Probably a non-CL pen that tbf.
  3. He's so fucking good. The best around at the moment.
  4. These two teams are the antidote to the shit we've seen this season, class to watch.
  5. Yeah I know, don't mind comms for this one though, Champion's good.
  6. Shearer co-comms rhythm is like Danny Dyer talking about some nawty boys.
  7. I think with Woltemade it was maybe more a case of us paying way above what Bayern had offered and also after the big 6 had had their pick of everyone, whereas Tonali was a mid window signing IIRC.
  8. That's one way to view it yeah. On the other hand, he created a smokescreen (Barella) and stole a march on any other potential clubs getting in there, no leaks, and done within 2 days at a good price. Compare and contrast with the endless leaks, tip offs to other clubs and inability to get anything done in the summer gone.
  9. Feels like a second language lost in translation thing, would that be fair? His form isn't trending downwards, form doesn't usually apply when a player has just come back from injury, 'still getting up to speed/match fit' would probably be better.
  10. Might try the old reverse bet that got us a cup final win with no Joelinton yellow card (you're welcome) and bet on Brighton to win and a Welbeck goal.
  11. While true, he definitely had an impact on our ability to land those targets. Eg there's no way the stand in recruitment team we had last summer would have got Tonali over the line in the way Ashworth did.
  12. Customary mention of Guardiola's record without Rodri before he spent a fortune to overcome it.
  13. From what I've seen, they're keeping Slot next season. I don't think they would either, but I don't think it would be anywhere near as crazy as some make out, definitely not crazier than Kompany to Bayern for example. Especially as one of the main points that's made in the 'If not Eddie, who?' thread is that we could/should be looking at managers who haven't reached their full potential yet - something that I think you could very easily view Howe as being.
  14. The two seasons Klopp had before going to Dortmund were relegation and failure to get promoted. His season before going to Liverpool he had Dortmund in 7th on 46 points. Kompany's season before Bayern was relegation with Burnley. Everyone thought they were a bit mental to hire him. If clubs rate someone and target them, for better or worse they tend not to have the same short-term view fans tend to have.
  15. Very obvious point but there were 3 seasons before this one.
  16. For lots of different reasons these are the successes imo Isak Tonali Gordon Barnes Bruno Tino Thiaw Hall signing Wood Burn Trippier Pope Kelly Osula Targett loan On the fence: Minteh The ones where they're neither failures or successes, but time will tell: Woltemade Ramsey Botman Cordero Failures so far/potential outright failures: Wissa Elanga Outright failures: Targett signing Vlach Ones that feel like they can only be categorised as N/A: Karius Ruddy Hall loan

    Lewis Hall

    Fake news, they were boxers.
  18. Some of the takes during this period will go down in history like.
  19. Phew, that was a close one.
  20. A CEO doesn't just sign off on deals, look at Staveley's role in the documentary, even just look at Jamie Reuben's attempt to sign Sesko and win Isak around in the summer when he finally got involved. You know that it's more than signing off. Having a DoF isn't just about what they themselves bring to the table either, and which we've all gone through ad nauseum, but about freeing up the people who were tasked with doing that job, and who already have jobs of their own, to focus on their own jobs.

    Nick Woltemade

Yorkie going scorched earth and me trying to be respectful...interesting.

    Nick Woltemade

Tbf, with respect, you're a Nick Woltemade fan not a Newcastle fan and haven't necessarily been around long enough to make these assertions about our manager. That's not to say that others might not make them, but 'unsuccessful concept' doesn't match up with our overwhelming success under Howe until this season and "Howe and [insert player here] are a bad match" could have been said about a handful of new signings under Howe who then played much more the following season and hit form.
