I still don't know why we're bothering, these players are absolutely not it in terms of getting near to replacing Wissa let alone Isak. Who's to say one of the players we missed out on isn't available next summer and sees the error in their ways.

£60m for a 28 year old with a year left on his contract is basically saying he's not for sale, which is fair enough. We should be doing the same. You would hope that we had a feeling this would happen and have a plan B for replacing Wilson, but I haven't seen any links at all tbh.

I don't think he will have to get over it considering we bid for Maddison, were in for Szobozlai and recently went for Pedro. All different profiles, but Howe clearly wants a player who can play that hybrid 8/10 role or in Pedro's case 9/10

Honestly the whole reintegration thing is uncharted territory for us at this level. We had Cabaye but nothing this high profile or to this extent. If it had never happened at other clubs before I'd take the point that there's no way back for him, but it has, multiple times, with success. Football fans are fickle, plenty will never forgive him and rightly so, but there's plenty of room inbetween forgiveness and being unforgiving. There's redemption, atonement, salvaging part of his reputation. It'll never be the same, but personally from a fan's perspective I'd like to be able to re-watch our matches and enjoy all of them rather than have to think about all this crap every time he features.

We had Chris Wood who for all his faults was a much more suitable option at CF than those two, as hard as they'd try. Wissa is a shoo-in imo.
