  1. I've had my issues with the general attitude on certain things on here at times over the years, but flippant stuff like that immediately after a loss has always been a thing and so in the minority that it's incredibly easy to ignore. I wouldn't take it too seriously, there are far more toxic places online, but each to their own.
  2. I just think about when I lived in Japan, it genuinely took me about a month to get over the jet lag when I first got there. It had nothing to do with the flight itself, it was the time difference that completely fucked me up, I barely knew where I was and that was 7 hours and a few hundred miles less East than Austrailia.
  3. I think you're presenting this as the norm when it's anything but. I've never known these tournaments happen at the end of a season, ever, always pre-season. And it's not just Trippier up in arms about it, if you watched Howe's pre-Man United presser he made it obvious in Howe's own typical style that he wasn't happy about it either. If the complaint was "we don't get paid enough to do this" I'd be agreeing with you, but the complaint is because they care about the negative effect it'll have on them being able to do their job to the maximum, which is the sort of professionalism I want from them.
  4. The thing that always gets forgotten in these points is that they're elite sportspeople, playing competitively at a level where every little advantage counts. If you're flying for 25 hours there, 25 hours back you're automatically at a disadvantage vs players who haven't done that, regardless of their level of quality. Your advantage is being needlessly compromised for a marketing campaign. The morality over how they're compensated is irrelevant really as it has nothing to do with the basis of the complaint.
  5. He's absolutely right, the jet lag will be ridiculous

    Andy Cole

Yeah, very different telling of the story about when he pissed off for 3 days. You would think it's easy to know whose version is true considering KK's version includes all of the players and coaching staff being there during training.
  7. I agree with you here tbf.
  8. I think this is potentially one of those ones where, similar to the rationale for VAR in the first place, you make the assumption that they'll make the correct decision then when they don't it's infuriating on a higher level. Personally cautious about adding layers with their own repurcussions (eg what if Gordon was hauled down after we'd used a captain's challenge?) when the focus could be on fixing/replacing existing methods, eg automated offsides and a clearer and fairer interpretation of handball.
  9. Miggy sliding in for Gordon's ball across goal for me, but with hindsight it's dawned on me just how many chances we should have buried.
  10. Barnes's goal record would suggest that providing we can get that out of him when he's fully up and running, he'll be worth every penny.
  11. Although I did think we didn't look right for a big chunk of the first half, I think this is reasonable.
  12. If it wasn't obvious, 'I support Newcastle' was just shorthand for 'we haven't won a trophy in my lifetime'
  13. If I've got my numbers right Brentford on Sunday will be our 51st game of the season. This season from a squad of 33, we've only had 8 outfield players who have started or played a significant amount in 30 games or more. Of them: Bruno: 48 Gordon: 48 Schär: 43 Longstaff: 40 - injured then played through injury Burn: 38 - was injured for a month Isak: 37 - was injured for a month then took a while to hit form Trippier: 36 - was out for 2 and a half months Almiron: 32 - was out for 2 and a half months Those are the players who've played the most The rest of the regulars below haven't started or played a significant amount in 25 games Livramento: 25 Miley: 22 Botman: 21 Joelinton: 21 Murphy: 21 Lascelles: 20 Pope: 20 Wilson: 17 Anderson: 14 Krafth: 12 Hall: 11 Barnes: 11 Willock: 10 Tonali: 8 I've likely got some numbers wrong but I think you get the general idea regardless.
  14. I have to be completely honest like, it was completely over for me with him when he went to Man United on loan. I feel like I've given him credit where it's due since then, but the way he went there was a watershed moment for me and I just haven't liked him since. Probably a bit childish, but I can't help it.
  15. I support Newcastle, if you think I'm going to turn my nose up at winning any cup then you're off your tits.
  16. Anyone who's watched Trippier's career knows that he's got a rick in him, he even had a couple last season when he was our player of the season, but because of his age the assumption is that he's finished, which is just daft. He's clearly not fully fit as well. It'll be when his pace has completely gone that he'll be nearing the end.
  17. Yeah it's mad. Really bad season, but scored more in one season than Ginola did in his Newcastle career.
  18. I swear that the definition of bottling it now is just 'being in a position to achieve something and then for any reason it doesn't happen'
  19. I really don't feel like this is the case. The reason we have VAR is because everyone whinged for years about shocking decisions, I don't ever remember a time when it was fine. When the decision is still wrong after it's gone to VAR it's 10x worse definitely, but it does feel like decisions are now right much more often since VAR's come in.
  20. 'Officiating' I should say. Thought he was poor first half, better second. I didn't spot the pen until the final angle but they didn't at all and it's their job.
  21. A bit of everything, poor, sometimes decent, missed loads of chances, poor defending, really poor goalkeeping, poor refereeing. We never looked right imo. At 1-0 and 1-1 we looked better but at 2-1 you just knew.
  22. Again, you sound like every other person who's just like you.
  23. Did I hear the commentator right..."Man United haven't lost after going ahead in a league game at Old Trafford since 1984" !?! Surely I misheard or that's a lie.
