  1. Aye, it was a shit finish. No conviction in it whatsoever

Put it this way, because of our form, injuries and Man United's form going into this, I was probably about 40/60 in favour of Man United. Without Pope and with Karius alone, I'm now probably 25/75 in favour of Man United.

Losing the 'keeper who rocked up and broke a few of our 130 year old records within 20 games, is top of loads of key metrics in the league this season, and who some argue is already the best Newcastle goalkeeper they've ever seen, for a 'keeper whose career was famously ruined by two massive mistakes in a final isn't going to change all that much apparently
  4. Our xG was over 2 yesterday even with 10 men and only 0.3 lower than Liverpool's. We definitely have a finishing issue rather than a chance creation issue imo. Wilson's form especially post World Cup has been a big problem, as he's supposed to be the one you can depend on.
  5. Does this include head to heads? If not it should and would be Man U +12 Liverpool +9 Spurs -4 Chelsea -7

    Nick Pope

Nah, only for violent conduct/serious foul play
  7. He was class until the Champions League final, but it's a bit like saying Ayrton Senna was class until San Marino.

I agree, it's the missing of a final that really sets it apart though. If Pope just missed Man City away it wouldn't feel harsh, yet if Joelinton had picked up a yellow yesterday he'd have a two match ban, but only in the league and not miss the final.
  9. Because similar to us, they now have something to make a noise about. It's been noticeably louder for the first time this season. It was awful for years like.
  10. I wonder why we consistently come up in away fans' top home support then. It's usually us or Leeds or Palace at the top. Context obviously matters as well, I wouldn't say that 0-0 at Old Trafford was standard, it was a good match with loads of chances. Our Southampton match was nervy both off and on the pitch. I doubt anyone who went to Arsenal at home, or Brentford, Villa, Forest, Chelsea etc think we have an atmosphere problem. It could be better but it's generally much better than the other big stadiums like Anfield, Etihad, Emirates, London Stadium.
  11. Should have said "you're calling me an idiot with eyebrows like that?" and then never explained further.

The game ban in circumstances like this feels overly harsh like. He and we were already punished with the red card, it feels overly harsh that he'll miss a cup final for a mistake, as opposed to say endangering an opponent or something. Obviously the rules are the rules and you have to suck it up, but it does feel really shan, as Lineker pointed out on MOTD.
  13. Yes I'm aware of that. I'm asking because in comparison with most other home crowds our atmosphere is miles better. Sometimes it takes witnessing other home crowds to appreciate your own.
  14. I can't work out that performance. I'd rely on him for most things more than any other player. He's the best right back I've ever seen at Newcastle. Then he goes and 1) plays them onside for both goals and 2) wastes his time and energy shouting for a handball and offside when VAR exists and he could attempt a recovery challenge. He'll know this himself, it's just surprising.
  15. Both Bournemouth games and maybe Brighton away aside, I don't see it. We create so many chances.
  16. Trying to be optimistic, Wilson can be quite streaky, as can Isak looking at his record. Hopefully one of them comes out of it soon because it seems that they (including Almiron coming out of his form) have all hit a barren spell at the same time. I'm sure you'd be much more worried if we weren't even creating the chances to miss in the first place though, I know I would. If our shit form this season ends up being a handful of draws and a loss, I'd have taken that at the start of the season. It's often hard to apply context in the moment though, in a weird way I think we'd be in a better position in Fulham or Brentford's position. Howe set a rod for his own back with the first half of the season
  17. We also beat Brentford 5-1 and Villa 4-0 in matches that didn't at all feel like that. Football's weird like that, but we obviously need to work on our finishing. Wilson especially is letting the side down and I say that as someone who loves him. If he was doing as expected there'd be less worry and Gordon would already have 2 assists to his name at Newcastle. Dan Burn should also be put into a summer camp where every single activity is centred around attacking headers.
  18. I can't wrap my head around how anyone watching us create chance after chance, hit the bar twice, miss 2 one-on-ones, all with 10 men, and where finishing is the obvious issue say to themselves "I just don't see where the goals are coming from" Of course you can see where they're coming from, you just aren't seeing the goals where they should be. Don't get me wrong, our finishing is a problem that needs fixing, but I'd be far more worried if we weren't even creating chances. For me it bodes well for the future, imagine those chances falling to better players. Imagine the chances that fell to Almiron, Burn, ASM, and Wilson falling to the next Mahrez, Terry, Neymar, and Aguero. Probably an exaggeration but you get the point - that the outcome of matches like that change.
  19. Wan Bissaka is not the player you want ASM up against until late on imo. I'd be bringing back Willock and letting him and Joelinton interplay on the left.
  20. That attempted finish pissed me off so much Absolutely shit and he took it like he's in great form and everything's going in for him, when the reality is that he's in awful form and needed to play it with so much more conviction. I'm dangerously close to reigniting the 'too casual' Perez debate. But it was.
  21. Think I've got 9 points and am fairly happy with that. Weird day of results
  22. I absolute hate that Spurs are right near us despite being relentlessly dog shit
