Id say there was significantly less pressure here than at Man United however they will be paying astronomical wages for him to play in fewer games. It’s a no brainer for him really isn’t it?

I literally don’t know what else to say bud. We’ve lost targets we’ve tracked for months, years in the case of Trafford, all to clubs in the traditional “big 6” bracket. We seem to have an extremely narrow scope for ready made, plug in and play, type players of which it doesn’t look likely we’ll deviate. Two things need to drastically change - we either need to start offering wages on par with the big 6 - which we can’t do. Or we start broadening our horizons and start unearthing some diamonds in the rough/turds that need a good polish - we Eddie doesn’t seem to want to do. Nothing changes if nothing changes.
-
Opinions vary but I’m choosing the writing on the wall rather than blind optimism. The Big 6 are hoovering up players like it’s nobody’s business and we are being left with the scraps. Not even the scraps, the scraps of the scraps.
-
Man Uniteds entire pitch - “whatever Newcastle are offering you, we’ll throw another 30-40k a week on top of it, welcome to Salford, ignore the green and gold scarves - we’ll soon have those oiks out. . . .”
-
We don’t get a single one in is my negative prediction.
-
The other side to that is even if we get someone like Sesko in? Is he the answer for a CL campaign. Probably not. He doesn’t look anywhere near the finished article and there’s still a few question marks over wether he’ll even suit the prem.
-
Worth noting that all this Sesko talk, the majority is coming from Liverpools mouthpiece Romano. A lot of smoke and mirrors at play here I think. Wouldn’t suprise me if we were only in for Wissa atm. We don’t seem capable of managing multiple deals.

If Isak is annoyed at us not strengthening then this could be a move to placate him and assuage him that we have the ambition we did a few seasons ago. More than likely though it’s just a replacement. Even more likely though is Man United, who can offer him first team football and more money, shit themselves that they haven’t bought a striker yet and swoop in last minute.

Seriously I’m gunna stay off social media and any other news regarding the club for a week. Im getting angry on a decent Saturday when I should really be spending some time with my daughter and having a laugh. Bet when I come back next week fuck all will have happened like.
-
Me neither. Something a bit slippery about him. Reminded me of Llambias or whatever he was called. The sort of person to wear a shirt and try and be one of the fans and then behind closed doors advocate for massive ticket price increases and a move towards getting more day trippers in who’ll spend money in the new megastore.
-
I’ve got a feeling that’s what we’ve had happen to us all window.
-
I think he’s signing for a team with European football and the manager that made that happen.
-
Im painting in fairly broad strokes here but I can’t help but think, in the prem at least, he is either gunna be another Isak or Timo Werner.
-
Give it up now. Every transfer we just look like more and more of a shjt show

I think they still have manoeuvring to do in the PSR market. They’ve got Rashford off the wage bill for now but they were hoping for a sale and to bank some pure profit.

It’s a fickle fickle business. He’s never been the most passionate of players, difficult to warm to - not exactly a blood and guts type of bloke like Bruno or BDB. He’s come, he’s been brilliant but he clearly saw us as a platform to bigger things - let’s just match his energy, get as much money as we can for him (which should be astronomical) and move on. We’re bigger than any one player and this deal could unlock the PSR conundrum for a good couple of windows.
-
We’re forgetting that Isak wasn’t exactly prolific at Sociedad. . . .
-
Not great but bigger picture - we get someone like Sesko, a world class center half and a midfielder and we go into the season a lot deeper than we have been for a while. Isak is brilliant but he’s also streaky and went missing for the last month and a half of last season - there is other players out there.
-
Personally I’d much rather us pay the £60m for sesko and bed him in for when we inevitably lose Isak next summer. Im not saying wissa isn’t worth the outlay of £30m+ I just think Sesko has more longevity and a higher ceiling with the right coaching.

I can’t claim the credit for that last comment. It was all the fantastic writers of peep show. It’s always stuck with me and always made me laugh when I’ve thought about it.

We all knew what the PSR rules were brought in to do. I just didn’t think the clubs that benefit from the disparity wouldn’t be so blatant in rubbing everyone else’s nose in it. Unless they realise of course that these rules will at some point face a robust legal challenge and now is the time to get as much distance as they can. . . . .
