Boo that that! Quite enjoyed the thought of happy landsbumpa and trawlerman types sticking it up the big cities. -
Well fixtures have fallen well for them tbf; in that they have played the 19th, 18th, 17th, 16th, 13th and 3rd placed teams. But given we’ve only beaten the 20th placed team and we’re currently sitting 15th, I wouldn’t be exactly brimming with confidence either 😂

Well no surprise to say our red and white ‘cousins’ have had a much better start than most of us (and them no doubt) predicted. But as you can see below, with 11 points at end of September (other data aligned to points per game [ppg] for same number of games per month as this season) they are ahead of their best ever season, and way above both their average PL return and the PL average ppg for 18th place. They’ve a tough November and December so it’ll be interesting to see how things look at the half way point. Anything north of 22 pts and they’ll be absolutely fine.

Imagine somebody re-joining the forum after a couple of years away reading this 😂
-
He has the shirt (or vest as someone keeps calling it 😂) and will keep it given his form (in general) dips. Take your point re winner, but he was very forcibly (cleverly/sneakily) blocked by Saliba when coming for the ball.

What about that Swedish club (mjällby) small fishing village with a population <1,500 running away with their league. Surely that is a nice story. -
Two different teams now. They’re much better. Not sure we are (yet).

Yep, nasty surgical scar running down the outside of his leg/knee.

What’s our contemporary equivalent of a hat trick of Rob Lee headers? Coz that my friends, is what occurred a measly 30miles away (and a million years ago…) from Wednesday’s Anderlecht venue. And that is what I want! -

They’ve not lost since Belgian Super Cup semi final defeat to Club Brugge (1-2) on 20th July. Two draws and eight wins since. Scored 22, conceded 5. Our last ten competitive games (to May 19th) reads less well… . 4 losses, 3 draws, 3 wins. Scored 9, conceded 11. -
So on the basis of today, Dan Burn and Joelinton are finished as players? Plus Murphy doesn’t deserve to be starting. Wow.
-
Must try harder. (Yes you).
-
Like who actually do you think is finished as a player?
-
Didn’t deserve to be on losing side. Clever block on him from Saliba for Gabriel’s goal.

With The Juice & Tino joining in attacks, not that defensive tbf. -

Loved Venison and Bracewell. Couple of originally Sunderland stalwarts who ended up loved by both fan bases. Doesn’t happen very often; Lee Clark going other way was fantastic for them, player of the season I think, but whole thing was somewhat tainted by the ending! -

I like the sound of it, but is this really the game to try something brand new? -
Surprised to hear that about Berlin, thought it was hipster central. Visited Saarland (Homburg and Waldemohr) for first time this summer and it was a complete fashion vacuum. Made Manchester (quite a dress down city) seem like a centre of high fashion.

From memory (so apols if skewed) but started as a right back, sometimes played CB and ended up in midfield. Just checked. Sounds about right: https://www.sporting-heroes.net/football/newcastle-united/barry-venison-5151/biography-of-his-newcastle-career_a12360/ -

September 2025 (Lost 0-8): “My phone is full of messages from God saying we were the better team and that Jason Tindall is in league with Lucifer.”
