This is a good book: ” How We Know What Isn't So Summary Thomas Gilovich offers a wise and readable guide to the fallacy of the obvious in everyday life. When can we trust what we believe—that "teams and players have winning streaks," that "flattery works," or that "the more people who agree, the more likely they are to be right"—and when are such beliefs suspect? Thomas Gilovich offers a guide to the fallacy of the obvious in everyday life. Illustrating his points with examples, and supporting them with the latest research findings, he documents the cognitive, social, and motivational processes that distort our thoughts, beliefs, judgments and decisions. In a rapidly changing world, the biases and stereotypes that help us process an overload of complex information inevitably distort what we would like to believe is reality. Awareness of our propensity to make these systematic errors, Gilovich argues, is the first step to more effective analysis and action.”

Possibly because most of it is usually in our own minds.

Joelinton has regularly had ‘off’ periods. Bruno hasn’t looked at his best this season, for Brazil also. Chance for Eddie to practice what he preaches re everyone having a chance. Imagine the meltdown if he starts Tonali and Longstaff… imagine if they forge a magnificent partnership!

So much subjectivity with a 'quality' comparison. I wonder if any one has done it on cost though? 20 players/usual first team squad. Doubt we'd be bottom half, but certainly wouldn't be anywhere near the top.

Amidst all the noise, dissatisfaction and speculation, I thought it might be timely to look at Eddie's record with us split in different ways. In terms of calendar years, that remarkable end to 2021-22 season and first half of 2022-23 is most impressive with an average points per game (PPG) of 2.00. Which has only been (slightly) bettered once in an actual season (you guessed it, that one, 1995-96) which was 2.05 PPG. As you can see, despite the team clearly not playing as well as we know they can, we are matching that 2.00 PPG at the moment. His best season to date is 2022-23 with 1.87 PPG; which is our joint second best return ever (alongside Robson's 4th place in 2001-02). Even his worst season to date (1.58 PPG) is our 8th best in 31 seasons in PL. For comparison, Keegan bettered this four times (out of five), Robson twice (out of 4), and Pardew once (out of five). And Howe, twice (out of three... obvs!).

Sandro and Longstaff on yesterday’s showing.

Saves me watching 👍

Lose the next game and we’re bang on points wise for sixth. And we haven’t really clicked yet.

60% possession for us, four yellows for them and … and… nope. That’s it. Only positive stats I can find .

Thanks, man. But that’s what I have been doing and it just gives and sticks on club sponsors page 🤷♂️ Seems everything is shit and ‘we’re losers baby, so why don’t you kill us?’

Is this not meant to be on radio via website? On a roof and just nearly toppled off seeing the score!

Still time for other results… .

Willock has linked really well with Isak in the past. Might be just what Alex needs. -
He’s an individual like. Clothes, car, hair, telling others’ how it is/should be, I find it quite refreshing.

I kind of admire it to be honest, gives him (them all) the incentive to make the shirt their own. Never been into having to play him because he’s an Italian/Any international and played well for them recently. Also not a recipe for a fully motivated and happy squad. -

Like the line-up, midfield inc Willock looks exciting and we get to see how Gordon and Barnes can complement Isak now all a bit fitter. Not surprised he’s taken out the more attacking fullbacks given the above. -
On your logic, Miguel Muñoz was clearly an inadequate manager and obviously didn’t have, or demand from his teams, the winning mentality you seem to see as the main ingredient for a football manager and for a fan base. In the 223 games Muñoz managed teams other than Real Madrid or Spain, his gross average win rate was 27%. What a loser. In fact given that covered four teams (24% to 42% before and after his longest stint with Madrid), what a serial loser. This Howe chancer picked up an almost certainly relegated team (11 points from 19 games) and with large portions of the same squad has a 50% win rate. Muñoz Must have fluked those nine La Liga wins and two European cups, when Madrid manager. Unless of course there’s a flaw in your ‘logic’?

Feel your pain, brother. We should get wristbands made: WWED? (What Would Eddie Do?… I mean apart from win fuck all, apparently 😂).
-
I meant with your ‘ideas’ you must try and think harder. C- for attempt at baiting.
-
You need to try harder than that.

Just looked it up. How awesome (not that I’d personally want one) being able to afford to bring something like that into the UK. He’s a one-off mind, first the clothes now the computer game regen car!

Based on what exactly?

The only thing in all of this there is, imo, demonstrable evidence of is the drama-mongering, reprehensible, way a couple of local reporters go about their business. Sincerely hope they burn their bridges with the club.
