The worst Newcastle player you've seen in a match
Coffee_Johnny replied to gjohnson's topic in Football
Maybe a tad harsh with worst, but I recall extreme cringing and hiding my face on more than one occasion witnessing the joys of Des Hamilton in the past. In terms of a particular game, for some (probably alcohol related) reason I had massively talked-up Billy Askew before the disastrous 0-2 promotion play-off defeat to Sunderland in 1990. It seemed to me, amongst the general despair, that everything he touched turned to shite. -
And that shag pile carpet didn’t shag… .

Led to the need for extensive surgery post-Baywatch for Pamela Anderson.

Loved that. If you ever want to impress upon current players the legacy they can leave through victory then get them to listen to this. Such detail and understanding of the context and personalities involved. Fantastic listen.

Would you like some recommendations for pubs where such sporting apparel would be appreciated? (😉 hope you have a great time). -
‘The "Samba Gold" (Samba d'Or) is a footballaward given to the best Brazilian footballer in Europe, as awarded by Sambafoot. The inaugural award was made in 2008. The Samba Gold is determined by three voter panels: journalists, fellow footballers and votes from Sambafoot's online readers.’ Where can we can subscriptions @PauloGeordio?

Ha! Hadn’t noticed or remembered that!

He was pure class.

Tino’s (snr!) house parties were legendary as well. Still managed, occasional incident aside, to take care of the day job.

I hope he has the cojones to stick to his preferences (whatever they may be). Grealish has suffered from being slotted into a wide left role and from the style/philosophy at Man City. I think both him and Foden are best placed in that roving role between a striker and midfield. It’s a big call not to play cards like Foden and Bellingham, when you’ve been dealt them, but hope he plays the latter deeper and alternates Grealish with Foden. Whoever plays there needs to stop bunching up/gravitating to the left. Just gets in the way of the real talent 😉

Great win for Miggy’s underdogs this morning. 1-0 against Brazil. 71% possession to Bruno’s boys, but to not much effect (9 shots vs 7 shots). Bruno subbed at half time for Joao Pedro; hopefully just tactical switch. Didn’t see match but Miggy rated 6.8 (played 86 minutes) and Bruno 6.5. https://www.sofascore.com/football/match/paraguay-brazil/YUbsOVb#tab:lineups

First senior goal at Wembley would be nice! Searched for a ‘nice’ gif but he might even chuck a trick in before so this seems better…

How can a message that ‘they will have time to work on the January window together’ be an exclusive?

Can’t help but imagine you typing that with a worried furrowed brow.

And.. 🎵 You thinks it all of the day 🎵 (repeat ad nauseam).

Nice humorous homage (it’s what we do now…) to revolving dance floor Tuxedo Princess/Royale, maybe make the stadium ship shaped? (‘D’ intended).

Fallen down a rabbit hole on YouTube searching for old matches and came across this, which has some nice Mirandinha and Jacky Milburn footage. Makes me smile comparing the Brazilian love-in then and now.

Here’s a shorter one which gives a sense of Revie’s Leeds (including ‘robust’ Geordie centre back pairing of Hunter and Charlton) including a famous brawl vs Derby. The teams had ‘history’ during Clough’s earlier reign as Derby manager.

If you’ve a spare 18 minutes for some eye opening ‘tackles’ (and eye closing punches).
