The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League
Coffee_Johnny replied to Rich's topic in Football
I just based it on last season’s position. -
I understand it though. Let’s face it a victory there would be remarkable if full strength. We are down to the bare bones and it would be miraculous to turn them over with the squad we can put out. That said, thought we’d lose against Chelsea (for the same reason) and we battered them. So adopting my usual hoping for the best, preparing for the worst kind of approach to tonight.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League

Given the talk re Villa and Man Utd, I talk it might be interesting to look at the points accrued taking account of the relative difficulty of fixtures to date. We are sitting in 7th, but taking this fixture difficulty into account (assumptions are in my NUFC tracking monthly updates) the points we’ve accumulated are in line in a fourth place finish (Ave PL season). I haven’t taken the relative difficulty of their fixtures into account, but Villa, in 4th have accrued a points total (28) which would normally be what you’d expect of a second placed team. Man Utd, in 6th, have a points total (24) between 3rd and fourth place finish. However, using the four tiers (from NUFC prediction) to reflect the quality of opposite, shows that they have both had easier starts than us. We’ve played more Tier 1 teams and fewer Tier 4 teams than either. -
Top drawer. Badaishaile (Another one we missed out on) is no mug and James is as good as it gets full back wise, yet he got the better of both.

Interesting take. I always thought CDM was the place box to box midfielders and wingers went to die.

Update on tracker towards a top six finish, taking account of the relative difficulty of games as they fall across the season. 23 points, at the end of November, puts us bang on track for a fourth place finish for the average PL season (assumptions in hidden content quoted). 6th would be 21 points. 5th would be 22 points to date. Third 25, second 27 and first 30. So at present Arsenal are bang on the points tally for the average PL Champions, at this stage. -
RIP. ?GARY! Speed! He scores them with his heed. Gary Speed. Gary Speed!?

Gordon 0 (senior caps). Gallagher 11 Sterling 82. Now that is a wind-up
-
At least you’re obviously (…and not unfunnily) on the wind-up now. I was fearing for your sanity.

The Uber slick. From slick city. Which, in case you don’t know, is full of super slick mofos. (I may have significantly to my alcohol intake after getting home and watching the whole match again).

Another stunning performance today. Solid as a rock.

As soon as he laid hands on him, he was gone.

Your own football ability - how good are/were you?

Too true! I’m old enough to have ‘enjoyed’ the feel of a wet caser slapping against cold thighs and thudding against forehead, in junior school. Strips were teabag style nylon on a pitch at pretty much top the highest point in Gateshead. Madness really. -
Might be just a punt on our ‘Mounties’ reputation/aspiration.
