Newcastle United vs. Brentford: 16/09/23 @ 17:30 (Sky Sports)
Coffee_Johnny replied to HaydnNUFC's topic in Football
We played very well against Villa. We had a very decent preseason. I’ll gloss over the rest, but basically there’s not too much wrong with us. -
Damn and blast you and your optimism-killing facts ?
-
Coming off confidence boosting international games, where pretty much everything came off for him, I think he’ll feel like a wolf amongst sheep.

Frustrating, but it’s not worth the jail time, mate.

Wading through such shite as we speak…

Would have felt a real sense of loss (ala Andy Cole levels, if not more) but we might have had Szoboszlai (forever “It’s-a-boss-lie,” said in Scouse accent in my head) plus one or two more first teamers if it had happened ?♂️

Stop twisting @aussiemag melones man, he isn’t killing the balsamic-buzz, you’re just mangling the mortadella!

Just had six goes at donating, now locked out. Might be my error(s) not site. Will try again later. -
Shows how things have changed (for the worse), I remember my grandparents (avid Newcastle fans) making all the grandkids, and younger uncles/aunties, ice cream sundaes (a big deal treat wise in the 1970s) and getting bottles in from the ‘pop man’ to watch the cup final and cheer on the North East underdogs. A happy childhood memory.

Christ! Was that made by a Liverpool fan?

Our best form was the second part of the season before. So on this view, we’ve ‘overachieved’ for a season and a half and now (in three of our first four games, two away, against top sides, with an unarguably improved squad) have now found our real level. Your theory smells a bit whiffy to me.

Quite frankly, it is fucking mental to make a comparison or to give a shit if anyone else does.

No big deal, Rod. Just saw a Turkish dancer, yesterday on holiday, who looked like Bruno. Made me chuckle and then laugh out loud when for the second dance he came out wearing a ‘magic hat’/tea cosy. I was close to launching into song before me a knowing (and stern!) look from ‘the boss’ stopped me in my tracks.

I thought it was a fantastic watch. Not sure what other people’s expectations were, but I watched in hope of something positive and informative (personalities behind the running of the club) and big ticks for both. Also, there was a bit of double take re ‘is this really us, are we that interesting?’. Another big tick.

I’m out of touch with what’s happening with Bruno’s contract negotiations, but I hope it is sorted soon. I’ve discovered what is contributing to his drop-off in form…

Well bet that performance increased the confidence of the rest of the ‘group of F’. -
Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1 Newcastle United (02/09/23)

Like this solution. Anderson may provide what we’re lacking without Joe W. -

Not sure what is going with the middle three. Short of time, short of ideas, and lacking in any kind of purposeful forward play. Hope they work it out and sharpish. -
About to watch it, but had same thoughts when saw it for the first time in a while last weekend. They really need to take better care of such an iconic structure. Given Newcastle is the ‘regional capital’ of the North East, perhaps our relatives from the other rivers might want to chip in?
