  1. I’d actually take a defeat, well maybe I’d take a draw, if it meant we beat City in the cup.
  2. Win the next two and we are ahead of the average points total needed for a sixth place finish. To be fair even a draw and a win and we are not far off that.
  3. Hope so. He’s developing into a real mainstay of the team. I’ve got the heebie jeebies about this game, half-fancied Everton to win yesterday and Sheffield Utd to similarly upset the odds today. So if he does score hope it is early and settles my (uncharacteristic) nerves
  4. That is my thinking too. He needs to be 20 yards further forward, than he typically is. Needs Tonali dropping back (probs not a great solution) or the two of them alternating better than they are currently.
  5. Depends where you’re coming from, but Heworth Metro if from South (and you’re early enough). Take change.
  6. More seriously we could have had two Szoboszlai’s (would have been a great fit for us imo) for that plus the additional expenditure £100m gives you FFP wise. (Just checked Liverpool seemingly got him for ’only’ £52m).
  7. I don’t know much about contracts, but guessing release clauses are probably pretty standard for players who are potentially still on the rise.
  8. Sometimes things we don’t appreciate aren’t valued until they are absent. Little Joe=NUFC’s electricity supply.
  9. Up turn in form incoming? not suggesting he’s been playing within himself, just this kind of commitment can lead to increased engagement (best word I could think of).
  10. Having similar vibes, couldn’t bring myself to predict a loss or draw, but keep thinking (god knows why) of the Sheff Wed and Tranmere cup games last season. Think it is going to be a battle; hope we’re up for it.
  11. I think you have captured the feelings of many, Chris. You certainly have mine.
  12. Did somebody say something? Feel I need to purchase a tin of unblocking Jam; on the same aisle as Swarfega in B&Q.
  13. Gameweek 6 Palace 2-2 Fulham Luton 2-1 Wolves Man City 3-1 Forest Brentford 1-0 Everton Burnley 1-2 Man United Arsenal 2-2 Spurs Brighton 1-0 Bournemouth Chelsea 2-2 Villa Liverpool 2-1 West Ham Sheff United 0-1 Newcastle
  14. Save you hitting the link. Ted and George Robledo. Ted (1928-1970), NUFC 1949-1953 p37 0 goals, left-sided wing back; and George (1926-1989) same 4 years, p146 82 goals, striker.
  15. It’s pretty easy to just skip over messages to be fair. No need to get rattled/rise to it.
  16. Well… to be fair all those steamy evenings in Two Ball (six ball?) Lonnen Social Club’s sex dungeon probably blurred into one through the mists of time, Super Goalie.
  17. For what it is worth, I imagined, and would still like to see them, playing as if they were joined by a long rubber band (best metaphor I can think of). Never more than 20 yards between them, sometimes one in advance of the other, sometimes both forward or both back. At all times offering an option for each other and one always free to receive from defence, or backwards from a forward.
  18. We were good against Forest—very one sided game and could have been a much higher score line.
  19. 25 shots to 6; 9 on target to 1. Come on, man. We were beaten 3-1 by Brighton and the shots totals were 15 to 9 (6 to 2 on target). Great CL result for us but we definitely had the rub of the green.
  20. Good stuff! Hope you have a great time visiting Newcastle. If fans are respectful they will have a very warm welcome.
