We don’t have to agonise over it. There’s no doubting that they are both top keepers/have appeared for their country. Ramsdale at all levels. Howe will have the best insight, no doubt guided by his goalkeeping coaches at Bournemouth and here. Personally, I think it would be a good time to get Ramsdale (if he is wanted) and given the age difference and room for further improvement, if affordable, he would be a good shout to offer genuine first team competition to Pope and maybe ultimately replace him. When that would occur would depend on what they saw in training and opportunities given.

Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)

There’s an Irish bar, where the local NUFC fans congregate. I’ll see if I can find the name. It’s here: https://www.the-globe.dk -
Your own football ability - how good are/were you?

Pretty much the same. But with better turning circle ? Always fancied myself as a tricky winger but really should have listened and learned how to play centre back properly. Highlight probably playing against Gazza as kids; taught him everything he knows (…about coping with life). -

Nope. Would be very surprised (pleasantly) to see Miggy and Isak. -
I remember thinking the same about Sandro T. Decent preseason. Fabulous first game. Then he, performances and non-verbals in general, looked a bit off. Here’s hoping Tripps isn’t living with ongoing ‘stressors’/something ominous hanging over him.

I don’t know why it somehow feels worse than scumbags turning over anyone else’s home; perhaps because the players, to me, represent or city/region and should be treated with respect? But it does feel worse and makes me want to go into full vigilante, torch lit, pitchfork wielding, hounding-out mode!
-
If his house was burgled, particularly close in time to ‘fan-gate’, I hope it hasn’t affected his view of us/region/fans. Awful experience to have.

Still talking about Peacock?
-
Is that a young Lemmy?
-
If we’re talking personal favourites, then I’d need to tweak the formation to: Given Albert Schar Woodgate Solano Bruno Lee Ginola Beardsley Shearer Cole (maybe Isak for positional reasons)

Ouf! Would be a fantastic game between those two sides!

Good share! Needs more appreciation.

Thought it might be interesting to look at our record under Eddie. Across seasons and years (not many of either obvs!) Best performance is when sliced for 2022 as a calendar year. 36 games 58% win record, and 2.0 points per game (ppg)— good enough for second in eight (of the 31 Prem seasons) and good enough for third on 23 occasions. I think the ‘since January 2022’ gives the fairest picture of his reign to date. Half a dozen games to bed in, one transfer window and since then a 54% win rate and 1.87 ppg over 69 games. This ppg was equalled for last season (and in 2001-02) and has only been bettered by us in one whole season: 1995-96, 2.05ppg.

May be making this up… but didn’t Mark McGhee once do something similar?
-
Well that is a thing of timeless beauty. Only ever done it on an empty pitch practicing with the young un. Still feels good!

At least we’d have a shout of winning the Europa League. Would seem fitting as a Fairs Cup follow-up and as one of the emerging teams in Europe. -
Great experience for the lad last night. Hope he gets a hunger for the big occasion. Can be very motivating and wring that extra ‘stardust’ potential out of him.
-
Looks gutted. Hope he gains a bit of balance in his thinking today. Disappointing to lose but I thought he/they put together a sound tactical plan to use what we had to best effect. No bad thing to illustrate the need for for a deep squad including another purple or two.

Three MoM performances against three top sides. What a player.
-
They just sold a really, really promising young striker. Don’t know what else they’ve got tucked away, but Cole Palmer is going to be a world class striker. Would have loved us to sign him. £40m would have probably seems a lot/been too big a stretch FFP wise, but he’d be starting for us now.

Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Newcastle United (07/11/23)
Coffee_Johnny replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
Watched the match (on phone in Italy) and just scrolling through to catch up on people’s views on here. I felt really proud of the team; not least given our limited selection choices. ‘Hang your heads in fucking shame’? Fuck me. Have you forgotten that we will lose football matches too? They put in a stellar effort second half, in particular, against a very good side in a loud hostile stadium. We were right in the game throughout. Largely controlled their superior fire power, 54% possession, 10 shots 5 on target. We lost. Deservedly so. But there is no shame in that performance or result. I’d understand (ish…) if you were talking about the mauling of ten man Celtic. -

From what I have seen in the past, seems like a lot of Arsenal fans still have a soft spot for Joe.
