  1. Rags saying we want Poch if Howe leaves for England job. The story is going to keep going all summer. I think he goes in the end.
  2. I wouldn't be giving him the no.9 shirt, especially if we're bringing in another forward. Just a number blah blah, except it's not.. there's a responsibility that goes with that shirt and he's just unreliable. Great goalscorer and overall player IF he's available, but he rarely is.
  3. If Man Utd bloggers on twitter keep wanting to talk about the fee I'm guessing it's down to buyer's remorse. We probably came off the better of the changes, time will tell.
  4. His career is ruined already. He's now just topping up his pension. He won't be passing a medical anywhere else.
  5. You're talking about a player who's spent about as much of his professional career in rehab as he has on the pitch. This shit doesn't faze him. He's got a bona fide contract after all. They have to pay him.. sore tit? "Sick pay!" - bit of a back strain? "Sick pay!" Don't forget the obligatory Insta post to say how devastated he is and that he'll be back soon. Callum Wilson is as much of a problem as his injuries are. Now wait and see, he'll be back when the window closes and then he'll pick up something new when the January one is about to open. He's just running down the contract which may have an automatic year extension clause. That'll bring him up to 34 going on 35... just in time for retirement and then a lucrative tv pundit career with that lovely smile. Or am I being cynical?
  6. A City ITK having the first idea what Eddie Howe wants? Pure bullshit. Not that he's a bad player.. is he not a left winger/forward?
  7. If you've ever worked in a senior position in a company and then had someone new come in who is working over you, it is just unsettling and the natural response is to feel negative about your own position and to those above you. Now it may not be as extreme as that for Eddie but there's definitely a pissing contest brewing.. I think he won that pissing contest with Ashworth which is why the rat wanted out so soon. Mitchell won't be pushed around either politically, mentally or physically so having an option of moving to a less demanding job with nobody above him would be quite the lure.
  8. He's playing a good game of poker there. I suspect he doesn't like having a Sporting Director over him, and that goes for when Ashworth was here too. If Mitchell proves to be good at this summers recruitment then I don't think there will be a problem. But he's given himself an out there. If the FA don't rush an appointment there could well be a situation where he gives them an indication he'll talk to them towards end of August.
  9. “Transfer rumours? I haven’t seen him in years”
  10. Depends on how desperate they are for cash. They’ll need to start paying for that stadium soon enough. They wouldn’t be sniffing around if there wasn’t an opportunity there.
  11. It will be her investors who want to have a slice of whatever club so it could well be Spurs. For 500m you might get 30% if it. Levy doesn’t do giveaways.. that’s one thing I’ll give him props for.
  12. He’s more than capable of being a solid backup for Hall and Kelly if he’s fit. Instrumental in probably my favourite goal of the last 20 years (Bruno v Leicester). Rather keep him than let him go for pittance. Seems a good guy to have around the squad too.

    St James' Park

It just makes sense.. they can build one of the best stadiums in the world on new land for about the same cost as a limited upgrade at SJP would. A new stadium can be built with zero impact on ongoing fixtures, that has to be factored in too. Sharing a stadium would mean a loss of that revenue which would have the knock on effect to PSR. It’s also about legacy. They’ll want to leave something great that reflects on the Kingdom. Also the Reuben’s didn’t get involved just to turn up to a few games.. land development is their thing so if SJP were to be eventually knocked down.. they would have first option as bringing something totally new to that area.
  14. Negative triggering comments or stories get more clicks, truth will always be secondary when it comes to some of that lot. Howe already knows Mitchell and if he did knock us back to begin with I'd say it was over small details in the job spec. He wanted some binding assurances over the level of control he wanted in the job and he's got them now. It's just negotiating.. and probably a good sign that he's going to fight our corner in a more than capable way.
  15. You assume he still has a wife
  16. Venables has been the best coach England have had in terms of the quality of football. They were adventurous and just went for it despite there being a couple of teams who were better. He knew exactly how to get the best from the players available. That England team had talent for sure but probably not as solid defensively. Such a lack of bravery too. I think that's the main ingredient you need being in that job as tactics are only going to do so much with the limited time they have with the players.
  17. That says more about Brighton fans. Potter is a good coach and has tactical style that is effective. Totally comfortable passing out from the back and patient. The only thing is him not being a particularly well known name.. is he going to command the respect of certain young players with egos etc. Him being out of the game a while now won't do him any favours. It'll be Howe they go for imho.. but not yet. Which is why I think someone like Carsley will get the job in a "caretaker role"
  18. Yes he is. Don't let a poorly chosen move to a poisonous football club distract you from that. Brighton were a nightmare to play against while he was there.
  19. Bowen got the same treatment. Some outrageously poor use of the squad available by a fraud of a manager.
  20. That 85 million Spurs got for Kane suddenly looking very good business
  21. Him and a fully fit/injury free Botman gives me Rio/Vidic vibes. Young enough to have many seasons of an understanding built up.
  22. They'll always be in our shadow. And we'll always be there to remind them of what they'll never have.
  23. "How's the performance bacon did you say?"
  24. The emotional component to it is such a double sided coin though. When she posted on insta after they'd been in Monaco at the F1 I really thought that was a bad move, not being in Monaco but trying to justify it by saying they were meeting with potential sponsors. That part made no sense as we have Livingstone in for that purpose now. It just didn't need to be said and looked a bit amateur trying to set the record straight to whatever numpties had criticised her, maybe that was same time as the humping we got in 2nd game in Australia. But my point, in making statements they also represent PIF and the Reubens and I just can't see how that would have gone down well behind the scenes.
