I didn’t see the friendly but it was against Hull.. how much can be learnt? Whilst he certainly is a talent, I think we need him more at LB than anywhere else. Also seen the comments about Jamal Lewis, he’s done this numerous times.. looks ok in pre season and then just drops off the radar. Maybe he has turned a corner but his umpteen loan spells don’t really paint that picture.

It’s a bit fucked up that the club would have to have clear the air talks with people who have literally just joined. Love Eddie despite lasting concerns over his consistency, but he does seem a bit diva-ish about his own position. Like just get on with it man.. he’s the only one causing any negativity in terms of conversations about the club right now. All roads lead back to him.

No I think they expected someone to trigger Bruno’s release fee. Hence the cut off date. Big Joe is harder to replace in some respects due to him being an absolute beast of a man. Bruno can only run the show when those other ingredients are beside him.

"as long as I'm happy and supported I don't see why not" I'm guessing the club did a review of the season and one of the decisions made was that a performance director should be brought in because the existing setup wasn't up to scratch. EH taken it on as a rap on the knuckles perhaps. I can't imagine they were happy with the response to his interviews either as it's done nothing to make things settled in the camp. It's a long way off the Rafa quotes before he left but it ain't nothing either.

I'm just not convinced EH wants to work under a DoF. He has to if he stays but then he does have this other potential amazing opportunity if he chooses not to.. one where he wouldn't have to work under anyone. That's the crux of it. Total freedom or stay and try and manoeuvre several layers of executive dick swinging to try and achieve your goals.

The fact he won't have a pre season is the most worrying in relation to season ahead.

It's harder for a DoF to come in and make an impact when there's already a sitting manager there who they didn't choose. Does he have an input on tactics? Style of play etc? Or is he just a glorified scout or head of recruitment? Not saying it's impossible but EH won't be willing to let go of everything he currently has control over. He needs to meet them halfway for it to work.

Why thank you 😂 Based on, he wants the job, maybe not right now but it's an opportunity that may not present itself again. He's smart and I'm sure he's considered this. He's talked about a difficult summer.. aside from the PSR nonsense and the recent departures of Amanda and Mehrdad, why else would it have been difficult? Again.. things going on behind the scenes that we're not privy to. Or there's more to both those situations than we realise. Either way it's just a nagging feeling that all isn't well. I think PIF rate him but he doesn't have that same relationship that he had with Staveley and the recent additions of Mitchell and Bunce just add more layers to get through to have any direct access. So yeah, between all that and the speculation in the papers, I think he's a bit unsettled and I don't think his quotes from those interviews are the last of it.

You're talking about a player who's spent about as much of his professional career in rehab as he has on the pitch. This shit doesn't faze him. He's got a bona fide contract after all. If you've ever worked in a senior position in a company and then had someone new come in who is working over you, it is just unsettling and the natural response is to feel negative about your own position and to those above you. Now it may not be as extreme as that for Eddie but there's definitely a pissing contest brewing.. I think he won that pissing contest with Ashworth which is why the rat wanted out so soon. Mitchell won't be pushed around either politically, mentally or physically so having an option of moving to a less demanding job with nobody above him would be quite the lure.

He's playing a good game of poker there. I suspect he doesn't like having a Sporting Director over him, and that goes for when Ashworth was here too. If Mitchell proves to be good at this summers recruitment then I don't think there will be a problem. But he's given himself an out there. If the FA don't rush an appointment there could well be a situation where he gives them an indication he'll talk to them towards end of August.
