That land thing is a nice excuse for the club to say “look we woukd like to expand here but this issue is preventing us” before announcing a move elsewhere.

It’s a key position we need to upgrade. Pope’s kicking invites so much pressure back on us. It’s worse almost than the defenders who can’t play it out from the back.

Surely a midfielder has to be on the agenda now too.

it’s not, that’s the point. Can revert to 5 if under pressure. Trippier and Tonali can track back.. Joelinton moves in a bit. Barnes and Gordon can switch around up front but while in possession, Trippier needs to be involved as he was our most creative player last season, despite the loss of form.

He’s literally scored screamers from that position. Joelinton is better out wide, he’s not disciplined enough for CM. Barnes and Gordon could swap around all game. Who else is out of position?

Whilst we need more bodies at the back, the balance in midfield is my biggest concern. Maybe Tonali will sort that.. hard to tell. He’ll certainly add the pace that we’ve been lacking there defensively. Like previously mentioned, we can score goals.. it’s how we’re providing them to the forwards that needs to improve. Midfield is key to controlling games, thus keeping the pressure off the defence while also providing different ways to unlock teams. In my humblest.. both Longstaff and Joelinton need to be removed from those positions alongside Bruno. Big Joe is too good to keep out though.. he needs to be found more of a free role a little bit wider and more forward. He does his best work there. The formation needs a shake up. Willock and Tonali are the obvious replacements and they can play either side but we should be looking at cover there.

When he drops a story about advanced negotiations it usually means it’s mostly done. He’s had a mare all summer when it comes to us. He’s released a story without checking on the other side how far it was along. The answer was not far at all if he’s done his work. It’s about credibility. We fucking hound Romano for that one faux pas on Joao Pedro.. yet Ornstein has had several over the course of 2 months.

Ornstein can get fucked as well, several times this summer he’s been used by other clubs to make our bids public, effectively scuppering anything happening under any sort of cloak of privacy.

That’s a big if though.. we’ve heard this transfer has been close countless times and still nothing happens. I’m not bed wetting over lack of spend to be clear.. being on the wrong side of PSR or close to the limit is a shit place to be. Tonali was our purple last summer and we didn’t really get to see him.. so am wondering if they’re a bit cooler about it and just wanna see exactly where the team will be when we have everyone available (which isn’t far off). The outcome of the City case will also be something they are watching closely.

Bit it’s not nowt.. they said the feasibility study would have been finished ages ago and they’d communicate the findings. You’d have seen some inspecting on the civil engineering side if plans were any further ahead. It would have been all over social media. It doesn’t look anywhere close to that.

Let’s work on the assumption that all isn’t well in the camp. Whats the bigger picture? Whats happening? Are PIF less interested? Has PCP leaving created a void? Forget the negotiating, their presence in match days.. on the pitch and in the tunnel embracing the players and staff.. it bridged that gap between the coaches/management/playing staff and the suits upstairs.. there was a sense of unity and all pulling in the same direction. That being gone isn’t nothing. Given all that, we really needed a statement from those remaining that the plans are still in action. If PSR really is preventing us from spending again, I’d rather they came out and said that.. “we need to hold off for 6-12 months” etc. The lack of news on the stadium is also something lurking in the background. Again, something that could give a lacklustre window some shade.

No he was first asked if he had a choice of a defender or a winger what would be his preference and he refused to answer the question because it was disrespectful of players already here. Then asked did he think it was possible to sign both a defender and a winger and he said “no probably not”
