  1. Because he’s had a couple of serious injuries that have taken way longer than they should have to heal. It happens with some players, they come back and are not the same, don’t have confidence in their body and start missing games over smaller knocks. Not having a pre season last year was a huge thing also for him and if that happens again I would fear the worst. He’s such a good player when he’s had a run of games.. fingers crossed but am not confident he’ll be back like before.
  2. I won’t be surprised to see a light bench at start of season if Willock is still not fit. I really think we could do with bringing in a midfielder, maybe a cheeky bid for Pavlovic at Bayern now it seems they are going to sign Palinha (sp?) from Fulham. He’d be made for the PL.. big lad too, looks around 6ft

Talking shite, it’s nowhere near the drawing up plans stage yet. They haven’t made a final decision on what to do. My understanding is that moving away is a last resort, so that either leaves a mini upgrade (1 stand) OR completely rebuild the whole stadium on the existing site. Option 2 can’t just go ahead, we’d need to be somewhere for up to 2 years which would need to be agreed well before any plans were announced. And that doesn’t even factor in all the planning application issues / Metro etc My own take on it is that it will be option 2 or they’d have made that announcement already. This rebuild will reflect on PIF and ultimately on the KSA, so cost won’t be a factor. That will also be with the accountants, to see how that amount of capital can be injected into the club and how they may be able to use that in some clever accounting methods for our advantage.
  4. I think it’s a nice thing to go back and refer to once in a while to keep us grounded. But we have a club who tries now, so should we just sit back and say “job done guys, that’ll do” Of course not, it’s all about moving forward.. and sometimes we need to leave things behind so we can do it. 2 years ago, Miggy played out of his skin.. last season he reverted back to something similar to before albeit with some amazing moments (PSG, away to Man Utd etc) He’ll always be liked and appreciated here for his efforts for the cause but we are bit by bit improving in every area and should be stay he’s just going to become a bit part player and that shouldn’t be the case for him, he’s only 30.. he’s got loads to give another club should he choose to move. I wouldn’t be surprised if an MLS club comes in for him as it doesn’t seem like Saudi is where he really wants to be, or a mid table La Liga club.
  5. Honestly, who gives a shit at this point. They won’t disclose it and it will just be a point scoring bullshit that’s a massive waste of time. Let them think they got one over on us.. let us think we had them over a barrel. Most important thing is that rat isn’t associated with us anymore. Time to move on.
  6. The smoggies were having a great season too up to that point. Was that the Juninho effect? I can’t remember who came first, between him and Ravanelli
  7. The thing our midfield lacks the most if real pace, we have it up top and our full backs are ok.. but midfield we will always struggle when chasing back, and equally struggle to break lines and carry the ball at pace towards a defence. When you have the likes of Gordon, Isak or Barnes looking to run onto a through pass while someone like Gibbs-White runs at pace directly at defenders, that presents a whole different scenario than what we currently have. The front three could essentially change positions throughout a game which would be a nightmare for opposing teams. (Potential first team when all fit.. or signed) Gordon Isak Gibbs-White Big Joe - Bruno - Tonali Hall Botman Silva Livramento Pope
  8. That depends entirely on what the figure is/was that we needed to bring in to meet PSR requirements. The first number mentioned was 25m, then Swiss Ramble mentioned 40m We’ve now brought in what could surpass 80m and that’s not counting whatever Almiron might leave for, or Wilson.. So now to the transfers.. Minteh was always planned to be sold, and Anderson, judging by the amount he played when available, it’s possible Howe just didn’t want him enough to take that squad place. It looks like we’ll have incomings in midfield so possibly a revamped look to how we’ll be lining up. If anything I would say these moves are measured and all part of the plan. The timing was the only thing that wasn’t ideal.. they’d have wanted that business done sooner but we can’t control when other clubs hit the ok button on a deal, hence having a plan b which is maybe where the Gordon story is coming from.
  9. They’re absolutely irrelevant now. Fuck them and their quid membership. Especially putting out statements like that like it’s on our behalf. Self serving cunts.

    St James' Park

Not a chance, if any significant work was happening in the stadium it would have begun weeks ago.
  11. The moment Grealish apologised to him his form crumbled and he reverted to the player he was before the insult. All a bit weird because he was unstoppable for a time.

Now will they replace with black lettering or go for something shiny? Am assuming that part of the stand would need to be painted anyway.
  13. I think the lack of European football will be the issue, otherwise he looked willing to talk to us if his club has accepted an offer. But.. as it stands, we had gotten in there before he got noticed and were probably a bit further along the road in terms of establishing a relationship with his agent, so who knows.

    John Ruddy

Gonna file this one in with the likes of Daryl Murphy or Leon Best.. a meh signing but who pleasantly surprises when called upon. Welcome Mr. Ruddy.
  15. If it were not for Brexit Jim being at the helm I’d agree with you but he’s talked himself into it now.
  16. Highly doubt the club were expecting to sell him (Bruno), hoping nobody activated his release clause, sure.. but not actively trying to sell or even planning for his absence. He’s also happy as a pig in shit here, he’d have given no club (through his agent) any encouragement to meet that release clause either. PSR also playing a big part because not many can spend.
  17. Doubt this has anything to do with PSR other than Man Utd not wanting to spend before July kicked in. We were in a much worse position a week ago so they could have low balled us again and it might have worked. They’ll have been more desperate as the summer goes on to have someone in place for when the Euros start wrapping up, going to be a very busy market from that point on to not have anyone in place to handle that side of the business. Same goes for us too, we really need to step up the search.
  18. Carsley is very highly rated as a coach/manager
  19. Gordon to come on with 3 mins of stoppage time to go and then he’ll miss a penalty
  20. We were in for that keeper back in 2021 so it’s not a flash in the pan signing, he’s been scouted
  21. I find the talk of Longstaff leaving too more interesting. As much of this is for balancing the books, it also seems that our midfield may be getting a bit of an overhaul in terms of the backup?
  22. Hopefully that ends the PSR conversation and if it doesn’t, there’s something very wrong happening in how the finances have been managed.
