So looks like we have about 60m to spend. Not enough to cover a defender and a right winger. I think maybe Gordon gets sold early this week. 90m or there abouts. Arise Sir Harvey. We then splurge on 3 players. A GK (Trafford), a CB (who knows) and a right winger/forward. Tripps will stay unless he’s part of a deal for a defender. It was obvious yesterday that he’s still very much needed.

Pope’s kicking yesterday will have been something even Howe will reluctantly acknowledge now as a massive problem. Every single kick out gave them possession of the ball. But what’s frustrating is that he’ll probably sign Trafford and leave him on the fucking bench for 3 months.

He’s strong in the tackle and can seem to dispossess people quite well but overall probably 6/10 from him today.. as was the case with most of the team. Way too early to write him off.

Well we were shit for very long spells last season. Lots of excuses why which I’ll reluctantly accept. But so far this season we have played extremely poorly in both games, somehow managing to collect 4 points but that luck won’t last forever if we keep playing like that. Are we far enough away from the days of Steve Bruce to just be able to judge a downward slide? Aside from a few at the back, that was mostly a strong side out there today. We look afraid of the ball, unable to play against teams who press, no plan b seemingly. Don’t even know our best 11. Last summer and this summers windows have been poor. I’ll put an asterisk on Tonali because he can be quality but 80m collectively on Tino and Hall doesn’t look like money well spent right now. We’ve also splashed out 15m on someone who’s sat in the bench for 2 games when it’s been screaming out for a bit of pace and hustle. I’m not screaming for his job but for fuck sake Eddie, time to do better.

We’re much better in the transitions, need to improve the timing and the accuracy of the final ball. Isak is destroying them every time he’s on the ball. Gordon not great so far.

Would also explain why Howe has been fairly cold with him. Dedicated family man etc.. it makes it hard relate to someone who’d freely just throw their family and marriage away.

Could well be wrong but I think this one is dead now. 4 bids if that’s true shows we really want to sign him but every player has a financial point where it doesn’t make any sense. We need a body in but it doesn’t have to be a “purple” Not saying Brighton would sell him but someone like Lewis Dunk would just slot straight in and can pass a bit.. £15m or there abouts and you’ve got cover and experience there for 2 years.

We were really poor yesterday, a promoted team coming here and playing us off the park isn’t a great look. But am choosing at this point to believe that we were instructed to sit back and play counter which were good at. But again.. and I’ve made this point so many times. Why does it always look like we have to work harder than any other team to pick up a win? Man for man we have a better midfield than Southampton but they were literally in our half (before the sending off) with one of their players with his foot on the ball deciding whether to pass left or right.
