  1. Transfers made more sense, as in you could tell what your squad needed and then make that addition. Even if they won't revert to that system.. because they probably won't. Maybe give each the club the opportunity to have 1 wild card transfer in and 1 out. It would certainly make things interesting.
  2. It certainly puts the lack of future development announcements in sharp perspective. I would imagine DE's calendar would be filled up weeks/months in advance before all this so it makes total sense now that things, like for example any stadium plans would be kept on ice for a bit. I hope he's at the club long enough that he'll get to announce whatever may be coming, he deserves to have a place in that history with the club. Also very interesting to see what kind of character the club choose to take up his role.
  3. It brings us together though and that's why we're up there with the best in terms of support. Not sure we'll know what to do if we ever win something mind..
  4. Awful news. He's a very likeable man and maybe too soon to judge the impact of his time here but am sure the foundations will be solid. This club is really going to have to pull together over the next while.
  5. Oh I’d love it to happen just to see those scouse cunts try and justify the flip on their 2+ years of virtue signalling
  6. I think the elephant in the room which few are talking openly about is that there's every possibility that we're the unwanted child in a broken relationship now. There's PIF and The Reubens.. do they communicate at all? At board level, who's leading this? I think maybe the personalities involved are a little too affable or silver spoon for Yassir's liking. Something feels slightly off, like we're in so much better shape than a few years ago so it's fully acceptable but i do wonder just how serious PIF and by extension Saudi are about positioning us for something a bit more. Everything has stalled and it's allowing doubt to creep in. Also something maybe of battered wife syndrome when it comes to the fanbase after the Mike Ashley years.. we're going to need a bit more regular reassurance than we're currently getting, and a few words probably won't cut the mustard this time. We need to see something real and material. Training Ground.. nothing been said about it. Understandable if not a current priority but at least say it's on the back burner for the moment. Stadium - all been said in the other thread. It will take time for it to come together but an update (even to say no update) would be good. Revenue increases - some new significant sponsorship would be great - it's gone a little quiet on the major deals they were talking about. Clear up the situation with SD and Manager.. is there anything to clear up? If not then just say that.
  7. He doesn’t quite have the wand of a foot like Barnes but he can cover more ground and it’s probably fair to say all that running at opponents before Barnes comes on softens them up. But Eddie Howe will be under pressure to start Barnes now.. be interesting to see what he does.

I doubt they were ordering different shades.. just by time they got in the others had probably faded a bit. Log jet does that quick. Ever see the back of a dark couch that’s near a window?

Am working directly in a similar role now so I’m way more relaxed about the timing of it.. as in a snails pace. It’s just the way of it. The feasibility study will be done.. but it won’t be like a thing that goes straight back to Darren Eales and he says.. yes do that one! Doesn’t work like that. They’ll be sending that info on to a QS firm who will do a rough costing of various options. A brief will be made and there’ll be a big meeting with many folk who will trash out the options. Once they choose an option, then it goes back to the architect, the QS firm, Fire Consultant, Access Consultant etc.. it’s an overall design team and they all do costings that goes into a tender document.. then on to PIF who have to approve it.. but like you’re talking 1.5 years for that to all take place. Then once the brief is out is has to be out for tender for construction companies who’ll want it.. and there could be 10-15 of them. That’s a whole other saga of project management to even get it to a stage where there’ll be boots on the ground as it were with winning appointees
  11. Big moment for the premier league / FA this.. if they fluff it, a precedent has been set for everyone else to take the piss. If they go in hard it will be challenged and the legal bills will likely cost close to whatever they'll be fined, so i'd expect the points/league position punishment to be as severe as possible. Transfer ban for 2 years Immediate 30 point deduction (will be reduced to 20 on appeal) £100m fine Appointment of an independent observer to oversee all financial transactions for a period of 2-3 years.
  12. Fully agree.. the windows are essentially hit and hope. You don’t really know what your squad needs until a little into the season, generally after the window has shut. Not sure why they introduced it. It’s certainly not to protect clubs as any player playing for a smaller club knowing a big move is on the horizon won’t be giving it 100% for fear of injury etc. Plus the planning involved to try and arrange incomings and outgoings is generally too much work load for even clubs our size. The whole system is absolute bullshit.

    Paul Mitchell

There was about 30 Mitchell pages when I logged on. So what’s the story? Mitchell good or Mitchell bad?
  14. I am a dickhead 😂 just not an attention seeking one
  15. It was never a vanity project. Saudis 2030 thing doesn’t include Newcastle as a feature.. it’s about their own league. I think they’ll have a value in mind of hitting before they sell. 3bn maybe. We’re halfway there. *que the Bon Jovi puns
  16. Total maverick, sublime on his day but didn’t show it enough. The difference between him and Messi was that Messi has it in him to do all the same elite skill stuff but he could also play it simple and bring team mates into it. (ie not just playing for himself) Ben Arfa never quite grasped that. I don’t think he could be coached either. Can you imagine him trying to press under Howe?
  17. He was relatively unknown then and teams either had totally underestimated him or hadn’t done any scouting on how to play against him. He’s not a terrible player by any means.. he’s had some cracking games for us but he’s not brave enough on the ball at times and his speed of thought I believe is affected by confidence issues. He sometimes waits too long to play that pass. I believe he’s just well scouted now and teams know how to stifle him.
  18. My take on it is that the PSR debacle was blamed on herself and Mehrdad. Possibly too many legal cases around money involved with her too. the quotes when she left seemed all very amicable but it does appear she was blindsided.
  19. There’s frustration and doubt setting in, at least with the supporters and the media who are feeding it. Best thing PIF could do right now is just give some reassurance that the ambitions haven’t changed and that there’s a plan to get there. Currently it’s starting to seem like we’re just existing again.. at a larger capacity to Mike Ashley’s NUFC but still, like we’re waiting for something to change. And while it doesn’t, those top 4 ambitions have slipped back now to top 6/7.
  20. Based on what we’ve seen of Hall and Kelly this season, Targett has every right to think he can win his place back.
  21. 2/10 at best. 20m spunked on that Greek keeper apparently, it should really be 1/10. I really thought we’d sign someone.. even something underwhelming. Thats two shitty windows now.. back to back. We’re slipping backwards as all around us are strengthening.

    Paul Mitchell

This is why I think Howe’s position will become untenable. Results will eventually match the level of performances and Howe will face those sorts of questions about who’s to blame for the window.. he’s hardly going to take responsibility himself.
  23. We should have had the guts of 80m to spend.. they chose not to. Deals to be made today and all through the window. But they didn’t. Whatever way you want to look at it, something doesn’t appear to be right with the club. Unfortunately for Howe, Mitchell is above him. So only one winner if they come to fall out.
  24. Howe will be gone before Christmas. They just decided not to back him. Even sounds like we low balled the Guehi bids.. and more I think about it more it sounds like Mitchell leaked the bid to make it seem like we were trying to do something.
