  1. Don't think he could have done anything about that.
  2. Having a good game v Belgium, surely he's worth 5m to soneone.
  3. I think Tripps will leave and Bruno will be made captain or vice captain at the very least. He's a sentimental bugger.. he'll love that.
  4. No it's snippets of quotes from those at the club. They'd have known in January if they were in bother and would have acted accordingly. It's tight enough that we couldn't spend much. Leaving it with 2 weeks to go before they might potentially get a fine and a points deduction (if an outgoing transfer didn't work out) is not how they operate. So common sense tells that we're on the right side of it. You disagree?
  5. From July. We're just about on right side of PSR limit (in my opinion)
  6. His actual garden will be the real plot twist of the summer.
  7. I think Gordon will get a chance soon and make Southgates mind up for him. The game was crying out for him from about 60 mins in the second half. It will be the making of Kane as well as Gordon will go to the line and cut back repeatedly.
  8. France are elite, but that doesn't mean Serbia aren't an excellent side. England have never been as good as what the fans or media pump them up to be. They always have it too easy in qualification groups so rarely get tested until after the group stages in competitions and then suddenly it's "what's happened to them.. look shit" That's why a tough slog like tonight will do them no harm.
  9. Serbia are an excellent side with excellent players. They turned up the second half yet England never looked in too much trouble. This game will stand to England after the group stages, seeing out games when things aren't going so well isn't a given for any side.
  10. Is Branthwaite actually that good? Everton do have form for churning out decent defenders every couple of seasons for a good fee.. they got 55m for stones in what must have been 6 or 7 years ago which was very decent money. 30m for Lescott which was even before then. Come to think of it.. 80something million Man Utd paid them for Lukaku.. how on earth have they been up such a shit creek financially given how much they've sold players for.
  11. Only time I've been scared in or around a football match was in Italy, Roma playing Galatasaray.. didn't go to the match but the Ultras were squaring up right beside our hotel as we were supposed to be heading out.. was more than happy to hang out in the lobby for a while 🙂
  12. Remember when Trump said in front of Putin that Russia "did not" interfere in the elections, then when challenged on it back in the States he just went.. "I meant to say did" - sort of reminds me of this fiasco
  13. My thinking on where we are with FFP/PSR limit is that it’s a figure less than what the fee we agreed for Lewis Hall was, or we would have just bought him outright. Add some good practice redundancy funds in there for any unexpected operational issues and maybe it's realistic to suggest that we're 5/10m on the right side of the limit?
  14. Aye, Bellamy was a dumb little shit and had an outrageously high opinion of himself. The bling brat pack we had in the dressing room was fine when results were going our way but the summer we only signed Bowyer on a free it was evident to everyone including the players that the party was over. Instead of grouping together and trying to maximise a league position, they were all in it for themselves, including Shearer who had been flirting with Liverpool through back channels. If Robson had any sort of failure at the club it was allowing that sort of mentality to fester, but ultimately the financial position was down to the chairman. Things were not good behind the scenes.
  15. Italy is class so I don’t blame him. Totally different pace of life and better weather. If that’s what your into.
  16. Not being quite good enough and having poor games are very different things.. he was fairly consistent at being slightly above average
  17. I don’t think he quite fit in with the characters in the dressing room. If I remember correctly he shared a birthday with SBR so am guessing Bobby took him under his wing (teachers pet type thing).. he may have been very much out of sorts and unsettled after he got sacked. He was gone within a year? He’s about as boring as Michael Owen as a pundit but I can’t say I ever had any bad feelings towards him, even the goldfish bowl comment was fairly tame compared to how some players have been disrespectful.

100% And what has the reaction been to the 3/4 scenarios? Majority want to remain at SJP but would like to see a more extensive rebuild. The idea of moving may not present as much opposition as first thought. Their preferred option will fully depend on the budget available. Are Reubens/PIF going to chip together more than 1bn to do this? That’s probably what it’ll cost. That for me would be the biggest sign of how long term their plans are.
  19. Dyer was one of our best players when fit.. but he earned the bling bling tag and was a right cunt in public by all accounts. We held onto him for too long. Jenas was good for us, can’t remember him having a poor game. He just wasn’t built enough or experienced enough to compete in a midfield against the likes of Keane and Vieira. There was hype around him though and we should have cashed in sooner and made more from that deal. He went to Spurs for a fairly low fee in the end. 7m?
  20. I’d loved to have seen him witness the club on its current trajectory. Perhaps the side were slightly off it the season he got sacked but he’d have turned it around sooner or later and he’d certainly have gotten the value for any outgoing sales we made. He easily had a good 2/3 seasons left in him health permitting. Souness (despite thinking he’s ok these days) fell out with everyone decent in the squad and spent close to 10 million on an absolutely terrible defender.. a deal that should still be looked into imho. That decline had already happened before Mike Ashley got there.. he just turned everything up to 11, the snidey cunt. Give SBR a few more seasons and there’s a strong possibility that Mike Ashley never happens.
  21. It’s always useful to do a bit of digging on who’s putting up the money for a venture like that. Couple of dodgy websites which they seem more than happy to change, take offline etc.. In this case.. the money trail leads to Risq Capital who seem to want to legitimise their trading platform to take a slice of the Asian gambling pie. One of their two directors is Irish, John Nagle who has had most of his assets seized by the banks over the last 10 years. His background is technology platforms and he was boss of a platform called Payzone From looking over it, doesn’t seem like an illegal gambling website but more of a scheme to look legit so that people get duped into using his platform. If one were to really dig into this, would be interesting to see the links between this Nagle chap and Steve Parish. The fall and rise of Reginald Perrin comes to mind. https://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/courts/circuit-court/former-home-of-ex-payzone-chief-john-nagle-repossessed-1.3154012
  22. Echo those sentiments. Was a regular place that would have showed up on my Newsnow feed which I still click on daily. Takes a good bit of effort to keep a site like that running which I hope doesn’t go unnoticed. Those who keep here afloat as well are very much appreciated, as was Ed Harrison RIP.
  23. Be a real shame if he got sold as looks a rare talent. There were some mentions of a poor attitude when we signed him first, but haven’t heard anything bad said from season just gone. Just don’t think he’s a Howe type player. 40m would be ok but I think it gets done for less than that, 20-25
