  1. He won us the penalty against Leverkusen and basically started the next PL game against Chelsea. Thank goodness he did as well. Keep the faith Yorkie, less of these rash takes please. 😉
  2. Frustrating and just seems like this season will never got going for us. Some plus points today though and need to back it up with a good performance at OT on Boxing Day.
  3. He’s been on club radar for a while alongside Ederson, both good players but think I’d lean towards Camara now due to age and potential ceiling.
  4. Pace and can press better than Barnes. Think Barnes would struggle through the middle due to lack of pace and physicality.
  5. I think Kees Smit would be a very exciting signing but competition is going to be hot. Lamine Camara is still only 21 and probably much more ready to go straight into the fold. Think he’s a better footballer than Ederson and can also put himself about. Good highlight reel here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nWIa_eIkcY
  6. There was a few groans when we were chasing the winner and he got the ball with just the full back in front of him, instead of going at the full back his first instinct was to turn and pass the ball back. Unfortunately the only way he’ll get his confidence back is by being brave and trying things. Personally I’d rather he ran the ball out of play at least trying something. Lots of players have buckled playing at SJP over the years he needs to be mentally stronger, or his career is only going one way here.
  7. Aye, but most clubs have introduced swathes of safe standing for home fans where lagging behind.
  8. All midfielders bar Methalie. Lamine Camara is probably the most accomplished of the lot but all youngsters and the type of profile we should be targeting.
  9. Still find it unbelievable that we’ve made all the away end safe standing, which is basically assisting the away atmosphere at the expense of home advantage. This should be the angle we take with the club and it’s completely shafting ourselves in terms of backing the lads. If there’s a delay due to stadium situation being up in the air, that’s totally unacceptable due to timeframe and the fact where making temporary improvements at the training ground in the interim. Sure there’s no uplift in terms of finances but the match day experience is becoming a real issue, which could have a financial impact. Where not a tourist club and still rely on our support within the region to fill SJP.
  10. Aye the Milburn wing near the Leazes, East Stand Gallowgate wing and old East Stand benches used to be full of radgies great days.
  11. Yet they keep investing millions in little old Newcastle.
  12. I’m hoping Silverstone bogging off might have a positive impact,he was disliked by Arsenal fans and blamed for a lot of problems re ticketing at the Emirates. The problem we have is that none of the fan organisations appear to be really pushing the atmosphere problem, I’ve seen NUSC mention it in dispatches but it’s not enough we need some real fan pressure. A new stadium for us and I think progress is being made on that front behind the scenes, needs to be priced correctly, or will be a white elephant. Re-sale tickets would be snapped up straight away previously, but my feeling is that a combination of more matches, prices becoming prohibitive this season and the poor match day experience is starting to make local fans vote with their feet.
  13. Gallowgate middle tier is probably your back bone of ageing season ticket holders who can’t be arsed to create an atmosphere these days and just go to get away from the Mrs on a weekend. If the club said they were making the Gallowgate all standing next season there would be hell on from them. Dave from Gosforth and Tina from Wideopen would be in the Chronicle saying what an outrage it is, they’ve had those seats since the 90’s and can no longer stand for 90 mins due to gout. As a previous poster has said all the big clubs have a stand where everyone stands for the big games. The Kop must have loads of ageing scousers on it and somehow by a miracle they manage to stand and sing. It’s a culture thing and bar a hardcore of maybe 20k, I think most of our lot go for the social aspect and just to say they’ve gone to the match. Any terrace/fan culture with us probably went in the 90’s at SJP and it’s now very soulless, bar the brief period of level 7 corner. A lot of these tourists come to experience an atmosphere and the club need to be very careful, the match day experience is very poor and becoming a real turn off in terms of attending future matches.
  14. Summer was a disaster if Elanga and Ramsey don’t come good. Due to PSR we could ill afford to get one big deal wrong, yet alone potentially two. We also need a return from Wissa soon due to his age and no re-sale value. The repercussions of the summer could be felt for a long time if things don’t pick up quickly.
  15. Not sure how you reform away ticketing to make any noticeable difference in the quality of vocal backing. It’s still going to be restricted to the ageing season ticket holder demographic whichever way you do it, unless you give a percentage of the allocation to members which would be far from a guaranteed way of improving the atmosphere. A bigger ground with a higher percentage of cheaper season tickets for under 21’s would be the answer in my opinion. This would get a new generation in the ground on a regular basis and give them access to away tickets in the right system.
  16. I doubt he’d have the nerve to mention PL experience ever again after this summer. You’d hope lessons have been learnt and won’t be repeated again.
  17. Aye like you say whingeing about being kettled through there is embarrassing. Was thinking back to some of my previous visits through there and i thought the policing was light in comparison on the walk.
  18. The away support changed at the point ID checks came in and as previously mentioned, the lesser spotted season ticket holders who never bothered going started fancying an away trip.
  19. I haven’t brought myself to watch Sundays game back yet but sure he ran off the pitch when his number came up? It’s the worst response possible from a supposed big player in a derby match. I’d rather see him show some dissent and at least look fucked off about being substituted. Looks like he’s going through the motions at times unfortunately.
  20. Howe seen him destroy Burn in that drubbing they gave us and was sold.
  21. Results like Sunday are character building and will weed out the feint hearted. Should always get behind the lads at the match, some of our best atmospheres over the years have been in adversity. The manager situation is a different discussion entirely and everyone is entitled to their opinion.
  22. Hopefully Sunday puts a bit fire in the supporters as well. I think it will, in my experience our fans have always been at their best when backs are against the wall.
  23. It was a surrender and emotions are running high, whatever you want to call our approach on Sunday it was unacceptable in a game of that magnitude and not a game you conserve energy in.
  24. The defensive approach to the game was cowardly against that shower of shite.
