  1. Even with our inability to cope with their power, pace and transition speed, it’s the first game of the season where we’ve been truly and comprehensively outclassed. This really reminds me of the second half at Spurs away last season. There we were completely overrun and showed no tactical awareness to change the outcome of the game. That’s the thing that bugs me the most, we continue to play the same way and leave the same open spaces without really making appropriate changes based on the opposition
  2. I’d definitely swap Burn for Targett. The threat is quick passing and movement on the outside and through balls in behind. I think more mobility will help us defend and attack
  3. Agree with this assessment as he hasn’t really shown any of the quality you’d be expecting from a £40m player. I’ve always thought that he didn’t have any clear qualities that could make him so expensive. I still think he needs to be given time, you can’t judge him on that shocking first half from the whole team
  4. Watkins is fantastic at getting to every ball first and putting his body in the way
  5. Looks a very good player every time I see him
  6. Ramsey’s pace and power also causing us a lot of problems and we haven’t worked out how to stop him yet
  7. I’m hoping we can match or better the result Spurs have this weekend so we can keep our 3 point lead before they come to St James’ Park. They have the easier game this weekend, but you just never know
  8. We wouldn’t have to buy any other central midfielders for quite a few years. Rice, Bruno, Willock, Joelinton and Longstaff all at a good age
  9. I actually think he’d want to join us given Eddie and the coaching team, the overall project and the prospect of Champions League football next season. I just don’t see us coming out on top in a bidding war though. It looks like Liverpool aren’t interested or want to spend the money on one player and Man City will be after Bellingham. Surely the likes of Man Utd and Arsenal wouldn’t want to risk losing out on him
  10. Think that ship has sailed. Rather we go for Joao Pedro instead anyways

    Anthony Gordon

We will be in Pot 4 and be one of the so called group games that is usually classed as the easy touch and the one everyone else looks to beat. We have no points in Europe so will be ranked at the bottom, but everyone will wanting to avoid us that’s for sure
  12. I just don’t see us winning 7 games in a row, it just never happens. Happily take a draw and then go on another 5 game winning run
  13. I’m actually favouring a draw against Villa just to break the winning run. Sounds strange I know, but I’d rather reset the run so that Spurs at home starts a new winning run of games
  14. I’m sure we’ll argue our case as much as we can. I think the ruling was really only been brought in to stop the type of thing that happened at Man City where Etihad game them hundreds of millions for naming rights to the shirt and stadium. This was at the time when they were just getting started and was clearly an insane sum.
  15. Pretty sure it’s only related third party sponsorships that the rule applies. So I’d think the Noon sleeve sponsor would have been looked at and approved because PIF have some equity in the company
  16. I think I said early on in his time here, that he’s the best player I’ve ever seen play for us. He’s so composed on the ball, calms everything down and just oozes class, it’s like he’s playing the game in slow motion. We’re so lucky to have him
  17. We still have the harder games left to play so I’m not getting too carried away right now. The away games against Chelsea, Everton, Leeds and Villa are big match stadia and rivalries which we could easily struggle for win in any of them. I don’t think that will happen because we’re a top team now and will find a way to get something, but it’s going to be tight. Overall we deserve to finish in the top 4 and even top 3 because we have been the third best team in the league for sure
  18. Brentford really are just a modern day Bolton Wanderers
  19. I’m forever comparing about the Longstaff kick in the face and now the Schar one last weekend. We really need to revisit how VAR is used for situations like today’s penalty. Entirely subjective decisions cannot be overruled unless there’s a consensus. It’s farcical that one guy in a video booth can look at something 10 times and still can’t give a clear decision
  20. I have a feeling he’s the one we want, a lot of rumours say so (I know!), but the buy out clause seems like the type of business we will look at
  21. Both Man Utd and Everton aren’t great are they
  22. I appreciate what Sean gives to the team, but I think he needs to be replaced with a similar type of player (high energy and box-to-box) that offers more technical ability. Maybe that’s the side Bruno moves to (on paper) and then we actually target a more defensively minded player (like an Urgarte)
  23. I still think we are at least 5 - 9 points down on what our play has warranted this year. Some of those draws, especially a few of the 0-0s deserved a win
  24. I really don’t think we will be after a traditional wide attacking player this summer unless a long term target becomes available (like a Diaby). We just spent a lot of money on Gordon and there will be other areas to strengthen that require more focus first. We also already have four players to fit in those positions. Obviously you want more quality there, but Murphy has actually played really well and follows the gameplay excellently and ASM has shown the quality he brings in recent weeks. I think we go after a central striker that can play out wide if need be (like an Joao Pedro) and then a Maddison type midfielder that can operate from the right or left.
  25. Do they mention what is deemed as an acceptable transfer fee?
