  1. Not a fan of the Europa Conference and would actually prefer that we don’t ever enter it. The real progress to me this year is the fact that we won’t be losing the usual 15+ league games in a season. Our mentality totally changing to one that doesn’t just accept defeat is a great shift from 18 months ago
  2. Fairly certain that I read it as being top 4 and the winner - you just can’t have more than 5 in the competition
  3. True. I think only an elite level team would tempt him away from us. Besides, it will be easier to justify staying here when there are 5 champions league places available from 24/25. We look like falling short this year, but when there’s one extra place it becomes somewhat easier to keep your best players
  4. I’ve always thought that Nelson at Arsenal has so much talent, but just hugely unlucky with injuries - he’d be a good shout on a free
  5. If Dummett can hang around the place just because of a good attitude then surely you’d keep Burn
  6. Just hoping it’s not the customary humping we usually see
  7. Brighton have got a great chance to get to a final now
  8. Don’t we need a Man Utd v Man City final to improve our European chances?
  9. My frustration with Miggy is that he always seems to do the daft thing when he’s got time to make a decision (wrong pass, poor accuracy, another touch or a cut back). I can’t get over that genuine chance we had on Sunday of scoring on the break in the opening minutes of the game where there were three players running ahead of him and he messed up the easy pass
  10. It’s hard one because I’ve always rated the guy and think he’s a top player. For some reason he just seems to have lost something, I don’t know what it is, but something doesn’t seem right with him this year. Maybe his continual injuries are finally catching up to him and just stopping him from getting back to that level we expect from. He’s 31 so certainly not the end of the road, but it feels like it’s part of the process of him starting to decline now

    Fabian Schär

He goes down with a head injury so often that my wife (who rarely watches us play) asked yesterday why he’s always semi conscious on the floor every time she sees him
  12. I thought we played well and gave everything out there today. Extremely disappointed by the goals because they came from absolutely nothing and against the run of the play. Man Utd clearly have more big game experience and managed the game far better and were tactically spot on. They were compact, sat back and assessed the flow of the game, using their pace and quick passing to pounce when the opportunity presented itself. We had a lot of good positions and opened them up numerous times with the final pass letting us down constantly. We also slowed things down too often when in a threatening position (ASM being guilty of this although I thought he played well). We’ll get better with experience and a higher quality of player
  13. It’s a different event for them. They’ll just turn up a couple of hours before the game and expect to leave as winners. I guess that’s what happens when you’re used to the big occasion. It’s a massive day out for us and one we all want to soak up and enjoy for as long as possible
  14. Not a single Man Utd out earlier this morning between 9.30am and 11am. Wembley was black and white
  15. I take your point and I’d blame Trippier more for both goals. He dropped deep for both goals and then didn’t track the run from Nunez on the first - instead he seemed to be concerned about Robertson out wide when that was never the main threat.
  16. I’m worried about the balls being played in behind our defence for Rashford and Sancho. That’s why I’d be tempted to play Willock as we need to keep good pressure on the ball to stop the pass being played. We can’t be having a situation like on Saturday when a player like Trent was given all the time in the world to look up and spot a pass
  17. I don’t think you can go into a game like this without Longstaff’s energy. Especially since ASM will be playing and that tends to leave us more exposed.
  18. I’d be tempted to play Isak for the change in style. Didn’t Wilson have a pretty poor game against these lot in the league game with Varane easily dealing with him? In saying that he did have that stonewall penalty incident, but I remember being frustrated with him

    Loris Karius

Agree. A perfect redemption story for the man. Especially since whenever that champions league final is talked about everyone forgets to mention he played the game concussed after Ramos deliberately elbowed him in the head
  20. Feels like 70 plus points will take us there by the looks of it. That’s around 10 wins. It’s pretty hard to see that in the current form, but we will turn it around at some stage I’m sure of it. I’m hoping it starts next weekend
  21. I have to say that Trippier’s defensive positions have been suspect since he arrived. He also seems to regularly be the last man playing the attacker on side when the line pushes out. I guess that’s the price you pay for his forward ability
  22. He excels when the shape and structure is thrown out the window and he can just play. I miss watching those runs forward where you don’t know what the hell is going to happen next
  23. Was just telling the wife this whilst she ignores me. Everything going wrong today so that next week we’re at it
