Yeah I thought we would be looking more towards the loan market this window. Only problem with that are that loans usually happen towards the very end of the window. With the position we’re in and vital games coming up, I think we have been forced down the permanent signings route (more so with Wilson injured). Clubs know we’re desperate and are currently trying to fleece us for stupid transfer fees. This could now be resulting in a ‘scattergun’ approach from our side, which imho is a dangerous way to go.

So why did Amanda Staveley say on day 1 of the takeover that their aim is to win the league within five - ten year, you don’t do that unless you spend stupid money and you certainly don’t do that by signing the likes of Wood and Cantwell. Or was Staveley just talking total shit? She did say those exact words though.

Getting a 5/10 player is not improving the squad. We need to be aiming for the Trippier end of quality. Wood and Cantwell are not players we should be looking at. If you think different that’s your opinion.

You don’t evolve by adding more deadwood to the squad though, you replace them with a much higher quality if you really want to progress. Wood and Cantwell is just adding more deadwood whilst Trippier is evolving the squad.

Exactly the right answer, we have enough deadwood (nearly a whole squad) to shift, without adding some more to the pike.

It’s a discussion on how PIF maybe viewing what is happening so far nothing more. As Jackie Broon said. she has come out herself saying results are expected. Nobody has came out saying they don’t like her or that she should be sacked either, as you say. There is a need for a football director to be appointed (should have been weeks ago) and let her concentrate on the PR side of things. Some are having hissy fits over people just discussing where we are currently and how it’s being viewed by PIF.

She will probably get that, let’s see with the signings though, as when the likes of Wood are being mentioned as targets, then that is a big concern to me. Time will tell though.
