Who says we’re going to continue to perform like that though? We know the level this team is capable of playing at. Seems weird to me to get wound up about a hypothetical situation where we might continue to play shit.

It’s whinging without perspective or context. No one is saying that we turned it a stellar performance on Tuesday but it was our first CL game in twenty years, away from home, and against last year’s semifinalists. Those are pretty important qualifiers. Personally I wasn’t expecting Tuesday to be representative of anything. I didn’t have any expectation about what might occur because it was a complete voyage into the unknown. I said it last season and nothing so far has dissuaded me - the past year and a half are the best it’ll get, not in terms of actual success but the feeling around the club. Expectations have shifted, our ‘level’ has changed. People are no longer going to be satisfied with a perfunctory 1-0 win over a team like Brentford. I’m not saying whether that’s right or wrong, but it is going to lead to some incredibly fucking tedious arguments on here. The price of success.

Ashley was the best thing that happened to a lot of our fans. It gave the licence to moan without looking like unreasonable dickheads.

Bye Everton.

American investment firm currently ruining Seville, Hertha Berlin and Standard Liege among others.

777 will finish off the job Moshiri has started. Absolutely scandalous they’re able to run so many clubs into the ground.

I can’t believe the murderous theocracy that uses sport as a means to improve its global reputation doesn’t have the same feeling towards Newcastle United as our fans do

Getting brought down to earth with a bump this season I fear. Players like Almiron aren’t CL quality. Going to find that out very quickly. Overall though the approach was shit. Brighton won handsomely and deserved to. Howe’s got a tonne of work to do over the next few weeks.

Going to go back through his thread and make a note of everyone who was saying he was shit.

Hope not. They look like the type of thing you wear when Dark Justice corner you outside Central Station.

It’s hard to see, but given the absolutely shambolic state of their operation it would not be a surprise if they were in breach of some sort of contractual obligation.

PSG subreddit is full of people either losing their minds or saying “it’s ok, we’ll beat Dortmund and Milan” -

The doom and gloom is weird. It’s a great draw. Big names but no one you would say is a strong favourite for the competition as a whole. It could’ve been easier, but who cares? We’re class and I back us to get out of that. -

This. Fucking love that. No easy games at this level. -
He’s hardly going to say they were shit when he fucked it up.

He’s class. Every time he ran at TAA they looked terrified. Huge mistake to take him off.

Jarrow scum at it again.

Testify brother. I spend ten months of my year absolutely fucking beside myself over what a bunch of multimillionaires do for an hour and a half on a weekend. It’s mint, innit?

At least we won the servers

I’m more annoyed about missing out on Klopp’s cryarsing about the ‘glass ceiling’ and forgetting his club tried to spend £100m+ on a player than I am about the points right now.

I don’t see it with Almiron. Sorry lads. Couple of good chances but we’re basically carrying him for the other 87 mins. If Trippier’s not pointing then he’s rarely making a run of any significance. People on here were waxing lyrical about him against Villa and during the first 45 mins I thought he was absolutely pish. That said he wasn’t the main problem today, but he’s the most obvious upgrade.

We weren’t poor in the first half. Liverpool are probably the one team that thrive on absolute chaos more than us, as we found out last season. We needed to suck that out of the game and once we did we were the better team. They basically had nothing after the first twenty mins. In the second half we didn’t finish them off, panicked and shafted ourselves. That simple. We took of anyone who carried any sort of meaningful threat, gave them the impetus to go for it during the last twenty mins because they were already 1-0 down. Minute they equalised we were losing that.

I rate Longstaff but he’s not going to do what Tonali does. Proper “let’s shore things up” change but instead we surrendered everything. Gordon for Barnes was worse. Gordon was on a one. They couldn’t cope with him. To take him off and leave Miggy on is fucking daft.
