They are having the best season they have had for about 25 years and we have been absolutely shite for the most part and will undoubtedly improve yet we are only 4 points behind them , sums up the difference.

This thread will be remarkably quiet tonight but it's amazing how often he makes people in here look like complete fools

We basically have a squad of players that like to run , press, be aggressive and graft . We are a match for anyone when we do that but we rarely ever do anymore for some reason. It's pointless trying to play any other way with this squad as it's not what they are good at . We don't need to change formation we need to play like we used to when we were good .

Hard to judge him on what he has done in Italy really , that league is such a poor standard these days. It's no coincidence that players that have struggled in this league end up looking much better in the Italian league. Even Lukaku looked a world beater in that league but never looked anywhere near that here .

Still don't think they are anywhere near the level they were a few years ago, already lost to Villa, Brighton and Spurs . If we were anywhere near our best I would be confident of getting something from this game .

It's not as simple as saying we could have spent better in the summer , we tried to buy genuine next level sort of players and none of them wanted to come here so we had to make do with players a few levels below elite .

Saying we have been awful since March is simply untrue , we won 7 of our last 11 league games.

I think a big part of it is that other teams are way more physical now and able to match us , a couple years ago we could bully teams but them teams are able to match us now physically .

He is allowed a free pass for at least one bad season after everything he has achieved here .

They actually remind me of us a few years ago when we finished 4th. Big strong fast and physical , no other distractions and loads of momentum . They won't finish 4th but look certain for a top half finish at worst .

For people worrying about the derby it's not even our biggest game of the week .

Xhaka Is the best player they have had in the last 30 years , the difference is he wouldn't even make our bench if we did a best 11 plus subs of our last 30 years .

Latest one on RTG is that they could compete and win games in the current champions league format . This coming from a club that has never once in their entire history been good enough to play in the competition.

We are either all being incredibly harsh on him calling him out for being lazy and shit. The other option is that his first full season he had with us was just a massive purple patch and he's nothing more than the bang average footballer he has shown for the last 18 months, which means we need to adjust our expectations of him.

I think it's just too much of a coincidence that since his dream move to Liverpool fell through he's never been the same player. He seems half arsed in his running and tracking back since then which also makes him an easy target . The season before that he was everywhere , running , scoring goals high energy and it's very rare we see that now . If you are playing shit in the lesser games but well in the champions league games then people are always going to be asking questions of you.

People criticising his summer signings also forget he tried to get us genuine next level sort of players, but none of them wanted to come here and went elsewhere.

Think we will win this comfortably but then get beat by Brentford.

This is the problem , technically he is awful he can't pass a ball and a lot of his crossing is just as bad . Not sure you can really coach the basics like that into a footballer if they don't already have them at this point . He excels when he has loads of open space to run into which we rarely ever get now so I don't really see how he will ever really show more than he currently has for us .

That Wolves manager was out having beers with the fans only a few months ago and they all loved him , few bad results and they all hate him and he gets sacked .

Of course you can but when the best manager we have had in all of all of our lifetimes has a few bad results he deserves a lot of leaway.

We will finish top 7/8 and have a cup run which is as good as we can do really with PSR restrictions.

He will sort it out eventually, we always have a weird run under him and he always fixes it .

Some of these posts on this thread are a carbon copy of a year ago, it's embarrassing and makes people doubting Eddie yet again look so stupid .

Pope is the least of our problems , even with his mistakes today we were a shambles and deserved to get beat .
