Which was crazy, given the lack of subs he had at his disposal...
-
Think he will benefit from a full pre season with Eddie and team. I had my worries when we signed him, but while he is wearing black and white he will have my support. Right now I think can't fault his commitment, work rate etc. Just end product.
-
I wouldn't be against starting him. He obviously will start some games. I just think playing a 50 game year next year will mean that we will have to be even more careful about not burning him out (like Feb this year). We all saw what 2 games a week did to him when Isak was injured. I think if you limit his minutes to 30 a game, with the odd start, you'll see a huge return. From 7 appearances this month, he's started twice and it seems to suit him. He looks much fresher.
-
Think the role of an impact sub will really suit him at this stage of his career. He's has a lot of injuries and managing his minutes will keep his body well rested. There's nothing to say he can't impact every game by coming on for 30 minutes.

3 goals against Spurs in the opening 20? Amateurs.
-
Wilson and Isak needed. Gordon and Murphy had loads of joy on the left. I'd push Thierry Isak over there and let him get involved more.

I do agree. But of course European football doesn't help. As I say, when you get European football, it takes major investment to compete across all fronts. If you don't get it right, it can massively backfire.
-
Maybe, but Europe can be damaging to league form, especially if playing Thursday evenings. Look at West Ham. It really depends how much Villa can invest and how those signings turn out. If we get Europe, there's a good case for needing a LB, CB, RB, CM and Winger / Forward all capable of playing big minutes. Can't expect Schar, Trippier and an already thin on the ground to play 50+ games. That's £150m+ on investment. Can villa commit similarly? Not sure what their financial situation looks like..
-
I'm converted, but you've got to give it Emery for the job he's done. If they hadn't started off so poorly with Slippy, they could have really been a threat
-
If only they didn't spend 200M+ on Antony, Sancho and Maguire
-
Can't say much about today's performance. Trippier looked slow, off it and past his best when he came back from his lay-off. For about all of three weeks and then he was quality. He just needs football..
-
I just hope that he doesn't fall victim to his own high standards Even if we're mid-table next year after playing Tues/Weds and Sat/Sun, our supporters shouldn't forget the miracles he's performed and that we're way ahead in the project. We're undoubtedly going to hit snags. This man is someone I want at the club for a long time.

The fact people are even mentioning him in the same breathe as KK and SBR is ludicrous. Not because he's not worthy of it, but because of the fact it's happened so quickly and in my wildest dreams I never expected it. I never thought I'd see the day where I'd be this proud to support Newcastle, again. 18 months in charge.. and this...

Big Dan Burn owes Schar a dinner...

Not a 'rumour', but I'd like Berge from Sheffield United. Watched him a lot this year. He's a tall, powerhouse, box to box of a midfielder. He breaks up play, never breaks sweat, and his composure on the ball is unreal. He makes some lovely driving runs forward too.. really has it all. Would be a great signing...
-
I'm paraphrasing but I remember him saying something like "I can work with anyone. The only thing I will not tolerate is having no desire to improve". It's why he fell out with Defoe at Bournemouth.
-
For me it reminds me of when we beat Sheffield Wednesday 8-0 in 1999. As a kid growing up just south of Sheffield, I took great pleasure going into school on the Monday.
-
I remember watching a documentary of when he was at Bournemouth. I remember him saying that by the following morning he and his coaching staff would have cut up the game into little clips to be sent to each player. Included would be things that each player had done well (that he and the coaching team had noticed), reinforcing previous coaching points, along with a few things they could improve on with new coaching points. Never been in an elite dressing room, but can imagine that it's a great way to let your players know that you're noticing their contributions and that you're committed to their development.
-
If he's coachable, he will be alright. He only needs to look at other English lads we have in the team like Murphy and Longstaff.
-
Well, judging by that I reckon he's only going because he's had enough
-
For me, in CM and in my lifetime it's Speed, Lee and Cabaye. I loved all three for different reasons. Edit: Not saying they're ahead BTW. Just that, before Bruno, these were my top 3 CMs
-
Who would he have to pass? i.e who do you have in #1 at present? Not being a dick and suggesting Bruno is by miles #1 already. Genuinely curious as to who you have as his closest competition. Question open to everyone

Acuna too Edit: Pons just added it

Why do I feel instantly worried seeing Schar hold anything but his head?
-
I swear whatever Eddie touches turns to gold. We had two back to back shit first halves, and he kicked them up the arse and made brilliant subs to get results. A bad villa result, and now this as a response... He's ruthless man
