  1. I think they went 5-2-3 and it caused us problems for a while. They havent really created anything. Goal was a throw in and the clearance from goal line was a horrible mess by Gordon.
  2. Wait, I totally missed that Burnley made a substitution. Was Esteve injured?
  3. Walker? I think he got the ball fairly. Before that he pushed a bit though.
  4. Gordon is going to have to come off. Their only threat is our left when he doesn't do his job.
  5. We are so bad on the ball again. 5-4-1 without possession.
  6. Elliot is slow and weak, and would cost something like 40 million. Huge no from me. Edit. for example, don't think Elliot is any better than Johson.
  7. Did Pogba play? Then I think you make no sense.
  8. Your "reserves" cost more than Newcastle XI most likely. Wages added definitely.
  9. I think it is a bit different when you don't even try to counter and the bus is there for half an hour or more. Very rarely you see top teams sit so deep. Liverpool were in full panic mode.
  10. With a shite performance. Aaah, whatever.
  11. I don't think we deserved anything more than perhaps a draw. It was a poor game and first goal was always going to decide that. Put I also think ManU were very poor, as was Newcastle.
  12. I checked it again: Dalot is quite clearly offside and his chance was 0,35xG, a bit over 1/3 of what you created. Sesko was not, it was 0,10. (According to Understat) Well well, now you are twisting my words. If you look the stats from that game, they are nowhere near as bad as this one. Yes, you got overrun totally at the start because of Amorim's awful tactics, but it was not 6-3-1 park the bus game mate. I have never seen Newcastle go to OT and pin you guys to their own box so totally for 40 minutes or something. It looked like Steve Bruce's Manchester United in the second half. That is something I have never seen, even when we have been our best under Howe and you worst under Amorim, it has not looked like that. (btw, in that game you had your "best players" in defence) And now you have to take into account that ManU was a laughing stock then: now fans and even some pundits are saying how ManU are back and challenging top4. Although Carragher put it well saying that the bar has been put so low, you cannot go under it. Newcastle was missing what, 5-6 defenders and playing a 19-year-old midfielder at right back. The reaction to that game totally tells a lot. You cannot keep spending 200 million a season and keep saying it is good thing to scrape wins over Newcastle, whose away form is terrible, or Crystal Palace. These are teams you should be expecting to beat with the money you spend on your team. The fact that ManU fans praise these things tells a lot of the current state of the club. (I can also put some lauging emojis here, put they don't make my argument any better, so I give it a pass)
  13. Well, the 2 chances you had 2nd half (Dalot and Sesko most likely you mean) were offsides, so I would say Hall's crossbar was the closest to a goal. Dorgu's goal is one in a million. But that is the thing. I have never seen Manchester United so much on the backfoot against Newcastle, ever. It has been all 25 years of me watching Newcastle the other way around: Newcastle playing time and parking the bus 6-3-1. It really tells a lot about the state of your club and current team. Missing few players yes, but still. I think it was very even game with a wonder goal that decided it. And at least few sites seem to put xG in our favour, if that tells anything.
  14. The biggest problem with xG is that it only counts shots. If you have three breakaways and the player each time trips over on the edge of the box and doesn't get a shot away, you get 0,00 xG. Or if you get to good positions, but pass(or passes) are a bit too heavy, ball bounces away, a slightly poor touch etc. You have created the opportunity to score, but the execution fails. That is way watching the games tells a lot more.
  15. You were quite poor mate. I mean fair play nice goal by Dorgu, but 2nd half was one way traffic. Never seen ManU so deep against Newcastle. It was 6-3-1 formation in the last half an hour.
  16. To be honest, we have overachieved under Howe. We cannot expect to end up in UCL places year after year with this squad. Our wage bill is 8th biggest and lot of turbulence in the backroom staff.
  17. I get what you mean, and this is something xG doesnt take in to account. Best players shooting from same spot is different than average. I dont think EPL at the moment have many players like this tbh.
  18. Can you explain what is a "ruthless attack" in football? Like which teams or players? And yes, great teams often don't concede a lot of goals. Mourinho's Inter or DiMatteo's Chelsea rode their luck against Barca tbh. Inter had fantastic team. But the point is, if you dont create a lot of opportunities, MOST likely you will not win in the long term. You don't win anything (league titles) by just counterattacking anymore, even though it creates high xG chances when succesful. I don't like xG, but usually it tells something
  19. It can go on for a maybe a season or half, but eventually if you dont create, toi will not score. It really is that simple. Of course you also count xG against. Many reasons for us this season of course.
  20. Most of these are Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea fans.. It is funny to see how they state something like ”this Chelsea teams has is all, they are cooking” or whatever bs, then they get their asses smacked by Sunderland. Teams outside top6 never get any credit from these clowns. One account said Howe will get us relegated.
  21. No, in the long term you dont score if you dont create xG. It has it’s flaws, but eventually you will run out of luck. Goals come from chances created, xG tells you how much you have created.
