This is the best way to incorporate him I think, Howe taking off Willock for him last night might be as sign of things to come. Just not sure on the time frame of it, if he gets one start over Willock and plays well I can’t see Howe not starting him.. depending on the opponent he might put Willock back in occasionally. Fully expect Bruno to be a starter from next season onwards though when he’s been fully bedded in and has settled.

I think that headed chance he tamely hit at Pickford yesterday shows his lack of confidence atm, coming to us knowing he’s our only realistic starting striker with Wilson out puts some pressure on his head to. Reckon he will come good after 3/4 more games.

I probably would to, well after recent performances I think its harsh to drop Shelvey (I know some will disagree) but next season I think thats how we could line up. The key thing is though that Howe will start Shelvey for the rest of this season and based off of his decision to do so last night I cant really say its wrong

You mean play Shelvey in Willocks position? I cant see that tbh, unless like you say we go out with a different approach.. not sure which teams in the league we could currently take that approach with though I think going out with the press is 100% the move atm. On Shelvey being undroppable I'd say this season he is - him, Lascelles and Trippier are Howes mainstays on the pitch imo, the same way he likes limited Ritchie around the dressing room. I also think WIllock can improve and he has a long way to go, he has make his overall game more consistent as he starts slow in the first half and builds in the second. Not sure how much this might be down to playing against tired players and overall just playing better when the whole team grow into the game, hes defo a confidence player either way.

Shelvey is defo not physical enough to press as part of the central 2 of our midfield, I meant that Bruno could come into the team in Willocks role not putting him in Shelveys role. The only way Shelvey fits into the side in this formation is by playing DLP/QB, I guess it all depends on how Howe sees Bruno because theres no chance he drops Shelvey for him anytime soon - the 5 minutes he gave him last night in Willocks place might have been a glimpse of what hes capable of albeit against tired players and could be how we see him put into the starting 11. It does seem doing a straight swap Shelvey for Bruno is the way to go but its just not going to happen at the moment.

Pretty much how I saw it, think alot of what he does goes under appreciated because of a silly yellow card (it was a bad tackle). Hes been one of our most consistent players on the pitch over the last 2 games, looks very settled into the role that Howe has him playing and is very economical with the ball 99% of the time. Like I said yesterday I think Bruno could come in for Willock and not Shelvey.

Howes Joe or Rafas Diame? Both cases of players whos natural positions were supposed to be attacking when they came here, both been given different roles they adjusted to and excelled in quickly. A bonus is that Diame was much older than Joe when Rafa moved him back into midfield and his physicals were defo on the downturn at that point where as Joe physically is as good as any player we've ever had, the lad never even seems to look gassed out.

Ratings Dubravka - 6 A couple of easy saves and that was about it Trippier - 10 Absolutely immense, future captain for a few year to come hopefully Lascelles - 8 OG can hardly really be his fault, Richarlison drew a free kick from him that Lascelles should know better than to give away. Other than that one of his best games in ages. Schar - 6.5 Was a little hesitant at one moment first half with Richarlison that could have cost us, silly foul in the 2nd. Still dont think hes really suited to a back 4. Okay overall though. Targett - 7.5 Solid as fuck, what we all wanted to see. Shelvey - 8 Great game I thought, one stupid yellow which we all know he has in him but other than that he played his role very well. Has such great awareness to get a pass off when the balls played to him especially from throws I've noticed, just plays a tidy one and it gets us moving up field. Willock - 8 Had a shakey moment in the first half and didnt impose himself like he can until the 2nd but when he turned it on he was class. Hes so under valued for us when he gets going like that, playing a different role under Howe to what Bruce had him playing. Great work to win the ball back for the 2nd also. Think him growing into the game was a big reason why we dominated the 2nd half, we were getting edged out in midfield in the 1st. Confidence player for sure. Joe - 7 Not his best game but was still very effective at doing what he does. Great play for the 2nd to lay off Maxi, has so much stamina it looks like he can play two games in one night sometimes. Less said about his face shot the better Fraser - 7.5 Great to see him score and works hard as fuck ASM - 10 Best game hes had for us probably, deserved a goal at least. What a fucking player man Just taking the absolute piss, think he got fired up with how they were doing him dirty in the 1st Wood - 6.5 Could have scored that header, not many of his flicks or knock downs come off he just feels a bit isolated/out of place. Think when he scores one we will see him get better.

His little cameo there might suggest hes capable of playing higher up the pitch in place of Willock rather than it being either him or Shelvey, if this is how Howe sees it then we could see him start next game.

Besides Shelveys stupid yellow Howes choice was vindicated
