  1. He said Premier League! They were a yo yo club when they were punching above their weight years ago. The turd has flushed. I think L1/2 is their level.
  2. Question for @TeddySAFC- noting that you are closer to them in terms of league position, size of fan base, match attendances and quality of squad, although they are far less perilously placed than you financially, what are your feelings on your rivalry with Hartlepool United? You are only a now routine Playoff Final loss, a financial meltdown and one more relegation away from being in the same league as them.
  3. With his age and fitness record, I can't see him generating any fee of note, so not a lot of point selling. I see him as a bench striker, behind a quality CF, ideally with a genuine prospect as our 3rd choice striker. Wood goes anywhere either sold or on loan to get him off the books, As others have said, having him as our number 1 CF is a recipe for disaster with his age and fitness issues. We still need to buy 2 x proper strikers in the summer as priority number 1.
  4. Perez - wholeheartedly agree. He got a few goals in a shocking team, but other than that, he was woeful. His fingers in ears celebration followed by hasily f ing off to Leicester was a massive two fingers at the fans. Is largely hated at Leicester now. Jonas - harsh. Decent player, cracking bloke, fondly remembered. Barton - Bit harsh. Decent player but an absolute thunderc*** personality wise.
  5. Rooney - Decent striker in an excellent team. Played too deep and dined off the 1% of his long shots that went in or the pels that he dived for. Messi - Never played in the PL like Ronaldo did, so will always have a question mark over him being GOAT. Beckham - Bang average journeyman carried by his decent crossing. Without his image, would have been instantly forgotten. Kane - Plays too deep yet plays as a poacher. Good finisher, but would be genuinely class if he had the backbone to play as a genuine 9. Adds little beyond his goals. Bring on the hate!
  6. Doing superfluous step overs and having a unique hairstyle does not absolve you of being requied to be of benefit to the team. He is playing terribly, so fans are getting on his back. Simple. Creating teary threads to defend him in vain doesn't really help the debate.
  7. He's only worth what he's worth. I'd take 35m, as @Ikon said. Same as Wood. I don't think he's worth a fee, but we were over a barrel in January, so had to pay over the odds. Remember that Carrol cost liverpool 35m because they hastily needed to replace Torres. As @Optimistic Nut said, he's exactly the sort of player who will be inserted into a team of cloggers to try and bring something different. He would stand out like a sore thumb surrounded by quality players.
  8. He's had three years to replace Aguero. And Kane and Haaland aren't the only two 9s in the world. City need 2/3 proper 9s. They currently have none.
  9. I think Pep's holding City back and he peaked 2 or 3 years ago. His failure to replace Aguero with an actual number 9 and his insistence on playing wingers as false 9s has cost City dearly many times over. They also completely lack leadership since Kompany left, manifesting itselt in bed-shitting results like this and the other week against Liverpool. The worst thing is, Pep never, ever, learns from failure. He also refuses to have a 'Plan B'. His Tiki Taka looks great putting away shite teams 7-0, but as soon as they come up against a top drawer team, they look like school boys. Great manager a few years ago, but he needs a couple of years out to reload and come back fresh.
  10. If I was one of the strikers at the club, I'd be livid about that quote, mind.
  11. Would be really, really disappointed if we signed him. I think we should be looking at talented prospects that Eddie can mould, not aged, entitled, big timing mercenaries. Also, never forget that he turned us down before because he didn't have the bottle for a relegation scrap. Zero loyalty.
  12. As I've said previously, he is nowhere near PL standard and shouldn't be anywhere near the pitch next season, but we have no other alternative at 9, so we have to use him. ASM and Joelinton can't play 9, but they can and should play elsewhere, so Wood gets the start for me. Great lad, terrible footballer and a necessarily evil until we get a decent 9.
  13. If we get better players to cover his defensive duties and ASM ups his end product, decision making and effort, then yes.
  14. Robert played in a much better team though. He was providing service to top drawer strikers, flanked by Dyer, Jenas and Speed and had Olivier Bernard behind him who had the legs to cover him. Ginola was in a similar position. ASM can't be carried as a luxury player in this team, and assuming we get more players of the standard of Bruno, he won't be our talisman either. For me, he needs to learn to be a tricky winger who can play as part of a quality team. At the minute, he's far too one dimensional, and teams know how to negate him. Change the attitude and style, or move on. Clearly has the talent, but there is a massive question mark over his character and desire. At this point in time, I'd take 35mil for him and reinvest. I hope he proves me wrong and becomes a key player for us next season.
  15. Clearly we're playing well, but we need to score at least twice to win, as it's guaranteed that the ref will carry them hard today and they'll get at least one non-pen/VAR disgrace. A draw is more likely. Hopefully Klopp has a meltdown afterwards as well, the melty, Wotsit toothed clown.
  16. I honestly hope they go bust. Ideally after we draw them in the FA Cup 3rd round and paste them 10-0. That's the dream.
  17. This. Absolutely no sympathy at all for them, the rotten cunts.
  18. The lockdown must still be on for them, because none of the cunts go to the games.
  19. They can't afford to go up, they can't afford to stay down. The issue for them is that whilst the top 25 or so clubs are quickly getting richer, they are getting poorer. They either need to accept that they are a 3rd division club and run themselves within the means their small fanbase can provide, or carry on hemorrhaging money on wages and go out of business and end up like Darlington.
  20. 100% the Champo is a worthless trophy. It's a cup for finishing 21st in England. And I say that having enjoyed seeing us lift it at SJP, fun as it was, it wasn't a big deal. As others have said, promotion is the real prize.
  21. Historically, they are much smaller than us. Currently, they are a third division club with an empty, dog shit stadium and no money. We are a top tier club with the fanbase, stadium and money to compete for trophies within 5 years. I'm not sure what mental gymnastics they are doing to equate the two. It's like comparing Man Utd with Bury. *Edit* On a side note, I wonder what they'll do about their Stadium. They can't afford the upkeep on it, and it's far too big for what they need. It's also worthless in terms of utility or land value. If they leave the top tier permanently closed, it'll become a health hazard. Maybe demolish the whole thing and rebuild an easier to keep 10,000 seater stadium?
  22. I'm actually a bit surprised that Lampard is as bad as he is, he seemed like a reasonable human as a player. Gerrard, however, was an apocalyptically massive thunder cunt as a player. I genuinely would have tapped out forever if he'd have ended up here as manager like his media chums were angling for. Luckily, we got Eddie the legend.
  23. Lingard is toxic too. The last thing we need is our squad dynamic upsetting with bad apples. He's also no better than what we already have.
  24. A proper striker (ideally 2) is the be all and end all for me. We now have the talent in midfield to provide service, and our defence is passable. Clearly, a top class CB and a decent RW would be lovely and signing Targett is a must. I do agree with @PlymouthGeordie 's list though.
  25. Although I agree that Wood is nowhere near PL standard and shouldn't be anywhere near the pitch next season, it was always important to get an actual number 9 for our shape. Clearly, we weren't able to land a proven PL 9, so we took a punt on Wood. It hasn't worked out, but he seems like a top chap and has fitted in well, so limited harm done. He also wasn't super expensive, so low risk. We got the results we have with a system that needs a proper 9 and we don't have any other 9s in our squad. If we'd have stuck with Gayle, I don't think things would have worked out as they have, as Gayle can't be a target man and he is proven to be useless in the PL. I'd say fair play to him for fitting in and that he is currently our least worst option, but agree that he has no part to play once we sign a couple of quality strikers. I also agree that his quality has been terrible, but he's done his job, so - meh. Also, I don't want to see ASM anywhere near CF. That would be ridiculously easy to defend against by man marking him out of the game. ASM works by running at players with the ball. A proper CF should be comfortable never being allowed to operate in space.
