  1. Bassedas was ok in fairness. Somehow Mick Wadsworth became the hate sponge for Robson wasting millions during that period.
  2. I decided to erase all memories of 2000/01 from my head so I cannot recall
  3. oh aye, which happened far too often. Leicester away is still my favourite
  4. Srnicek was decent with the ball at his feet
  5. Allen knew were the net was, very underrated CF, somehow long forgotten at this point.
  6. Given and Harper were close in the late ‘90s, but that was it - Given was by far the better over the following decade. And his distribution was definitely as bad as Pope’s. His GKs were like a fly half’s aiming for a line out.
  7. The club can’t do anything about it
  8. In terms of raw talent - no argument from me. In terms of what he actually became - yes, overrated - he didn’t become what everyone knows he should’ve become. edit: yes, I did see him in B&W
  9. I don’t have any issue with the ones who patter on after a match etc - it’s the ones who have to stick endless banal shite on YouTube to get daily clicks.
  10. He tried to break two Forest players’ legs in nasty, cowardly challenges and got the worst of it when he went for Gary Charles. I’ve fuck all sympathy for him re that cup final. His career was one of ‘what might have been’; there’s little footage despite all of his matches being recorded because there isn’t much to show. That he never became a great footballer is pretty much entirely on him. edit: Gascoigne really should be in that ‘overrated’ thread that’s been brought back from the dead. He wasn’t the best Geordie player of that era (Beardsley) he wasn’t even the best Geordie midfielder of that era (Robson)
  11. Arguably got England knocked out of three different WCs by being shite at the wrong moment. Clough thought he was great of course, and who am I to argue - but Shilton to me is proof and ne plus ultra that the English have long overrated their own goalkeepers.
  12. It would hold a bit more water if they hadn’t won their first seven matches tbf
  13. Who is out there that would be able to compete with Pope, is young, and can be signed permanently for £12-16m? £4m isn’t a huge sum for PL-experienced keeper who can compete for no.1 slot. It’s the equivalent of buying a £20m player on a five year deal.
  14. I don’t think Howe could get a tune out of him either tbf - the lad is a complete knacker
  15. We need to make sure Eddie Howe gets these numbers, this is dynamite - he’ll never made this mistake again. The numbers were clearly being hidden from him.

Was it the man we put on the dole - Terry Butcher
  17. Forgot we had them around that time. Progressing towards another cup win would be a much bigger result.
  18. Fulham are no walkovers for us, but being at home is always a good tie
  19. Yeah, I agree - a fit Botman could be one of the best centre backs on the planet. If he can stay fit.
  20. It’s classic ‘he needs one to go in off his arse’ syndrome. He just needs a confidence boost, the sooner the better.
  21. That’s now six wins in our last seven games against Spurs - at some point we will face their first team, then we’re in for it
  22. I thought he had a canny game
  23. I wonder how much of a character profile was done on the lad, the poor sod looks like he’s wilting under the pressure of a big money move tbh. Hopefully Howe and co. can get the proverbial arm around him and get the lad’s head up.
