Famous last words but cant see it not being a decent game. Got to ask what the point of being a football fan is if the best a Brentford can hope for can only result in a little bit of a celebration post match and hearty handshakes all round. I mean it'd be like playing an old computer game and getting a screen congratulating you at the end where you realise how much time you've wasted to achieve this.

Beat them and drew with them (unlucky not to win) in the other games at home to Man City. With that team.
-
Probably Norwich in the first PL season for as high as 3rd, were more fun to watch though.
-
Well, as is Wilson. But so is Wood. Same amount of goals as Bergkamp, more than Bellamy, De Bruyne, Sutton and Cantona. Not bad for the clubs he's played for and a lean spell here
-
The only place Wood didn't really do it was with us. He's one of the top scorers in PL history.

first time Forest's been favourites to beat Man United since the infamous Mark Robins game?

For you Tommy, ze being in Sunderland is over

Wonder if whilst they're looking forensically at stuff they'll have the courage of their convictions to do a simple search and verify some of the mythology's that frequent their echo chambers like the non-existent not at all publicised or already attempted boycott after Rafa and the hatred we apparently had for Sir Bobby and last weeks 8k gates pre Keegan. Probably not.

Some cracking imagery. Thought we might miss out on that given the route (as opposed the river, grey street etc.) but we did good with the car parks, windows, roof tops (never imagined it for some reason just a traffic light or two being mounted) and wor flags. Didn't see much of the scenes on the Percy Street leg even though I was between the bus stations (came and left that way through Eldon) and was satisfied enough with the buzz and atmosphere in the town already.

He's untamed like.

I always praise Sir Bobby to the hilt for what he did with what he had, never really thought until this thread that being unimpresed on face value with what he had was largely due to his not buying well. Was reported at the time that Robert and Bellamy (just about the two exceptions) were lucky escape alternates for Zenden and Jeffers. He did great for me though. Was a complete turn around in results and performances with what he inherited to what had gone before in 99/00 which proved his coaching credentials (51points in 32games for a side that had 23pts from the previous26). Definitely didn't inherit a decent team for me either. Though 00/01 was horrid, it was still better than Gullits and Dalglish's league season which cup runs did a lot to disguise. Keegan though still. But they're playing different games really. Spiritually KK as well as management. Others management.

What Wilson said basically With me I feel we could beat them 9 times out of 10, finish ahead of them every season, concievably forever, win cups and just be by any definition uncompetitively superior but one win over us you know what they'd be like. They're still milking 6 in a row 10years since - a whole one more win in a row than nobody gave a fuck about us getting a few years earlier. For 8 years the closest they got to us was getting relegated 17 places below as we were finishing 2nd, the average gap was probably 25places and nobody mentioned 'top dogs' until they finished a few places above us in 2000. Challenging for titles, entertainers, cup finals, European football, CL, beating them constantly for 8years was forgotton because they beat us for the first time in 9years in 99. I don't know, I just expected a bit of humility like 'nice to finally get one over you' or something rather than a shift in the pecking order based on fleeting moments in the sun ('sun' by their standards).

For the record our average, bottom of the 2nd division, pre Keegan was 18,500. Easy (and convenient) mistake to make 18,000 - 8,000. Boro being the only relatively big game. Still the biggest in the division and bigger than most Division1 sides at the time. Bigger than all bar one of their last 14years at Roker Park, including when they got promoted a few years later. Our last actual gate pre Keegan was 26,000 against Bournemouth. Theirs, 16,000 against Millwall.

Reckon its a bit like the concept in Basic Instict. Describing training in his books on the face of it implies he'd deploy it in real life but is also actually an alibi for his career

He's wrote well over a thousand words which must mean he's a very good author.

I've got this little anecdote about a football related dream/premonition I had the night before going to the Town Moor for the Hoppings one year that came to pass whilst we were there, watching it unfold on a TV at the back of a burger van. Will save it as it will help while away the time there on Saturday.

Only manager I've hated. Not to say I didn't utterly despise the jobs that some of them did here. Its the unprofessional laze and the fake nice-guy veneer that sets him apart. For all others had worse records and could came out with gibberish too, I'd have plenty between Bruce and Pardew for what its worth.

Watching it back from this vantage point I almost feel sympathy for them being mowed through and looking forlorn after Isak's goal and the stream of attacks before and after and the constant winning of the ball. Like the underdog element that may well have now gone for future finals (god willing) and big games wasn't there. Didn't watch the last 4-5minutes at the time (veteran of 96) but its almost my favourite part now. Was a million times more uncomfortable the other side of door wondering where the f the full time reaction was

May well be the biggest gate the mackems as a club have actually played in front of this season, bigger than even a good number of their made up ones. Still got a game in hand, two on some, be right up there with even a win and draw. Top two probably away though.
-
Don't know about the rest of it but that's asking a bit much
-
Oh, is this the way they say the future's meant to feel? Or just a hundred thousand people standing in a field?
-
Well this isn't even remotely how I imagined it. Iconic moments in the city and at the stadium just sitting there.
-
Normally the slight part that's remotely interested wants England to lose, but hope they win, Burn scores, plays well and has the time of his life. Go on son!

The one thing I thought that wouldn't be ballsed up regarding a cup final was a parade afterwards. Always imagined in my minds eye scenes like 74 the same tour bus to St James.
